In "A Night with a Reaper," a girl seeks love beyond the ordinary, entwining her fate with the grim reaper. Together, she will navigate a world where passion and darkness collide, finding the man of her life despite of the unordinary.
During the time that the bloody liquid was shimmering brightly in the moonlight, the air was filled with the pungent odor of blood.
A half dozen people had passed away in the blink of an eye, their bodies lying on the warm asphalt, bleeding out at the same time. As soon as the four young grim reapers arrived on the scene, the murmur that was going about was dull, and the shouts for assistance were being ignored.
"Couldn't they have died after dinner?" Mateo let out a groan as he hauled his feet in the direction of the dead bodies.
It was Hudson who struck the back of the skull of the younger one.
He reprimanded subtly, "Have a little respect towards the dead," but it seemed as though he didn't care much about himself. "Have some respect for the dead."
Mateo remained still and observed as David bent down in front of the lifeless body of a young woman. He rolled his eyes and remained silent because he was way too lethargic to respond and dispute with the elder one.
"Let's just get to work," the youngest one ordered, cocking his head to the side as he examined the body itself as well as the soul that was contained within it. This is for Hudson, by the way. Bring the child to me, Jonas. The remainder will be taken care of by Mateo and I.
"But why do I have to take two?" Mateo began to complain, his gaze fixed on his best friend, who looked at the older person with a bored expression on his face.
"Because you keep complaining." David grabbed his hands and removed them from his pants as he struggled to stand up. "You act as if you were the one that died in a car crash."
While the boy was being reprimanded, that was intended to be a joke at the same time.
Mateo, on the other hand, rolled his eyes before he went to work as he had been instructed.
They were so preoccupied with what they were doing and did not anticipate that anyone would be watching their movements that they failed to see the pair of eyes that remained on them while they were working.
The girl went unnoticed by anyone. When she was among the throng, she was nearly unnoticeable. There was nothing that helped her stand out; there was nothing that made her appear to be more than a footnote.
Her head was slightly cocked to the side as she examined the boys, which was a distinct departure from the behavior of everyone else.
Due to the fact that no one else could see them, the onlookers were nothing more than ordinary humans who were limited to viewing this gaping hole in the globe.
Another thing to consider is that there were only two people who were known to be able to recognize the men of death. More specifically, "Easton, Jace!" Jonas spoke out as soon as he recognized the two young boys among the crowd of people.
As they made their way across the campus of the university, it did not take them long to capture the attention of virtually every student who was walking by.
Despite the fact that it was not rare to come into any of the four grim reapers in this location, a significant number of students couldn't help but watch them with a sense of apprehension and a certain yearning as they passed by.
Easton inquired, "Are your classes over?" once they had gotten near enough to one another. Jonas indicated with a nod.
It was an early end to our lecture. Where do you stand? Have you all made preparations to leave? As he repeated the question again, he was on the verge of turning on his heel when Mateo suddenly materialized next to them out of thin air.
The conversation was cut off by his response, "No," as he stuffed his hands into the pockets of his pants.
"David's got a soul to take to hell."
The soul that was still inside its body at the time, which had already stopped bleeding out, had skin that was unhealthily pale, and eyes that were wide open as it stared at the wall that it was facing.
Even in the bright daylight that beamed down upon him, the dead guy was not noticed by anyone. He was leaning against a dumpster at the end of a short lane that was not being used.
People strolled passed and engaged in joyful conversation. The body went unnoticed by everyone. Not a single person batted an eye.
Two individuals are the only ones present.
David was standing at the entrance of the alley, and his expression was one of boredom as he gazed inside. He arched an eyebrow at the girl who appeared to be unimpressed as she stood there looking down at the dead body that was in front of her feet.
It was possible for him to pick up on her low humming sound before she cocked her head to the side and let out a flat breath.
"An ugly death for an ugly soul," Chloe remarked in a hushed voice. "Quite fitting."
The young man's forehead was rubbed by Chloe.
"Yah!" Haechen yelled, his eyes flashing open in surprise. Rubbing the heel of his hand against his forehead in a calming manner, he did so with a frown on his face. "What a brat."
Chloe said, "You are the one that fell asleep - you are supposed to tutor me," before tapping her pen against the monotonous blue lunch table. "You are supposed to be the one who tutors me."
The tables were positioned around the back of the building that housed their professors. Each and every other faculty's outdoor lunch space was designed and laid out in the same manner as this one.
Today was a very warm day. The students were illuminated by the sun, and when its rays encircled Jonas, who was the embodiment of death, he appeared to be even more brilliant than the sun itself.
A sleepy nod was given by the young child, who then rested his chin in the palm of his hand. "Okay, but I told you to get food."
