Chapter 1 Introduction

Ibisa is an ancient community located in bakassi, an island rich with culture and mirth. The natives of Ibisa are mainly farmers and fisherman who isolated themselves from the rest of the communities around.

The serenity of the land attract merchandise from the coast of Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea making it also the most tourists community in the region. A visit to Ibisa will always be through the sea as there's no other means of transportation making it possible for them to monitor and identify every stranger that goes in and out.

Ibisa fish festival is one of the occasion that brings people far and wide to witness the rich heritage culture of the land, it's not just a festival but a cultural extravaganza that catered to all ages. From the live music performances that resonated with the soul; maiden dancing to it and showcasing their beauty, the boat racing that sent pulses rising, the cooking and eating competition were participants shows their culinary skills and the aroma of traditional dishes feels the air, a testament to Ibisa's rich food culture.

Chiefs, traditional rulers, Kingsman and dignitaries from other communities would also be in attendance as the festival do not only celebrate culture and tradition but also recognized individuals who made significant impact in the community. Anticipated award ceremony was the moment of pride and honor as exceptional individuals were recognized for their contributions to the land.
