The full moon fell on us to provide the light, but since that couldn't be enough to see the battle, they placed fire around the battlefield to prevent anyone from entering inside. There he was, my love, standing outside as he howled in sadness, knowing he was about to face death or deal with the guilt of having royal blood on his hands.
I looked at him, hoping it was not going to be my last, but he smiled at me to give me a reassuring smile. Though it didn't work, my heart still couldn't rest at what my eyes were about to witness. I sat at a secluded place dividing me from the pack, though high enough to see everyone and everything happening; behind me stood Luca's men, the alpha men, to keep guard and eyes on me.
He entered Luca to the ring, he didn't bother if the fire would burn him as he walked through to enter, maybe it's because of his cold heart that made him invisible to fire, I thought, but he was big, twice the size as that of my mate, his howl was so loud one might mistake it for a roar, he commanded the attention of everyone in there as they cheer for him, everyone was happy apart from me and Theo.
Don't get me wrong, Theo is not rich which is why my father opposed our relationship but I'm too stubborn to listen to him, which is why we are here today. Compared to the Alpha, Theo had nothing except from my heart which Luca craved for but couldn't have unless Theo is dead.
As I was lost in my thoughts, two of Luca's men entered the battleground. My fear came alive; Luca wouldn't want a fair fight despite him being the most powerful man on that battleground, his hate for Theo drove him crazy, and he was thirsty for blood.
As I watched the battle begin, my heart sank. It was three men against one, how fair. They ambushed him, and with every blow, my heart sank, my tears fell down, yet no sound agreed to come out of my mouth.
"Stop," I cried out loud finally, but my voice was just like a water drop inside the ocean; I couldn't hear the crowd cheering out my cry; I couldn't believe it. They were cheering on the injustice happening on the field.
"These bastards!" I said in anger while trying to get up but I was stopped by Luca men.
"Let go of me," I said, sitting back while looking at my Theo.
"Theo, rise up, please rise up," I cried, hoping he could hear me.
He heard me as he turned his face to check my direction but Luca's men would give him a break as they continuously hit him, he smiles revealing blood on his mouth, I couldn't bear it anymore he was the one being beaten but I received every single pain each blow carried and I couldn't sit down and watch this happened.
One of the men lost guard, and I took the opportunity to run close to the ring, and I knelt there; the guard came to take me, but just from a single wave of Luca, they stopped, and he walked in my direction.
"What can I do for you," He spoke with a mischievous smile.
Oh! I wasn't buying his flirting while a war was going on.
"Please don't kill him; I'll be your Luna, but please spare him," I said., tears, hoping to change his mind, and bit instead, and he smiled and laughed.
How ruthless was this man? Even after I begged and placed myself on his mercy, he laughed at me; what was his plan for my Theo? What did he want?.
"Zuriel, I'm not stupid," He said in a cold tone; even the devil got chills from the evil that this man carried.
The two men lifted Theo up getting him ready to receive blows from Luca and they brought my Theo next to me so I could see every detail, The audacity of Theo to still look at me and smile, he should be in pain but not one time did I hear his cry since they started beating him, the injuries could be seen even though his brown fur was trying to cover it, it was as if he was in no pain.
Luca went and dropped a very powerful blow on Theo's face; it was so powerful that it could be heard even with the cheering going on, Theo's tooth came and fell next to me, and then he took a dagger and plugged it severally into Theo's chest.
"No!" I screamed.
This time nothing could stop me, I walked through the fire and ran to Theo, they through him as a bag and I ran to rescue his head from hitting a rock, he fell on my lap and instead of all this he still smiled, he still managed to wipe my tears just like he used to but this one's was for him, he removed his necklace and handed it over to me secretly, I leaned forward to receive my final kiss but Luca's men hold me back.
They dragged Theo, who still looked at me, not even confirming his death. They threw him down a stiff and rocky hill; the only thing I heard was Theo's body after being thrown almost a 1500-meter hill.
One of the men came back holding Theo's head, confirming his death; my body suddenly became weak seeing this; I could hold it as I fell down on the ground and fainted.
