Xavier Moonstone stood tall as he stares at the tent that stood before him, what lies ahead was a necessary evil that must happen.
'Ronan brought it upon himself' Damon, Xavier's wolf echoed in his head.
The most important rule in the Silverback pack was that the pack comes first and Ronan had betrayed the pack and has put the pack's Luna in danger in a failed attempt to replace Xavier as the Alpha.
Xavier was surrounded by his soldiers' wolves and dead wolves, who were loyalist of Ronan. In a sneak attack carried out by the Silverback pack's army, Ronan's hideout was discovered and infiltrated by the Silverback pack secret delta, soon to be Beta, as the previous Beta was killed in a guerrilla attack carried out by Ronan and his insurgents.
Xavier shift into his wolf form and walked into the tent. Even in his wolf form, Xavier's eyes widened at the sight before him. Ronan was backed into a corner surrounded by menacing wolves snaring at him. Even the fearless Ronan knew he was outnumbered. Xavier shifted back to his human form, his eyes stuck on the bundle which Ronan clutched tightly to his chest.
'What games are you playing at brother?' Xavier asked. The only thing he could come up with is that Ronan was playing one of his games.
'Brother, long time no see. How is your Luna?' Ronan asked, even at the last minute of his life, he still had no sense. He has always been reckless, even as young pups.
'Do you really want to talk about Anna right now, brother?' Xavier asked.
'Whose child do you hold on to?' Xavier asked.
'Mine. You will spare her life; she has nothing to do with whatever is between us.' Ronan snarled.
'Do you issue orders to your alpha?'
'You are no alpha to me, take my life as your mother took that of my mother and be done with it; for as long as I live I will not stop fighting for what rightfully belongs to me.' Ronan stated.
'Leave us.' Xavier ordered. The other wolves retreated backwards, leaving their alpha with his step brother.
'You cannot afford to be proud right now. I will kill you.' Xavier said.
'Do it, but spare my child. I rather die than be your prisoner, if I mean anything at all to you, you will kill me.' Ronan said, his bravado was tainted by a tear slipping from an eye. He raise the baby sleeping on his chest and planted a kiss on her face.
'My pup, Marcella.' He placed the sleeping child on the table and faced his brother, ready for the inevitable.
Xavier reached behind him and brought out a silver blade and placed it at the heart of his brother.
'So long brother.' Xavier said, his eyes pleading with his brother to beg for mercy. With a quick force, he pushed the blade into his brother's heart and watched as life faded from his eyes.
Xavier wiped a tear that escaped from his eyes, he was alpha, he could not afford to appear weak in the presence of his warriors. He looked at the sleeping child and picked her up. As though sensing the change of event, the baby opened her eyes. Xavier was greeted with orange eyes. Eyes like flames.
He looked at the child, frowning and at lost with what to do next.
'Marcella?' The child looked at him intently, before suddenly opening her mouth, breaking into a deafening wail.
