The Betrayal

"Whoop!! Came the whip on Katie's back and she moaned in agony. Even with the disgraceful punishment she was facing, she had a stone heart. She would never yield or beg for mercy, she would rather be burnt alive..... apparently she was daring them to do their worse.

Immediately she heard that she had been summoned by the king her heart flinched, right there she knew she was finished. The little dignity and self respect the subject in the whole of Decreash had for her would surely be vanquished.

Katie, the third queen of Decreash often called the queen of beauty, was dragged along the dazzlingly tiled floor of the hall to the throne room where King Haron was sitted. The cold gaze he had on her was enough to sound a warning of caution but Katie was foolish enough to still wag her tongue carelessly arousing Haron already dampened mood.

"Let go of me you wretched fools, I am not guilty of anything." She dared to say and received a tight slap from one of the guards. Immediately she bursts into uncontrollable wailing cursing them with a high pitch. Finally she was dumped violently on the bare floor facing Haron who was sitted majestically on his throne. Immediately Katie raised her gaze to glance at Haron her heart missed a beat.

Her makeup was already ruined and was trailing down her cheek making her look hideous. Just then a man was also dumped on the floor beside Katie, he was quivering like a drenched cat and unlike Katie he didn't dare to gaze at Haron. This was the same man Katie had been having an affair with. Haron studied her contenance for a while, he was searching for a trace of remorse but found none.

There was a lady wearing a red flowing gown, standing some distance away from the scene, her hair was packed in a bun and her red lustrous lip was plastered with a smile. "What a shameless woman! It serves her right to be treated like the animal she is." This was Lora muttering some words under her breath. The second queen of Decreash, often called the queen of tactics.

Katie had only five minutes to state her side of the story, which of course she didn't hesitate to do. Infact she was very glad she had the chance to say those words to Haron's face, she has never felt so alive. "Yes I cheated on you, and I enjoyed it." She broke into a cunning laughter and received a tight slap causing her to choke and vomit blood. But that didn't stop her from rattling along.

"How does it feel to see your wife love another man huh? She twisted her lips and suddenly wore a distorted look. "This kingdom, the fake life, this marriage is all a charade, I hate this place and most especially I hate you Haron! She boldly said and this time she was surprised she didn't receive a heavy punch from the guards. That was because the guards were too amused to move a muscle, just a second ago, Katie had dared to address their master without adding the title."Lord", as per tradition.

Formally Haron is always addressed by his wife as My Lord, hearing Katie utter his name really messed up Haron's hatred for her, if looks could kill, Katie would have long vanished from existence. "How pathetic." Those were the only words that slide from Haron's mouth before he signaled the guards to take Katie to the dungeon. He had already heard what he needed to hear, and that was to confirm the ongoing rumors that his third wife was nothing but a whore.

The man who Katie had an affair with was immediately led to an open space where he was beheaded Infront of the subjects of Decreash. This would serve as a warning to any common man eyeing any of the King's wife lustfully. Haron didn't give him a chance to tell his side of his story, actually he didn't deserve that privilege. As Katie was dragged along the tiled floor her eyes flashed at Lora who was grinning hard. Katie knew it was Lora that exposed her, she could never understand why Lora hated her so much.

"You will pay for this." Katie muttered and Lora was able to read her lips. She arched her brows, refusing to say a word she simply turned around and walked away while fanning herself with her fancy feathered hand fan.

Frankly speaking the man, which name was Lohun was seduced by Katie.

At first he had refused, he was a very handsome servant in the kingdom and when Katie had first set her eyes on him she immediately fell in love with him, she made a lot of attempts to make him feel the same way and eventually he fell for her......which of course was a foolish thing to do.

Her beauty could make any man fall on his kneels, men would line up just to see Katie's face. That was how she was able to find a way into Haron's harem, her beauty couldn't be hidden.

Katie hated her marriage to Haron, she felt betrayed when her father gave her away like a piece of furniture to the Royal family of Decreash just to form an alliance between them. Even as a princess she had always had a glimpse of true love but her marriage to Haron killed those dreams.

"Duty comes first." That was what her mother had told her and that was the last thing she remembered before gulping down the bowl of poison giving to her by the guards as a punishment for going against one of the rules of the kingdom. Katie's punishment was death, not disgracefuly but slowly.

"At last! One down three more to go", Lora shrilled as she sat on a red cushion in her customized room sipping from a golden cup containing sweet wine. A maid was massaging her feet. Just then her royal servant, ran into the room to inform Lora of Katie's death. Her heart gladded and she rejoiced.

Even till now no one could understand why Haron would make such a woman his wife. There were rumors going round that she charmed him, others suggested she was into sorcery. All of those rumors were false and couldn't be proven. Lora features were of course tantalizing, pink thin lips, long lashes, short dark hair with a pair of brown eyes. She was pretty but no one could surpass Katie's beauty, her creator took his sweet time.

Lora hated all her rivals, which of course were the king other wives. She always bit her lips in pain when she recalled how Haron brought in Katie and she replaced her place in Haron's heart.

This of course was a misinterpretation, Katie never found her way to Haron's heart, infact he hardly ever talked to her, maybe this was the reason she fell in love with maid and even had an affair. Lora's hatred for Katie blinded her, she had always thought that she would be Haron's favorite and last wife, but damn she was wrong. After her came Katie, then Jia and Tani. Altogether Decreash had five queens.

Lora was the brain behind Katie's leaked secret. As a matter of fact when Lora had found out from one of Katie's royal maid that she was having an affair she took it upon herself to make sure Katie ceased from existence after exposing her, cleverly her plans were achieved. "Now I can have my peace of mind knowing I have three more rats to get rid of. "Lora ranted on to the displeasure of the maid.

Whoever knew that Katie could be so foolish, cheating on Haron ahh! That was abominable, no matter how desperate, Lora could beat her chest that she would never do such a thing. That would leave a scar on her reputation, and destroy her dignity. Katie had always been her worst rival, in beauty, knowing fully well of such a charming feature that made the whole of Decreash forget their second queen, Lora waited in ambush for the right opportunity to unleash her terror on Katie....the right time finally.

While Lora was busy sleeping peacefully, there was another queen pacing up and down in her chamber, her gaze was distant as she tried to fathom something out. "Katie is dead? "This is unbelievable." She mustered the strength to say. Her brown hair was bouncing as she swayed her face from side to side, it was obvious that she wasn't that pretty by a mere glance. One would begin to wonder why on earth would King Haron of Decreash go ahead to make such a woman his first wife, what is so special about her?

The truth was that Haron's hand pick was not based on only physical appearance but also intellectual standard. This was where Rachel comes in, the first queen of Decreash, often known as the queen of wisdom. Even Haron's royal advisor would be an amateurs in front of this woman. Her word were little but could kill if dangerous. She had the skills of a royal knight, from horse riding to a perfect aiming point during archery training.

She handles a sword with such dexterity that cannot be underestimated. Who would have thought that this were the reason Haron made her his wife. To be candour nobody but himself was aware of Rachel's skill, this was because he didn't like to show of his wives.

Katie was the only one he had dared to take along to royal invitations, now look at were that ended. "Yes my lady she was found guilty of having an affair with one of the palace male servant ." Rani said with her gaze down, she was one of Rachel's royal maid, and the one Rachel directed her questions to.

Rachel frown deepened the more, she couldn't place her fingers on something. Paying close attention to what Rani told her about Katie's death there was only two things she was able to deduct from the story. Firstly Katie's royal maid betrayed her by telling Lora about Katie's affair with the male servant, secondly immediately Katie died there was no burial, neither did the royal family of vaneash, which was Katie's family, come to see their daughter. With this Rachel gaze at the long glass window in her room, sighing heavily...... "There is something wrong."

Everywhere in the kingdom was overwhelmed with a powerful scent of fragrance. It was pleasant but will definitely unnerve Haron. Not a single person payed heed to this seemingly arousing fragrance

Everyone working in the kingdom were well away of the person behind it. Jia was simply taking a shampoo bath, just a bath! The maids which were helping her out were nearly choking to death. What kind of shampoo had such a strong scent they all wondered, but their mistress didn't even flinch infact she was adding more shampoo to the bubble bath which had rose petals.

One of Decreash popular queen, you can't walk past Jia without stopping to inhale her nice fragrance. Often called the queen of luxury, Jia had a good eye for things, most of the popular skin care products that were imported from other kingdoms were given to her. Her chamber had the best designs, crafted to her high taste. After stepping out of the bubble bath she was wrapped with a towel and led to the dressing mirror. The maids got to work, massaging her with different expensive oil, and natural appetizers. They always prepared their mind when coming to Jia's room. Out of all the queen she was the most difficult to please, and her bath routine was like a burden, but who could they complain to?

Haron had secretly called the elders to an urgent meeting, after dispersing his ex- wife Katie he needed a new figure to fill in that space. As a matter of fact, Decreash would be having a new queen.
