Chapter 1 Five Years Ago

"Ava sat in the corner of the coffee shop, engrossed in her book. The warm scent of fresh coffee filled the air, and the soft music playing in the background created a relaxing atmosphere. It was the perfect place to lose herself in a story. As she turned the page, she felt someone's eyes on her. She looked up and saw a man standing near the counter, looking right at her he had dark hair and deep brown eyes, and he was dressed in a casual but stylish outfit. He smiled at her, and she felt her heart skip a beat."

"He walked over to the table next to her and sat down. She couldn't help but feel nervous, but also intrigued. They sat there for a few minutes, and neither of them said a word. The tension in the air was palpable."

"As Ava and the mysterious man sat at their separate tables, the waiter came over with two coffees."

"One iced coffee and one hot chocolate,' he said, placing the drinks down."

"Um, I didn't order a hot chocolate,' Abby said, confused."

"And I didn't order an iced coffee," the man said, looking just as confused as Ava. They both looked at the waiter, who looked embarrassed."

"Sorry, I must have mixed up your orders,' he said."

"The waiter took the wrong drinks back, and returned with the correct ones. But something strange had happened. As the waiter set the drinks down, Ava and the mysterious man both reached for the same iced coffee at the same time. They looked into each other's eyes, and they both knew something special had just happened. It was as if fate had brought them together in that coffee shop"

"As Ava and the mysterious man looked into each other's eyes, they both felt something shift inside of them. Suddenly, the world around them faded away, and it was just the two of them. They both felt drawn to each other, as if by a magnetic force. The man spoke first. 'I'm sorry for the mix-up,' he said. 'It's okay,' Ava replied, her voice sounding breathy and nervous."

"It's funny how things like this happen sometimes,' he said, a smile playing on his lips."

"Ava smiled back at him, and something about that smile made the man feel like he could tell her anything. 'I'm Luke,' he said, extending his hand. 'Ava,' she said, taking his hand in hers. As their hands touched, they both felt a spark of electricity, and they couldn't help but stare at each other. It was as if time had stopped, and the world had disappeared around them. They didn't even notice the waiter asking if they needed anything else. Finally, they both pulled their hands away, and Luke cleared his throat"

"As Ava and Luke talked, they found themselves lost in conversation. They covered everything from their hobbies to their dreams. Ava told Luke about her love of reading, and Luke told her about his passion for photography. They found that they both loved to travel, and they shared stories of their adventures around the world. As the conversation flowed, they both felt a warmth spreading through their bodies. It was as if they'd known each other for years, even though they'd only just met"

"As they bid goodbyes, they'll both feel a pang of disappointment. But are both so excited to see each other again. As they go home that night, they both replay the conversation in their heads, thinking about how easy it was to talk to the other person. They both fall asleep that night with smiles on their faces."

A week later, Ava is sitting in the library, trying to focus on her studies. But her mind keeps drifting back to Luke and the conversation they had."

"As Ava is sitting in the library, she hears footsteps behind her. She turns around, and it's Luke! She's surprised to see him there, and she wonders what he's doing in the library. He smiles at her, and says, "I was in the neighborhood, and I thought I'd stop by."

"Can I sit with you? He said"

Ava looks around the library, which is mostly empty. There's a free chair next to her, so she motions for Luke to sit down. As he does, she wonders what to say."

"How have you been?" she asks, feeling a bit nervous.

"I've been good," Luke replies, looking at her with a smile."

"And yourself?"

"I've been well," Ava replies. "I'm glad you're doing well," Luke says."

"I was surprised to see you here," he says, "I didn't think I'd run into you again."

"I didn't think so either," she says, "but I guess it was meant to be."

"Maybe," he says, smiling at her. "It's a small world after all."

"So, what have you been up to?" Ava asks, trying to make conversation."

"Just the usual," Luke says, "classes, studying, hanging out with friends." "The usual college life, then?" Ava asks. "Exactly," he replies, "though it's not always easy." "I know what you mean," Ava says, "sometimes it feels like there's so much to do, and not enough time." "It can be stressful," Luke agrees, "but it's also an exciting time in our lives."

"Yes, it's a time of new experiences and opportunities," Ava says, thinking about her own life."

"It's a time to figure out who we are and what we want to do with our lives," Luke says thoughtfully."

"It's easy to get lost in the shuffle," Ava agrees, "but it's also a time to discover who we really are." "Absolutely," he says, "it's a time of self-discovery." "And sometimes, that can be scary," Ava says, "because we might not like what we find."

"Yes, it can be terrifying to face the unknown," Luke says, "but it's also an opportunity to grow and change." "I think that's a really mature way of looking at it," Ava says, impressed by his perspective. "Thanks," he says, "I've had to do a lot of soul-searching over the past few years." "I'm curious," Ava says, "what brought on all this soul-searching?" Luke hesitates, then says, "Well, I'll tell you, but you have to promise not to judge me."

Ava nods, intrigued by his request. "A few years ago, I had a serious relationship with a girl," Luke says, "we were together for a while, and I thought she was the one." "But something happened?" Ava asks, sensing that there was more to the story. "Yeah," he says, "she cheated on me. It was a real shock, and it made me question everything." Ava can see the hurt in his eyes, and she feels for him. "I'm so sorry that happened to you," she says."

"Thanks," he says, "it was really hard to deal with, but in the end, it was a wake-up call for me. I realized that I'd been living my life for other people, trying to make everyone else happy. I hadn't been true to myself." "That's such an important realization," Ava says, "it's so easy to get caught up in what we think we should be doing, instead of what we really want to do."

"Exactly," he says, "so I made a decision to live my life for myself, to figure out what really makes me happy."

"That's when I started to travel," he says, "I went to different countries, and I saw things I never could have imagined. I met people from all over the world, and I started to learn about myself. I realized that I love to help people, and that I'm good at it. I also realized that I really enjoy connecting with others and sharing my experiences." Ava is captivated by his story, and she's impressed by his journey of self-discovery. "That's so inspiring," she says, "you took something really difficult and turned it into a positive experience."

"Thanks," he says, "I feel like I really grew as a person. I realized that there's so much more to life than what I thought was important. Now, I try to live every day to the fullest, and I try to make a difference in the lives of others. I feel like I'm more true to myself than I've ever been before." Ava is struck by his insight and maturity."

"Ava is amazed by how open and honest Luke is being, and she can tell that he's a genuine person. She feels herself opening up to him, and they both feel a connection forming. "It's getting late," Ava says, "but I really enjoyed talking to you." "Me too," he says, "I'd love to keep talking, but I know you probably have things to do." "I do," she says, "but I really appreciate our conversation."

"Maybe we could meet again sometime, for another coffee?" Luke asks, hoping she'll say yes. "I'd like that," Ava says, smiling. "Great!" he says, "what's your schedule like next week?" "I'm free on Tuesday," she says, "what about you?" "Tuesday's perfect," he says, "how about we meet here at the same time?" "I'd love that," she says, "see you then." With that, they say goodbye and head off in different directions. But they both feel a sense of excitement about their future meetings."
