“Vanessa! No!” Byron hollered as Aaron and Julius began to usher him away. “Don’t give yourself to him! I’ll die! Let me die! You have a life to live! I don’t!” he called out.
His cries went in vain. Vanessa made up her mind. Even as Malik looked at her as if he’d just won a rare prize, she didn’t regret the deal she just made. It saved Byron. She knew he was alive and well so long as she cooperated with Malik. He held his hand out to her, “Let’s go, my dear.”
Vanessa scoffed and slapped her hand into his, “I’m not your dear.”
