--Athena's POV--
Red. It has always been my favorite color. Red is hot, red is romance, red is home, red brings me luck.
"I see no special on site. Two men in corporate, sitting on the C-type," I talked to him through my earpiece.
In the hug of the red dress to my body, it sits upon my skin. Even my perfume smells like fresh red roses with a fusion of fruity scent. Full of confidence, I trailed the entrance of the high-end lounge. My red heels clacked on the floor of the place. I see some people glancing at me as I walk into the not-so-crowded lounge. Sniffing the polluted air brings me excitement, just like that, I'm in my workplace.
" Seek every corner. To my record he must've arrived by now." I heard Peter talk in my in-ear.
I sat on the high-stool chair, still scanning the whole place, and thought, 'Where the hell are you, Mr. Knight? I'm not used to dealing with punctuality issues. You should be the one waiting, you idiot.'
"What does he look like again?" I asked Peter, while signing the bartender, to give me a drink.
"What the heck, Athena? I thought you were listening to a while ago. I explained it all to you!" He nagged.
I smiled sweetly at the bartender when he handed me my drink before I rolled my eyes. I know it's my fault, but I'm not in my senses when he explained it all to me.
" Don't get so grumpy. Don't worry, this will be my last Peter." I uttered.
" And you're still not telling me the reason why. I thought we're in this together?" he asked. I didn't answer him.
I sipped on my drink while I leaned on the countertop. I was scanning the whole place, and no one seemed to catch my eye except for the two men who's sitting on the C-type sofa. One is a bit older while the other one is seemingly looking like a bachelor. I know Peter's taste, he would never get a ragged-looking businessman, so for sure Mr. Knight looks like him.
I gritted my jaw. I caught one of the men sitting at the C-type sofa and laid an eye on me. His eyes are cold; the more I stare at him, the more I look deeply at my own. Even with the flashing lights, I could see how his eyes were fixated on me. While I'm sipping my drink I winked at him. And damn! This cold man had no reaction at all.
"Still nothing in sight? I double checked it already and her secretary says he's out. Are you sure you've seen enough?" Said Peter.
I didn't remove my gaze from the man. His loose tie hangs freely on his neck. The first three buttons are opened. His legs are spread widely on the couch, or I must say, his massiveness is just too overwhelming for that pitiful seat. He's holding a glass of rum and sipping it from time to time.
Out of the two, he's the one who's noticeable enough because of his dark aura.He wasn't even paying attention to the lady beside her. I guess someone caught his interest, huh?
"I said what the fvck he looks like?" I asked while smirking at the man from afar.
"Goddamnit, Athena. You knew it when you saw it." I can hear Peter's frustration.
Last sip on my drink before I put the martini glass on the counter. I removed my tiny earpiece and dunk it into the glass, soaking. Target Locked. I handed him a cold bill before wiping my lips. Damn, red lipstick.
I stood up confidently without breaking our sight. Let's get this done.
His eyes didn't even change emotion when I arrived in front of him. I saw the woman beside him looking at me. I raised a brow at her, and just like that she left, murmuring like a dying old pus$y.
The man eyed the woman who had left and smirked. My lips protruded, and without any word, I sat on one of his legs. I felt how he's taken back by my actions, but that's just for a short period of time. He got back and stared at me coldly.
I crossed my legs while comfortably sitting on his legs. I ran my fingers to my hair and proceeded to put my hair on my left shoulder, so that he'd have a better view of my perfectly carved neck and collar bone.
"What do you need, Miss?" he asked.
I pursed my lips. Oof, cold and deep brooding voice.
"You owe me something mister." I uttered and placed my hand on the back of his head. Soft and clean-cut hair. I can smell dollars from here. I chuckled inside my head.
"Owe you what?" He raised a brow.
He doesn't even look affected by my touch. By the look of his expression, it seems like he just wants me gone. Tss, of course I have enough experience for this. No man will be sulking once women flaunt their asses on their faces.
"A drink," I said without looking at his eyes. I bit my lip while playing with his tie that's hanging on his neck.
He chuckled lightly. "A drink?"
I nodded while still biting my lips. I stared at his eyes. Those deep brown eyes compliment his thick brows. His nose? Perfect. His lips probably taste bittersweet.
I craned my neck while having this staring competition with him. The music got a bit louder this time, so I leaned to his ears to give him the fish and chips of the mighty Thalia Carolina.
"Cause when I saw you, I dropped mine." I whispered.
I smiled flirtatiously when I proceeded to caress the back of his head. His eyes? Bingo. I kind of saw a hint of desire and amusement in it. I never thought you'd be this easy, Mr. Knight.
Damn, that line is trash. Really Athena? Are you so uninterested in coming up with these cheesy lines?
His smirk went a bit late. I did that. He juggled the liquid in his glass before he placed it on the table. His face is completely out of rest.
"I see that no woman could pacify your broken ass day." I stated.
He breathed heavily without looking at me. The way he stares darkly from afar really does look like he's having a bad day.
"A penny of your thoughts," I said while making tiny circles on his chest using my index finger.
Of course I needed to ask that. Not because I'm concerned or curious about him. I just needed to get some hints from the reviewer. Dang! This is what I got. I should've listened properly to Peter a while ago.
"Who are you?" he asked coldly, instead of answering me.
I smirked. "The one you've been waiting for."
His brows shot up. Ugh! This is taking so long. If this was on a different day I would've continued this chit-chat, but not today. I had a lot in my mind already.
" Nice meeting you too, Mr. Knight." I whispered and kissed his nape, leaving a red mark on his skin.
His jaw moved harshly before I stood up and left him.
Fire, isn't it burning red? I say no orange and yellow. Red is fire seed; red is what keeps us burning. Red is the ember that blows your roof off when something is triggering. That's what I see in these elite tycoons. I see them burning; it's their smoke that I follow.
In him, I see the burning red.
I woke up like it’s just another day. I opened my eyes and somehow everything feels right. I did have a good night’s sleep, I’m so tired that I feel like I’m sound asleep tonight. I turned to the left and hugged my pillow. I have a class today and in the afternoon I have to go to the restaurant for my duty. Oh my, speaking of my duty. I opened my eyes widely thinking about what happened yesterday. I don't even know if I can still do restaurant duty. I was right when I heard what I heard loudly. I turned back to the right to pick up my cellphone but before I could even see my cellphone I heard a deep voice. ”Yes. Furnish it and provide anything that’s needed. ” My eyes widened as I saw him standing and leaning on the sink holding a cup of coffee. His wide chest and bars on his stomach is greeting my hella morning. What the fuck? How could I forget that I had someone with me? One of his hands was busy holding the phone while one of his hands was holding my single white mug, he sipped into while staring at me. I looked at his eyes down to his lips, his neck, his chest and on his packs. I would have continued to look down if he hadn't spoken again. "Alright." He ended the call and casually placed the cellphone on my small desk. My eyes widen as I slowly get up to sit on the bed, I don’t want to talk because my breath might smell terrible knowing that I just woke up! He slowly approached me I thought he was going straight but he picked up the brown paper bag on top of the desk and someone took it from there. It’s a dress shirt, again. Only now did I realize that someone else was wearing his slacks because they were ironed and fixed. Did someone came in here or what? Why did I wake up so late? Oh Lord! "Pack all of your things and you should be done at the end of the day." He said with a tone of finality. "W-what?" I gasped. I look at him tiredly looking like a mess as my gaze follows him. He seems to be in a hurry. ”I found some good place for you. Much convenient, comfortable and… ”he stopped and looked around. "Nice than this." I snapped at what he said. ”What? No! ” Now he wears his neck tie. Before he continue doing that he looked at me in the eye and uttered. "Yes." He turned his back on me and took his belongings. “I’m not leaving this place! I just moved in here! ” I still complained. I can only see his bare back. As I finally got up from my bed and didn't care how upset I looked. He turned his gaze back to me, I saw he was fixing the definitely expensive watch on his wrist. "Just do as I told." He said and picked up the phone and wallet on the desk. I can't be bothered because he seems to be leaving without us even having a good conversation. My heart sunk when I saw that he don’t have any interest of telling me what the hell is happening. I will leave my apartment like for what, seriously? His shoulders went up and down, I think it's because of his heavy breathing. A few more seconds before he looked at my direction now holding his things with his hands. His eyes are serious and my eyes are almost begging him to give me the information that I’m asking. Our conversation last night appeared somewhere in my head. That's when I realized I was talking to someone else last night and I'm talking to someone else today. They are way more different. This guy, is someone that I wouldn’t want to talk to. He’s cold, he’s rude, manipulative and… heartless. "This filthy place won't do good for someone who'll bear my child." he uttered with a cold slashing tone. I pursed my mouth looking at his dull eyes. His use of vocabulary made me want to just shut my mouth. Filthy, yes. ”In order for you to be worthy of me, you need to at least have a good place to stay in. Bear my child in a healthy place, so my grands will be worth it. ” I gulped the pressure in my throat. My eyes watered because of what he said. I feel a dagger being thrust into my chest every word he says. "What?" he asked with a ruthless smirk in his face. I blinked and tried to stop my breathing because anytime I feel like bursting. ”Your ready made coffee even taste like shit. That explains how shitty this place is. ” I gritted my teeth and looked at his cold eyes. Because I want to memorize every part of it. I want to remember every single thing about him, remember how he stoop so low of me and how confident and rude he is. He raised an eyebrow and cocked his head to the other side probably saying what I’m staring at. I averted my gaze and held back the tears that dripped down my face. I swallowed all the resentment and remembered what my position was in the set up we both had. Right, I’m just his surrogate who’ll bear his child and that was it. He walked to my direction, nearer that before. I only looked at his feet because I didn't want to see his bad behavior. But when he touched my chin again, I couldn't help but look at him. This time I’m sure he just saw the pool of tears in my eyes. It seems l
