I was humiliated, betrayed. I sold my soul to the devil for the protection of my family, and I've gone to hell with him. But he'll pay; I'll make him pay. When the time comes, he'll feel my wrath, but for now, I'll be his obedient pet.
As we stepped out with Mom on a Monday morning, a cold chill ran through me, I should have worn thick clothes. Aurora was in high spirits, mom was... well, disturbed for some reason. But I was happy nonetheless. It's been 5 years since I've gone outside which doesn't include school and even at that we always have a designated driver that makes sure we arrive and stay in school. My father makes sure we don't keep friends and do you want to know the worst part? We change locations like it's a holiday, which I presume is because of his work.
We climbed into the car and Mom drove us. The morning air was fresh but I could hear the heavy signs coming from her. Occasionally she'd glance through the rearview mirror searching for something I couldn't decipher. Aurora couldn't be bothered, she had been yapping since we stepped out of the house. She makes sure we know her life history which includes when a guy sent a love letter to her or was it when her crush peed on his pants. Which actually made me chuckle, I'll give her that. She has this nonchalant attitude which can be exhausting but at this particular point in time, it's what I needed.
"He actually peed on his pants!" Aurora excitedly narrated.
"Was it embarrassing?" I asked her even knowing the answer.
"Oh! You should've seen his face, it was red," she answered while laughing.
I let out a small chuckle as I looked outside taking in the chill breeze.
I've always received compliments about my maturity, and how I act older than my age. I guess I take after Dad. He always has this questioning look etched on his face giving him a dead-serious demeanor.
A breathy hiss came from the driver seat of the car which could have gone unnoticed but it filled my ears regardless, mother was becoming too distressed and it made me restless. I looked through the rearview mirror to understand her plight but was met with black cars going about their day or so I thought then.
Mom stopped in front of the park and Aurora and I flew towards the amusement park in excitement holding each other's hands. Mom was tagging behind but was still edgy as if someone was chasing us which I could have known better.
The day was immersed in happiness for me, Aurora and Mom till it wasn't. We rode roller coasters, Ferris wheels, bumper cars and water rides. I was filled with happiness enjoying the peaceful time with the people I love. Aurora suggested we get ice cream which we did.
Coming back home was like coming back to prison and forgetting the happiness one once felt.
As we stepped into our house we were greeted by seven unfamiliar men. Each one was a towering mass of muscle and menace, their face were etched with a map of scars. One of them, whom I presumed to be their boss, sat on a single cushion, his legs crossed, idly swinging a pocket knife between his fingers.
I was trembling, Aurora had stopped on her track, her legs shaking. Mom was putting on a fake boldface. A foul chill ran through my whole body, my blood was boiling and at that moment he chose to speak up.
"So this is the popular Silencer's wife and kids, he hid y'all well. Don't ya think?" He mocked with a devilish smile which made the hairs on my body stand.
I was breathing heavily gasping for air, and the other hefty men walked aggressively towards us and held us down. My mom responded to the man still putting on a fake persona.
"How many years did it take to find us? Oh! Someone is catching up", Her voice conveys a sense of anger as she spits on his face.
The man angrily stood up and dragged my mom's hair as she steely glared at him. He smacked his hand in her face and the place darkened leaving drops of blood in its wake.
I swallowed a non-existent saliva down my throat. Aurora was already bawling her eyes out.
"Maybe if you behaved a little better for me I'll pardon you", he held my mom's face against his thumb pad, caressing her face.
I was holding back tears while watching all these unfold in front of me. My hands were clammy, I held my already weather-beaten lips tightly.
Another slap was heard as Mom spit again in his face. The man's ring had cut the flesh out of my mom's face and blood gushed out.
"Bitch! You'll regret ever talking back at me!" He brought out his pocket knife and started swinging it in front of my mom's face demanding her to beg for his mercy.
"Bitch beg me to kill you slowly", he bent his face to her ears, snickering sadistically. He swiped his hand across her bloody face and brought it to his mouth tasting the liquid metal. He sneered and brought the knife to her chest region attempting to cut her clothes off with it.
My mom was still, and not a single tear was shed, I silently cried for her. Her desire to protect us was evident in her eyes but she masked her emotions hoping it'll create a sense of security for us.
"What will the mighty Silencer say about this, let's see," he paused, ransacking through my mom's bag, bringing out her phone he dialed a number.
"See who picked up," he roared maniacally as he licked his lips in a perverted manner. "Oh dear Silencer, your dear wife is very sweet and will even be sweeter in bed. You think I won't ever find you? You call us bluff?"
He put the phone on loudspeaker.
A very calming voice was heard from the other line, my father was very calm in the midst of this storm, my father was fucking calm.
"Who sent you?" my father's voice even, his volume low.
"Silencer! Silencer! Silencer!" The man thundered as he swiveled around, his gaze sweeping across the room staring at all the figures before him. A sly grin spreads across his face, his lips curling into a devilish smile as he repeats the question, his voice low and menacing. "Who sent us? Who fucking sent us?" he growled into the phone, his eyes glinting with anger.
His hand connected with my mom's face once again and the sound echoed through the room. "Fucking watching as I slowly kill your wife, Silencer," at that point, he had reached his boiling point. He ripped my mom's clothes from chest to waist exposing her torso.
"This is a warning, Red. Don't. You. Fucking. Dare!" For the first time, anger was detected in my father's voice.
"You know where to fucking find me Silencer! Till then see you!" He threw the phone across the room.
He cuts open her bra and there he raped her while my mom was struggling to fight him off. Aurora was across the room, her voice shrill with rage, tears streaming down her face. But there I was, dumbfounded with heart heavy, anger clawed at my chest. I watched as the man forcibly molested my mom without a single word falling from my lips.
The man roared and ordered the others to fill the whole house with flammable liquid. He slices the knife all over her body, blood seeps to the surface and plastered the whole room. All of a sudden the air swirls hot, my stomach churns, and I can taste the metallic liquid on my lips. This fucking ugly man had killed my mom, he had swung his knife through her 10 fucking bad times!10 fucking bad times!. My jaw was grinding, I lost my voice, couldn't utter a word.
My breathing was shallow. Disdain rushed all over my body. While my sister was busy begging the man to stop, I was begging for his knife.
A hand reached through my shoulder and shoved me towards my mom. Aurora was bawling her eyes out, I felt nothingness in me, numb as my mom's wide eyes were no more looking at me, her once bright green eyes were now devoid of nothing but death. I stretched my hands and draped her eyes shut.
The man was getting a twisted pleasure from the scene.
A blaring noise from the police car was heard and he quickly ordered them to light the whole place.
The whole house was surrounded by flames, the gaseous smoke filling my nose, and my eyes fell shut as darkness enveloped me.
