Chapter 1 Before then...

Peter,popularly known as Ballarey left the house into the Streets when he was barely twenty, his father had sent him out of his house on the discovery that his son was the capon of the popular 'Black Skull',a dreaded confraternity of the J.S.Tarka Federal University.

All these happenings had measured up to be termed as badluck for Ballarey because soon after his father has disowned him,he was caught by the police in a robbery, robbery which he had assumed would change his life for good .He and his gang of seven were arraigned before the state high court ,tried and found guilty. They were sentenced to five years imprisonment with hard labour as suited the calibre of people they were..The fact of the judge sentencing them to five years only was a thing of luck for them..Yet in prison,Ballarey had still continued his gangster life .The section of the cell he found himself was made up largely of his of gang of cultists sentenced by the high Court..Any new comer into the prison yard was called 'JJC'-jonie just come..This was a common pidgin name given to new comers into basic one of secondary schools. But due to his ownership of a gang ,he had assumed an overlordship of the cell he was kept and there treated new comers as his servants ,he made them Fan him while he slept and snored into the night,anybody that objected was seriously beaten and injured.In prison ,he committed more atrocities..

At the expiation of his sentence,all the prisons officers rejoiced at his going by-the-way,they prayed and hoped he would change to a better person but those prayers be better wasted on a lunatic whose fate is damnation than on Ballarey,eventhough what fate did he have rather than ddamnation???
