What June didn't plan for her senior year was falling for River,Brooks bad boy and player. What comes with the whole package?
June walked slowly into Brooks High School clutching her books tightly in her arms and her school bag, slung over her shoulders. Her hair was tied in a bun and it shined gloriously under the morning sun.Her twin Jane, was already talking to a group of friends. They were both sixteen with Jane, the eldest. She was not really an extrovert neuther was she and introvert, she preferred keeping to herself. She never talked to anyone except for a few greetings, that was all.Jane, however was the opposite of her.She was the cheerleaders captain and was also the Queen of Brooks High.
Jane was labelled as a snub by most people, but she couldn't care less. She got to her locker and put in her combination, unlocking her locker.
"The snub is already here."Said a girl to her friend, while glaring at her.June ignored them and went ahead to bring out the books she was going to use for her class today.
It was the beginning of a new term and she was in her last year in highschool. The bell rang indicating it was first period. She packed her books and left for class.Few students were already in class, and the front row was occupied. She decided to sut in the middle row which was still good for her sight. She had Biology first period.Mrs Williams, the biology teacher entered and began teaching.
Halfway into the class, the door burst open and the three bad boys of Brooks High,in the form of River,Justin and Jordan came inside. They were the hottest guys in school, with River their leader. He was the school quarterback and captain of soccer. He was tall, with blue eyes and black hair.Rumors had it that,he had slept with almost all the girls in Brooks High.
"Can you guys explain to me why you're just coming now?"asked Mrs Williams,a frown visible on her face.
"Sorry ma'am"apologized Jordan. He was the most reserved of them all.
"To your seats"she ordered.
River had already sat down even before she had ordered them.
"You'll be doing a project in pairs."
There was grumbling and murmurings heard.
"Quiet, all of you!"barked Mrs Williams.Order was restored back.
"I've paired you guys together so listen to your names and partner."
She took out a long paper containing the names of all the students and their partners.
"Now listen."she ordered.
June was already fidgeting in her seat, when she heard partners. That only means one thing. She was finally going to talk to someone. She was disturbed. She had no friends and was not sure if anybody was going to talk to her.She decided to keep calm and listen yo her partner. But,she prayed she wasn't paired with River,Justin or Jordan.
"Sandra and Peter"Mrs Williams called out breaking her out from her trance.
"Favor and Tiffany,Amelia and Mark,Ryder and Trevor...."
"Alex and Gracie,Joshua and Joel,Jane and Justin,Tyler and Jordan and ....."She paused for effect before releasing the bombshell."June and River."
The class went into chaos after that.June was shocked.Of all people, she was paired with River. She decided to change partners.
"You can't switch partners"Mrs Williams said destroying the last ray of hope she had.
"Now,sit with your partners while I go round distributing your paperwork."Commanded Mrs Williams.June made no effort to move at all. There was scraping of chairs as people located their partners. She wasn't ready to talk to anyone, not even River.
She felt the sit beside her shift and someone sat on it.She didn't need to look, she knew it was River from his cologne.
"Hey!"Came River's voice. She looked up to meet his gaze to see him smiling at her.She glanced away and brought out her notepad.
Mrs Williams came to where they were seated and dropped their project.
"June, try bring nice at once and good luck"Said Mrs Williams, before moving on.June made for the paper, the same time as River. She quickly pulled back when their hands touched.
"Go ahead."Urged River. She picked it up and stared at what was written on it.They were to work on all the sea creatures, their distinction feature and species they belong to.She dropped it back on the desk and spoke up"Leave the work for me"she said.
River chucked and replied"Not happening".
She glared at him but said nothing.
"So,how do we meet to carry out the project?"She asked
"Let's do it this way,I come to your house and you cone to mine."he replied
"I'm not coming to your house!"she said authoritatively.
"Fine,I'll do the coming,"River chuckled.
"Time?"
"By 4pm"
The bell rang signalling class was over. She packed her books and made to leave.
"So,4 it is?"asked River
"Yes"
With that she left the class. She had Geometry next. While on her way,Justin walked beside her.
"Hey!"he said. She ignored him and quickened her steps.
"I'm Justin by the way."he introduced.Still,he was met with silence.
"I can see you don't talk"
"Isn't it obvious?"she wanted to say but decided against it.
"Leave the poor girl alone. She clearly doesn't want to talk to you."River said, coming to the rescue.
"I don't mean any harm"Justin remarked.
"Yeah, says the guy who has slept with almost all the girls here."
"You're no different from me."
June had had enough and took off running.
"You scared the poor girl."River said staring at the direction she took with a faraway look in his eyes.
"I did not"
Three months into their marriage, Stella Dawson had been diligently playing the role of a delicate, spoiled flower-pushing every button she could-until she finally drove the CEO to the brink of madness. Alexander Sterling coldly tossed the divorce papers at her. "Let's get divorced." Tears welled up in Stella's eyes, but inwardly, she was grinning from ear to ear. *Good riddance to being the CEO's wife! I'm going back to being the richest woman alive!* Alexander was certain he'd never regret his decision. That is, until he saw his ex-wife surrounded by admirers, amassing wealth, and dominating every industry she touched. Power players from all fields bowed before her, declaring, "Little sister, just say the word, and we'll take down anyone who dares mess with you!" Swallowing his pride, Alexander squeezed his way into the crowd of handsome men. "Sweetheart, I take it back. Let's get back together."
Madisyn was stunned to discover that she was not her parents' biological child. Due to the real daughter's scheming, she was kicked out and became a laughingstock. Thought to be born to peasants, Madisyn was shocked to find that her real father was the richest man in the city, and her brothers were renowned figures in their respective fields. They showered her with love, only to learn that Madisyn had a thriving business of her own. "Stop pestering me!" said her ex-boyfriend. "My heart only belongs to Jenna." "How dare you think that my woman has feelings for you?" claimed a mysterious bigwig.
Being second best is practically in my DNA. My sister got the love, the attention, the spotlight. And now, even her damn fiancé. Technically, Rhys Granger was my fiancé now-billionaire, devastatingly hot, and a walking Wall Street wet dream. My parents shoved me into the engagement after Catherine disappeared, and honestly? I didn't mind. I'd crushed on Rhys for years. This was my chance, right? My turn to be the chosen one? Wrong. One night, he slapped me. Over a mug. A stupid, chipped, ugly mug my sister gave him years ago. That's when it hit me-he didn't love me. He didn't even see me. I was just a warm-bodied placeholder for the woman he actually wanted. And apparently, I wasn't even worth as much as a glorified coffee cup. So I slapped him right back, dumped his ass, and prepared for disaster-my parents losing their minds, Rhys throwing a billionaire tantrum, his terrifying family plotting my untimely demise. Obviously, I needed alcohol. A lot of alcohol. Enter him. Tall, dangerous, unfairly hot. The kind of man who makes you want to sin just by existing. I'd met him only once before, and that night, he just happened to be at the same bar as my drunk, self-pitying self. So I did the only logical thing: I dragged him into a hotel room and ripped off his clothes. It was reckless. It was stupid. It was completely ill-advised. But it was also: Best. Sex. Of. My. Life. And, as it turned out, the best decision I'd ever made. Because my one-night stand isn't just some random guy. He's richer than Rhys, more powerful than my entire family, and definitely more dangerous than I should be playing with. And now, he's not letting me go.
For three years, I documented the slow death of my marriage in a black journal. It was my 100-point divorce plan: for every time my husband, Blake, chose his first love, Ariana, over me, I deducted points. When the score hit zero, I would leave. The final points vanished the night he left me bleeding out from a car crash. I was eight weeks pregnant with the child we had prayed for. In the ER, the nurses frantically called him-the star surgeon of the very hospital I was dying in. "Dr. Santos, we have a Jane Doe, O-negative, bleeding out. She's pregnant, and we're about to lose them both. We need you to authorize an emergency blood transfer." His voice came over the speaker, cold and impatient. "I can't. My priority is Miss Whitfield. Do what you can for the patient, but I can't divert anything right now." He hung up. He condemned his own child to death to ensure his ex-girlfriend had resources on standby after a minor procedure.
On the day of her grand engagement, she was betrayed by her fiancé and stepsister and died in a cruel setup. But fate gave her a second chance. Reborn as a sharp, fearless woman, the once naïve heiress is back for revenge. Those who hurt her will pay-one by one. Armed with financial brilliance and a ruthless heart, she rises to the top of the business world. But she catches the attention of a powerful CEO who is even more dangerous-cold, calculating, and determined to make her his wife. Two masterminds collide in a fiery romance filled with schemes, passion, and payback. In this game of love and power, only they are worthy opponents-and perfect partners.
Khloe lost her sight to save her fiancé, only to be betrayed on their wedding eve when he handed her over to a notorious man to clear his debts. Shattered, Khloe agreed to the arrangement, and rumors swirled that she and her groom were hopeless. No one expected the blind woman to stun the world-a prodigy in fragrance, a world-class hacker, a racing legend, and the secret head of a peacekeeping force. The nation was amazed, and her ex-fiancé most of all. Drunk and remorseful, he told the press, "My biggest regret is losing Khloe. Now she's someone else's!"
