"I'll do anything! I'll become a slave if you want me to! I'll wash with the omegas' if you want me to! I'll do anything. But don't let me go with him, please, father! I'll do anything! I'll kill myself even if you want me to! Father, please!" She pleaded persistently, not minding the looks the people of the pack gave her. **************** Kyra Redwood, the daughter of the Redwood pack and the useless and weak princess of the pack, has never for once seen love her entire life, even from her parents. Roderick Dark Shield, the head of all devils as known to be, has set his eyes on her and needed something she had in her, something no one could ever possess. Norway Blackthorne, the gentle but dangerous Alpha of all rogues, has set his eyes on her because the devil liked her, and he wanted everything the devil set his eyes upon. Caught in between the two Alphas, each with great power. Would Kyra find love, or would it just be a battle of power?
Kyra pov
My hands formed into tight fists, rage simmering under the surface. "I won't be subject to your machinations!"
"Machinations? It's quite the opposite, Kyra. I want to elevate you. You shall be formidable alongside me." He moved closer, his warm breath grazing the skin around my neck. "And you will grow to adore me."
That made me want to vomit but another part of me was attracted to him in ways I couldn't comprehend. The mate bond was such a horrible turn of events that it started a fire of longing in me that I wished to smother completely.
"Never," I said, my voice firm, but shaking. "I will find a way out of this. I will not be your plaything."
"Good luck with that," he said, amusement flickering in his gaze. "But remember, Kyra, the more you struggle, the worse the pain is going to be."
Pausing for a moment to look at her, he turned on his heels and strode to the door, which clicked shut behind him as he exited. It was the third time that I reviewed the room and realized with dread that I was once again all alone - as if inside a beautiful torture chamber. I flopped on the bed and buried my face in my palms, tears taking the pace down my cheeks like rivers.
What good had come from this that warranted such malice? For all my life, I had been the frail one, the one limitlessly ignored and now I was, unfortunately, ruled by a tyrant. He cut deep into my hope yet within lingered a soft pulse of defiance. I will not allow myself to lose.
This torment had to have an end, I would brawl in Roderick's dark with no fears of how dreadful his forces were. My sister's image was a specter that constantly actively resisted the ties that also wished to cloak me around him.
As night ripened, I dozed not, rather engrossed in deep ceiling hypnosis, wondering what would be my next action. I would no longer be a beneficiary. I shall take back my normal life, even if no one understands that it would mean confronting the Devil.
The following day, I was up early due to some soft noises outside my room. My heart began beating fast, and I sat up in bed, wiping off the traces of sleep from my eyes. The lavish comfort surrounding me felt rather suspicious, like a fantasy that I didn't want to wake up from.
I turned around the room, looking and admiring the comfort while still perplexed by the realization of the current state of affairs. I was in Roderick Darkshield's territory, a mere pawn in his sadistic game.
As I was still trying to comprehend my new environment, the door opened, and a woman walked in. She had long black hair that rested on her back, and her warm pair of eyes were the total opposite of the coldness of the mansion. "Good morning, Kyra," she spoke softly, a pleasant smile creasing her lips. "I am Sarah. I have been told to help you with settling down."
"Help me settle down?" I repeated with disbelief in my tone. "You mean help me cope with being held captive within these walls?"
Sarah's face looked as if she was caught in the act for a moment, but it borderline annoyed her. "I know it's a lot of change, but Roderick is trying to help you and it entails better things."
"Better for me?" A bitter laugh escaped from my lips. "You mean it is better for him. He has already made it clear he considers me nothing but a prize."
"Roderick can get... overzealous," Sarah said while looking down. "But he is not completely cruel. His past has not been easy and within you, he sees a soul."
"Sees a soul?" I let out a harsh laugh. "You are joking. All I see is a greedy man who takes whatever he wants without any hesitation."
"Maybe," She said, her voice a notch lower. "But he can also be the one to shield you. It is safer for you here than in the Redwood pack."
"Safer?" I retorted. "You consider this safe? I would prefer the odds of my pack to go through this with that man who views women as breeding machines."
Sarah exhaled and looked ready to sympathize. "I understand you find it difficult to look at things from his side, but just consider that he is trying to build something here – a barrier to the rogues. You could fit into that."
"Or I could be a piece on his chess board," I retorted, defiantly hugging my chest. "I have no desire to partake in his little projects."
"Then what do you suggest?" she asked, frowning. "Escaping? That would only put you in more peril."
"I'll manage to get out," I persisted, the steel in my voice not lessening a fraction. "I will not remain his captive for long."
"Just... think it over Kyra," Sarah said softly. "You have more influence than you realize. Do not look down on yourself."
As she finished this, she turned away, and I called her again. "Wait! But what if I need you?"
"In that case, you need not worry. I'll always be around," she said then smiled and vanished through the door.
I perched on the bed with my thoughts in turmoil. It was time to strategize, to think of ways to gather intelligence. Roderick may have had the upper hand and caught me in a trap, but I was resolute that I would find a way out of this horrible situation.
Later on, I found myself strolling through the corridors of the house, giving in to the temptation to sojourn. The opulent interior was choking and each detail planning, an imposition of my imprisonment. Turning around, I almost bumped into none other than Roderick himself.
"Oh, Kyra," he said with a pleasant and captivating timbre. "You are moving around, are you? I trust that everything is quite alright with you."
"Like one of those high-class prisons," I retorted, feeling the annoyance rise within me, "beautiful yet annoying, still a prison."
Roderick smirked and took a step closer to me as if to suggest a challenge for personal space. "You shall acclimatize. Someday, you will learn to call this very place home."
"This will never be Home," I fired back at him, wishing I had more strength to shove his body. "I will not let you make me live this life."
"Make you?" He appeared inquisitive, a smirk playing on his red eyes. "You are wasting your words, Kyra. There is no need for such tactics. You will realize the advantages of being my Luna."
