Chapter 15 Abducting Christine
Words Count: 1254    |    Released on:26/01/2022

She was wet all over like a drowned rat and there was water dripping from her clothes. She went in front of Johnny, grabbed his arm, and begged, "Johnny, please help Frank. I know you all hate me and don't want to see me. But Frank was taken away by the police because Martin that bastard tried to frame him."

"I know you must have a plan and you can help him out. Please."

Johnny was indeed surprised by her deeds. Although Frank said Christine was a good girl who was not mature enough, Johnny still wanted to see how much she could do for Frank.

He squinted and said in a dangerous tone, "I can save Frank. But you must testify against Martin, can you?"

"Yes!"

Her answer would be "yes" even if Johnny asked her to kill Martin now, as long as she could help Frank out of the trouble.

Christine raised her head and the resolution on her pale face impressed Johnny deeply.

It seemed that she was not lying. And Johnny had the confidence that he could finally look through her even she was lying.

Then he squeezed out several words in a cold tone, "I will go with you. But I won't let you get away easily if you play any tricks in it."

Hearing his words, some thoughts occurred to her.

She realized that Martin was taking advantage of her to frame Franklin without considering the results. She must make them pay the price.

Johnny saw her lowered head, lazily turned away his eyes as if he didn't want to see her anymore.

"Wait for me outside at the door."

Christine opened her mouth as if she wanted to say something and gave him a worrying glance. Then she slowly moved towards outside.

When she arrived at the door, she gently pounded on her legs with one hand and looked at Johnny with an anxious expression.

"Don't stare at me in such an expression. I am no less worried about Frank than you." Johnny wrinkled his brows and required Christine to get out of the study. And he made a phone call and asked in an emotionless way, with a cigarette in his mouth, "Is Martin in the police station now?"

"Yes." Johnny's tone made the man on the other end of the phone nervous, and that man answered with a slightly trembling voice, "Johnny, Martin also called the media to wait outside the police but we stopped them. He claims that he doesn't want compensation. In my view, what he wants is to defame Mr. Brook."

"Don't let him leave the police station and I will interrogate him myself." Then he called Mason and said impatiently, "Block all the news about tonight in City H and shut out those who dare to threaten Frank with it."

Johnny was a man who preferred efficiency. Unlike Franklin who would torture people through commercial manipulation, Johnny would rather solve the problem as quickly as possible.

However, both of them would always stand by the people they cared for.

For example, Franklin cared about his wife most.

When Johnny came out of the room with his trench coat on hand, a maid brought Christine a pair of slippers. Christine nodded at that maid to thank her before stepping on it carefully and wearing it herself. There was nothing arrogant and outrageous in her eyes as before, which made her look like a woman of a noble family.

Christine raised her head and walked toward him as if she had known that he was looking at her.

Johnny threw his coat to Christine and said in a deep voice, "Wear it. Or Frank would blame me for not taking care of you."

Christine, "..."

She took a deep breath out of instinct.

"Go downstairs right now. What are you waiting for? Should I beg you to do that?" Johnny urged her impatiently and his chest was suddenly filled up with a strong feeling of disgust. "I will drive you to the police station and interrogate Martin myself."

Christine was pulled back to her thoughts by Johnny's words and her thoughts were in a whirl. She now put on the coat casually and wore men's slippers. Christine followed Johnny in staggering steps and got into the car.

Johnny drove even faster than Christine did. He glanced at her and saw her lean on the window in that coat. Then he looked at her and asked, "Christine, where did you get my address?"

"I..." Christine paused, and her face stiffed. Then she took a deep breath. "Frank told me."

"Frank treated you well."

"You are right."

And she thought in her heart. "It is true that Frank treats me well. I was the one who misunderstood him just because he had never spoken out his love. I even have thought he treated me well because he treated me as if I were a pet."

It was all her fault.

Johnny avoided the media from a secret path and took Christine into the police after pulling up short. It could be easily observed that he was infuriated even under dim lights.

Christine followed him and was brought into the lounge absent-mindedly.

"Stay here and wait. Come to me when I ask you and don't make any trouble."

Christine nodded with strength and sat on the cold chair silently. She was as delicate as a doll and attracted the attention of the police.

Johnny had been suppressed his anger in front of Christine. When he entered the interrogation room, Franklin sat at the center of the room with his legs overlapping. And Martin, who was injured, sat against Franklin in a wheelchair. Then Johnny kicked at the chair and made it hit the injures of Martin, whose face twisted in pain.

Seeing Johnny appeared suddenly, Franklin wrinkled his brows and his casual expression turned to be gloomy.

"Johnny Lewis!" Martin twisted in pain and gasped, "Are you guys here to bend the law for your interests, or what? I will accuse you two of murder!"

Johnny sneered, "Murder? Martin, the police find you are trying to cheat Christine, abduct, and murder her!"

"That's impossible. Christine is trying to frame me!" Martin gnashed his teeth and tried to rise from the wheelchair.

"She is in the next room and she brings the video and evidence which prove that you are going to murder her. And there is a picture of you trying to abduct her. Then your car crashed. Is this a coincidence or is it a plan?" Johnny was experienced in dealing with prisoners. And Martin didn't cost him many efforts.

Martin justified, "I...I had no idea why there was an accident."

Johnny was glad to hear that, "So you admit that you abducted Christine."

"It was Christine herself who begged me to take her away."

"Beg?"

Martin heard someone snorted with exasperation.

Hearing that Christine was next door, the gloom in his eyes increased gradually until the tight string was completely broken. His patience seemed to be completely exhausted at this moment, and he rose directly, just like Satan was alive, condescending to despise a worm snack like Martin.

"Wilson, ask the lawyers to sue the Jones for murdering Mrs. Brook. I want them to spend their rest lives in prison." His voice was like an open net, breaking all breathing and suffocating the people in it.

Martin gave a start.

And he suddenly realized that he was fooled.

They had no evidence at all.
