Ellina replaced her adopted sister in an arranged marriage to marry a cold man who never loved her. The entire family betrayed her, pushing her to death under her husband's pet. All the injustice, loneliness, and pain that filled her life led her to be reborn right before her engagement. In this life, she decides to change her destiny and live a happy life. Escaping her ex-husband, leaving out of the family register, and intending to have a relationship with her childhood friend. She had done everything to save her life, but why did her ex-husband not want to let her go by cutting off all her routes to chain her to his side? "I had to run as far away as possible because I didn't want to face the same death." -Ellina Aracelia Azzuri "You will only live in my hand. No matter what, even if I have to lock you up in a cage, breaking your legs till you can't run away and have to rely on me for the rest of your life, or have to turn the whole world upside down. I won't let you leave me!" -Kenzie Alexis Reegan
Moscow, Russia.
"Ken, I didn't do that. I never betrayed you." Ellina knelt down, looking at her husband, Kenzie, who sat on a chair with his hand petting a white wolf that occasionally let out a hungry roar.
"I really didn't. Ken, give me a chance." Ellina pleaded once again.
But Kenzie, the handsome man, did not move. His eyes stared coldly with no interest in an explanation he could not accept. His wife tarnished the family name; divorce was too good for her. The roar of his wolf was even more appealing to his ears.
"Oh, Sister, but the truth isn't," said Lexsi, the woman standing next to Kenzie, smiling dazzlingly. "You're really heartless. How could you disgrace the Rexton family by betraying your husband?"
"Lexi, we are family. I can't possibly-"
"We? A family? If we are family, how could we be so different? Oh, right, we don't even share the same blood. How could we not be different? We become siblings because we live in the same house. Even so, I didn't even expect you to do this," Lexsi explained quickly.
Ellina shook her head. Her tears broke out, and she looked at her husband with tearful eyes that asked for forgiveness. "Ken, I didn't do anything. I really didn't betray you. Lexi was even there. Lexsi, say something. You're the one who brings me there!" she screams frustratedly.
Lexsi chuckled. "Sister, what are you saying? I was shopping with Mom when it happened. How could I have been there with you?"
It was a lie. Ellina knew it. That time, Lexsi was the one who took her to a party, and the next morning, Kenzie found her with five strange men in a room. She was shattered, like a broken glass. And the thing she couldn't understand was that her sister, Lexsi, didn't admit it.
"Le-lexsi," she said confusedly. Her whole face was pale. "Kenzie, really. I remember everything. I-"
Kenzie gave Ellina a bored look. "You're dirty and disgusting! Do as I say. I don't want to see her again!"
Ellina's whole body trembled. Ellina had never thought that she would not receive forgiveness. Kenzie got up and walked away. He didn't turn around even though Ellina's cries echoed.
"Stop crying. Kenzie won't look at you! It's all over now, Rexton's family has decided to cancel your adoption. Thank you, Sister. Because of your trust, I can take your place and become the real Mrs. Reegan." Lexsi chuckled. "Don't look at me like that. Of course, I am already done with Aaric. He's quite boring, tho."
Ellina gasped as Lexsi's honesty made everything clear. She had been set up by the one she treated like her sister. Even her family had canceled her adoption. She was thrown away!
Being an adopted child in Rexton's family, she had done everything to make everyone love her. She had to give up everything she loved, voluntarily changing her engagement and marriage to the young master of the Reegan family. Abandoning her studies and staying away from her lover, Aaric Leighton Blade. She never stopped working hard in her marriage, trying to make her husband look at her. But she was isolated and considered a shadow that never existed.
Now, everything was clear in Ellina's eyes. Everything had been planned to set her up. But why?
"Why?" Ellina was unable to control her shock. "Why are you doing this to me?"
Lexsi smiled slightly, looked down, and whispered. "Because I want to be the only one. Who would have thought you would trust all of us. Even your own husband didn't care and was going to kill you. Isn't that a perfect ending for you, Cinderella?"
Ellina's body froze. Kenzie intended to kill her. "No. Kenzie, let me go. I'll agree to the divorce. I'll get away from you. Kenzie, Kenzie!"
Kenzie was not interested; behind his handsome face lurked an incomparable cruelty. As the young CEO of a prestigious family, he was known as the established man all women hope to live happily with. But he was aware of all his perfections, so he became arrogant and thought no woman deserved to be with him.
"Bing Bing, your food is ready!" Kenzie's hand raised, Bing Bing, the white wolf, growled with interest. Staring at Ellina with hunger.
Lexis looked at Ellina's scared face with a smile and satisfaction. Finally, it's over. Everything will be exactly like she always wished for.
"Kenzie... Kenzie... Kenzie...!"
Ellina's scream echoed with her body running towards the slowly closing door. The white wolf had just been released right after leaving the room. The hungry roar made the entire building tremble as if obliterating the city with one shot.
Ellina could only run to save herself, but it was futile. She had no way out. The wolf got no closer, with drool dripping onto the floor. It stared at her with a hungry look followed by a terrifying roar. Trapped between a hard-rock wall and a hungry beast, she closed her eyes and held her breath as a giant shadow started to block the lights.
Blood began to splatter as her right leg began to be snatched away. She screamed at the top of her lungs, hoping a miracle would come and someone would help her. But instead, the more intense pain spread throughout her body. She couldn't even look at the wolf's eye before her stomach was torn apart, with organs scattered everywhere. Her consciousness was lost in pain, too intense to feel, welcoming the dark with a lifetime of regret. Tearing her every memory into small, painful pieces.
I can't die like this! How could they live happily while I'm dying like this? That's unfair. God, if you really exist, please give me one more chance to fix everything. I won't die like this!
Breathless in the endless darkness, extreme pain paralyzed every inch of her body. In this moment of death, all memories flashed through her mind as if they were bound to the pain. Every mistake, every deed, and everything she had done that never led her to happiness. Every memory feels like a sword, tearing her into pieces and leaving her with only pain and bitterness.
The pain might be overwhelming, but her careless husband hurt her the most. How could he let her be scattered away by the wolf? He doesn't even look at her, the cold back facing her as she begs forgiveness. And her foster sister and parents, had they planned it all? How could she didn't realize anything? How could she just have discovered everything when she already had nothing? She was betrayed by her lover, replacing her sister's wedding, and ends up in her husband's hand because of her sister.
Everything was unfair!
That thought always lingers in her heart. Her body stiffened violently, sweat pouring down her forehead as she felt like the oxygen had started to avoid her. A memory where her sister's men touched her body felt disgusting. Desecrating her mercilessly leads to her death. A death she did not deserve. A death she could have avoided if she had never married that heartless man in the first place!
"You're dirty and disgusting!"
Kenzie's words rang inside her head repeatedly. In their marriage, she had no place in his heart. He was too cold to look at her, more even to touch her. And all the things she did were useless. Turning herself to become like pornstar just because Lexsi and her mum said men loved that, so she foolishly complied with everything. Wearing so much makeup that hid her beauty. And what she received was a glance of disgust from her husband.
Isn't she stupid for not being able to realize everything that could be understood by an ordinary person?
"Ah...!" she cried out in frustration. Everything was too painful. They said death would set someone free from any pain, so why did she have to bear this pain in her death?
Her eyes opened wide as a hand touched her wrist. Before she could proceed with everything, a familiar voice rang through her ears.
"Sister, are you alright?"
Ellina's hand squeezed her stomach tightly, looking across the familiar room before lying down her eyes to a worried face beside her. She didn't know how, but that expression strangely felt so fake and disgusted her. She looked up at the ceiling and deeply breathed before turning to Lexsi's worried face.
What was that? Isn't she dying? Was it all just a dream?
"Sister, you okay? Should we call the doctor?"
She tried to sit up and held her forehead. This is too real to become a dream. She pinches her cheeks and legs. The pain is real!
