Chapter 1 The Incident

"Harder, baby...Yessss...f**k...! Oh, God!!"

Galatea froze at the sight. She had heard the noises from the moment she walked into the house, and she knew she was supposed to ignore them and go straight to her room. But her fragile heart was in control the whole time, and now she was standing behind the slightly opened door, watching her husband, the Alpha of the Dark Eclipse, Ethan Shaw, screw his girlfriend, Amethyst.

She was on all fours and moaning at the top of her lungs. It was something any regular wolf could hear from a distance, but for her, she only heard the noise when she was almost at the mansion.

Gala's eyes swelled with tears, and the liquid began rolling down her face. She's always known Ethan would choose Amy over her, and that they've known each other for so long.

Ethan has had a huge crush on Amy since childhood, and Amy, being the daughter of the former beta, holds a prestigious position in the pack. They'd been lovers for many years before Galatea came into the picture.

Ryan Shaw, Ethan's Grandfather had pushed Ethan into marrying Galatea three years ago. Ryan never approved of Amy for certain reasons, and Ethan had married Galatea with the promise from Ryan that he would finally sign the papers and give Ethan the Family Company if Ethan treated Galatea well.

But so far, it's been nothing but hell. Right from the start of the marriage, Ethan had made it clear to Gala that he had absolutely nothing to do with her, and Amy was the one he wanted. He had also threatened her to make sure his grandpa never found out Amy was still in the picture. The first time Galatea had spoken up and complained about his actions, Ethan had slapped her so hard her face remained swollen for the whole day and she could barely move it.

If she had been a regular human, that slap would have ripped off her face from her neck.

Galatea had only accepted the marriage because she thought it would make her life better. Orphaned from a baby and adopted by non-loving parents, she had to do everything for herself till she turned eighteen when her adopted parents passed away during a trip where they were caught in the crossfire of an ambush and killed ruthlessly.

That was when she stumbled upon Ryan, who took an interest in her and talked her into marrying his son, the Alpha.

Back then, if she knew she would end up stuck in this loveless, lifeless and mateless marriage, she would have declined his generous offer. Yes, it gave her a roof over her head and three square meals, but the insults and abuse that came with it were tough.

Galatea swallowed the lump in her throat. She looked away, angry at herself. She had not just gotten married to someone who hated her but had also fallen in love with him at first sight. She hated those feelings that refused to go, even after everything he had done to her.

And seeing him with another woman...the tears came down harder.

Suddenly, Ethan snapped his gaze to the door and their eyes met for a brief moment. Gala was instantly on the run, knowing very well she was in big trouble. She was scared of what he would do to her this time, and if she would be able to take it again.

She knew very well she wasn't supposed to watch them. She should have left the vicinity the moment she realised what they were doing, but she had been so...

A large hand gripped her arm, and claws dug into her skin as Ethan whirled her to face him.

"You Wolfless wench! What the hell did you think you were doing?!" He barked at her face.

He was naked, and behind him was Amy leaning on the wall. They were both glaring at her.

"I...I didn't...,"

"You're crazy, do you know that?" He gripped her even tighter and blood dropped from the injury he was inflicting on her.

Gala winced in pain, pleading with her eyes, "I'm sorry, it won't happen again,"

"If you're really sorry, you would have convinced him by now to give me the properties. Have you?!"

"I told you before," Gala cried, enduring the pain, "He thinks I'm lying. Grandpa is a smart man; he doesn't believe we are in a happy marriage. He says...he says he wants children...,"

Ethan's eyes shone red and he gripped her neck the next second, squeezing the life out of her, "I would never have sex with you. You're nothing...I would never mix with you, you little good-for-nothing. Find another way to convince him!"

Galatea couldn't breathe. Her eyes were red from pain, and he was too strong for her to fight off, "Y...yes...Alpha...," She forced out.

"Grandfather doesn't listen to me, you know that! I don't care what you have to do to convince him, but you better do it and you do it fast. I've been stuck in this marriage for over three years, and I would rather kill you than let it go further than this," Ethan spat out, leaning his face closer to hers, "You wanted to marry me, you got what you wanted. The quicker you get him to give me the company, the quicker we can be done with this and I'll divorce you. So instead of watching me fuck Amy and wish you were the one I was screwing like that, focus on what you have to do...or I'll make sure you live in hell for the rest of your life. Do I make myself clear?!"

Barely, Galatea managed to nod and he released her.

Galatea fell to the floor, gasping for air. Her arm was bleeding, but what hurt more was her chest. Tears flooded her eyes once again, and her heart clenched harder. Can she continue to live like this?

She couldn't even run away even if she wanted to. Ethan will find her and drag her back here with death threats. Outrunning him wasn't an option since he had done it before.

Looking up, she saw Amy staring at her with a lazy smirk in her eyes, "It still baffles me how you thought you could throw yourself into his arms. You're really pathetic, Galatea,"

"I... didn't do anything,"

"Ohhhh, don't act innocent. Everyone sees the way you look at him. Loving someone who hates you to the core must be so hard...ouch! You're even more pathetic than I remembered,"

"She's a fool," Ethan said as he got to where Amy stood, and they began making out almost immediately.

Galatea watched them, this time with anger pouring from her crying eyes. Her hands turned into fists and she pushed herself off the floor. She was crazy with anger and resentment and was somehow, after three unfaithful years, finally beginning to shake away the stupid love she had for him.

Would she let them get away with this? It had to end, or they would eventually kill her.

"I want to go grocery shopping again tomorrow, and I need your help," Ryan Shaw said from the other side of the phone.

Galatea bit her lips, staring at the view of the city below her. By tomorrow, the choking pain should have subsided and the handprint should be gone. Even if it's not, she would simply wear a scarf around her neck since it's cold out and looks like it might rain any day from now.

"Of course, Grandpa. I'll be there," She said, trying to sound as excited as she could. Ryan was in his late seventies and was bound to a wheelchair. He's been like that ever since she met him.

"Are you home right now?" He inquired.

"No, I'm at my usual spot. I'll be home in about an hour, I promise," She said sincerely.

"Are you pregnant yet, dear?"

Gala choked on nothing, but quickly composed herself again, "No news, Grandpa. I'm really sorry,"

He must have heard something from her voice there because he asked again, "Are you sure you're alright? I...," He paused for a few seconds.

"Grandpa, are you there?"

"Yes, I thought I heard someone's footsteps. I think I have a visitor,"

Footsteps? "Alright, Grandpa. We'll talk when you're done,"

The call ended, and Gala drew in a deep breath. She's been continuously lying to Ryan for over three years now because she was too scared of what Ethan would do to her if she ever said the truth.

Right now, the only thing calming down her spiking nerves was the view of the city below her. It was a beautiful city not too far from the small town where the Dark-Eclipse Pack lived, and Gala always came here atop the hills to enjoy the calming and breathtaking view of it, especially at night with the city's lights on.

It was almost midnight when Galatea decided to go back to the mansion. Hopefully, she wouldn't run into Amy or her so-called husband tonight. It was a thirty-minute run from her spot to the mansion, and as she approached it...she noticed there were people gathered inside.

As she gained closer to them, she heard their whispers.

'I can't believe he's dead!'

'How could she do such a villainous thing!'

'He trusted her so much! She was the next person he's been close to ever since his wife and son passed away!'

'She should be killed! She's a monster!'

What the heck were they talking about? What happened?

"There she is!!" Someone yelled from the crowd, pointing directly at her with hatred.

Everyone turned to her with the same heinous look, and Gala froze once again. Why...were they staring at her like that?

Suddenly, two male wolves came out of nowhere and grabbed her, locking their arms firmly around hers. The hold instantly rekindled the pain of her wounded arm, and she groaned as she was dragged into the mansion.

Gala was scared. Why was this happening?

"What are you doing? Let go of me!!" She yelled helplessly.

Before they even got into the mansion, Amy, Ethan and Jason, Ethan's best friend, stepped out, staring at her with venom dripping from their eyes. It was a look more murderous than any they have ever given her, especially Ethan who also seemed to have unshed tears in his eyes.

"You killed him!" He exclaimed with fire in his eyes.

He moved so fast she lost sight of him till something hard knocked into her sides and her body was sent flying, before she crashed on the ground, rolling on the hard floor. Her body cried with pain, and blood ran down her forehead.

"How could you? You Bitch! How could you kill him? How could you kill the Alpha's Grandfather?!" Amy lashed out.

Gala couldn't believe her ears, and looked up at Amy, "What...did you just say?"
