"Hide here until you can't hear anything from outside." Mom told me and she instructed me to hide under my bed.

"How about you, Mom?" I asked her and she smiled at me.

She patted my head and kissed my cheeks. I knew that there was something outside that Mom couldn't tell me.

"I will help your father and I promise that we will come back to get you." She said and I nodded my head.

I hid under my bed and I was listening outside until an unfamiliar wolf went inside my room. I covered my mouth so I couldn't make any noise.

I was trembling when the wolf was sniffing on my bed. I saw how that wolf was thrown to the other side of my room. It was my father who did that, he was protecting me from that wolf.

Two wolves came inside my room and they attacked my father. I couldn't do anything because I was just a mere child. All I did was watch them kill my father. I was crying until I fell asleep.

I opened my eyes when I heard noises and they were talking to each other.

"They did horrible things in front of a child." It was a woman's voice so I immediately went out of where I was hidden.

"Adelaine!" She called my name but I didn't know her.

"I'm your auntie Leona, come here." She said and I could remember her name because my Mom always talked about her.

I walked towards her and she hugged me tightly. She caressed my hair and everything that happened last night came back to my mind. I started crying and I pushed her away from me.

"Where are my Mom and Dad?" I asked her and I walked back and forth.

"Hey, little girl!" The man called me and I stopped walking.

"You want some ice cream?" He asked me and I nodded my head.

"How old are you, honey?" My aunt asked me and I showed her my ten fingers.

"You are too young to witness what happened last night. Let's go grab some ice cream." The man said and offered his hands to me.

I held his hands and we went out of our house. We went inside a car and the man started driving.

The car stopped at a huge house and we got out of the car. The man offered his hands again and we went inside the house. I saw two girls and they were waiting for us.

"Adelaine, these are your cousins. Eleanor and Sariah." My aunt said and I looked at them.

Eleanor was scanning my body and Sariah gave me a huge smile so I also smiled at her.

"Eleanor is just nine years old while Sariah is seven years old." The man said and I guessed he was my uncle.

"Adelaine is older than both of you so you must respect her." My aunt told her children and Eleanor rolled her eyes at me.

"Okay, who likes to eat ice cream?" My uncle said and I immediately raised my hand.

"Me!" Sariah yelled and we went to the kitchen.

After we ate some ice cream, they brought me to a room that will be my room. I was checking it and it was fine with me.

"Do you like it?" My aunt asked me and I nodded my head.

"But I didn't bring my things with me." I told her and she smiled at me.

"We will buy your things tomorrow." She answered and smiled at me.

"For now, you need a proper rest." My uncle said and he patted the bed.

"There's a pair of clothes if you want to change. Sleep tight!" My aunt said and she kissed my forehead.

They went out of my room and I walked towards the bathroom to take a bath.

As I finished taking a bath, I went outside of the bathroom. I saw Eleanor sitting on my bed and she immediately looked at me when I left the bathroom.

"I will warn you, don't ever use any of my stuff." She said and she looked mad at me.

"I will never use them." I told her and she nodded her head.

"And don't ever tell my Mom what I am doing to you." She said and I just looked at her.

"Answer me!" She added and I nodded my head.

After that, she left my room. I immediately closed the door and I hoped that she would not enter again. I lay on the bed and I fell asleep right away.

I opened my eyes and I felt someone looking at me. I saw Sariah playing beside my bed and when she looked at me, she showed me her toys.

"Will you play with me?" She asked and I shook my head.

"I don't play anymore." I answered and she looked sad at what I said.

"Eleanor didn't want to play with me and you also don't want to play with me. Sariah is sad now." She said and I patted her head.

"Okay, let's play!" I told her and I smiled at her.

"Really?" She asked me.

"Yes!" I answered while nodding my head.

I played with her using her dolls and we were both startled when the door opened.

"I was looking for you and you are just here." Eleanor said and grabbed Sariah's arm.

"It hurts!" Sariah said and I immediately stopped Eleanor from dragging Sariah.

"Don't meddle with us! Eleanor said and she pushed me hard so I fell.

"ELEANOR!" I heard a yell and it was Aunt Leona.

Sariah ran towards her while crying.

"Eleanor pushed Adelaine." Sariah said and I stood up.

"Apologize, now!" Aunt Leona told Eleanor and Eleanor went in front of me.

"Sorry!" Eleanor said with a straight face.

"Let's go eat our dinner." Aunt Leona said and we went out of my room.

Our food was already prepared and we started eating.

"From now on you will call us Mom and Dad, Adelaine." Aunt Leona said and I just looked at her. Mom and Dad?
