Brooke woke the next morning feeling disoriented by her surroundings. She had taken the time to make the bed in her favorite linens and comforter, piling it high with pillows she fell asleep clinging to in order to feel less alone. The sounds of the cabin were strange. Inside it seemed as if the wood floors cracked and creaked as the night air cooled. Every now and then the outside noice of wind whipping and trees rustling made it through the thin sound barrier of her windows.
