As the hot liquid burns its way down my throat, large wooden doors slam behind me."Another opportunity slips right from my hand." If I could have gotten Dahlan tech to invest in my family's business I could have dragged myself out of this hole. But of course, showing up to this mixer full of pompous yet profitable investors turned out useless. I was rejected once again and now I sit in a ridiculously tight red dress in the driver's seat of my car, which I can no longer afford. My lips are chapped and It's windy It's the middle of January and the weather is as brutal as it can get.
It just happens to go perfectly with my state of mind. After all the sweet talking I did to Mr Raji about him helping out my father, the bastard turned me down. Dahlan Tech is too prestigious to get involved in a failing business. The thought about my childhood home being taken away from me, wasn't anything I would settle for. After the robbery that took place last month we had nothing left. Everything was gone with just a little period of time. I was devastated thinking about everything I needed to look for a job quickly. It was almost nine, I needed to return the dress to the store. I checked my little red purse, I only had enough for a bus. My legs wobbled badly. I was so weak and hungry the only thing I needed now was to eat and rest. I walked to the bus stop waiting for a bus to pick me up. After waiting for sometime I finally found one. My destination was to my best friend's house, Ella. After a while I got to my destination. Ella was my friend since childhood, we went to the same school since our primary school. Our bond was one many people envied us about. She was my big sister, a girl who always stood by me, and certainly would accept me at any stage of my life. I walked up to the store I got my dress from to return it. "I hope it doesn't smell." The woman over the counter looked at me with such annoyance "and what took you so long?" "I'm sorry ma'am next time I would come earlier." "There is no next time young woman." She said walking out on me. Well that was extremely unnecessary you old hag!! I received a text from Ella. I opened my phone to check it out. 'Hey babe, are you still coming??' 'let me know before I lock my door' 'ya I'm coming.' I increased my pace trying to walk and run to her apartment. I got there and knocked on her door. "Took you so long." she said, opening the door. I chuckled and gave her a hug. "How was it?? Did he agree or you didn't just seduce him well?" "Honestly I think I didn't do both well, Ella, he just walked out leaving me alone in the reception" I separated the hug "I felt terrible." I said walking into the modern apartment. The warm smell of fresh bacon hit me so hard. I could feel my tummy rumble so bad. "I think looking for a job would be the best option honestly." She said locking the door. "You can start tomorrow, just dress smart and walk around with my agent, I'll give him your number." "Before we think about anything concerning business can I have dinner, Ella I'm starving so bad!!" I said, grabbing my tummy so hard. She led me to the small dining area. The fresh scent of roses elegantly filled the room. I felt so filthy I needed to eat and have a good rest. I stared at the Tom Holland painting on the wall. She loved Tom Holland so much. The dimly lit room was just a beautiful scene to behold. After a while Ella brought my dinner, I ate my dinner and had a shower then went to sleep. As the first rays of sunlight peeked through the curtains stirred at me on bed. My eyelids fluttered open with so much annoyance, 'i didn't even sleep well, what's the time it looks so bright.' I looked at the time ' shit!! I'm late, the agent told me to meet him at Angelo's cafe, oh my gosh!!' I rushed out of bed rushing into the bathroom. I just needed to prepare myself in the next 20 minutes. I had a shower and I had to style my hair before wearing my formal dress. I walked out of the door and locked it. I ran out to the bus station and waited till the bus came. "Your late miss Jane" "I'm sorry sir." I said arranging my dress after coming down from the bus." I woke up late, sorry sir." We started our journey, we went to the first company, there wasn't any available job at the moment apart from being a cleaner. "How was I gonna be a cleaner, I would just burn down the whole place.' I laughed at my own thoughts.'shit that was loud.' I held my mouth and looked at Mr Scott. "What's so funny, Miss Jane??" He asked, looking so pissed, "let me know if I should leave??" "No no!!, I was laughing cause I remembered something, I'm sorry." "Better, we would take a bus to another place." He got his sticky notes and ticked something with a pen. I was so tired of all the walking, this was the fourth place today and the job offers were rubbish, one said I can be window cleaner. The pay wasn't even that high. Mr Scott left me already. What was I supposed to do? The only job that paid well was working in a club, I don't even have a dress to put on, neither can I work into a club and say 'excuse me I need a job.' I'll just be asked to be an old man. 'eww!!' I should probably text Mr Scott and tell him about it. It was already noon. I was so tired of walking I needed to rest, I looked around to look for somewhere to sit. I saw a bench and I walked over and sat on it. I could feel the hot breeze rush my face, sweat rolling down my back, it was so hot in New York. I sat down there waiting for a reply. After the club tonight I would go to meet my dad. Ting that was a notification sound from my phone, I opened it up and saw a text from the agent. 'i have a friend, I think you should dress in a little black dress, once you get in there like that just go in there and start serving people.' How was I going to find money to buy a black dress? I was completely broke. I just had 12 dollars, I would find a plain black dress. Why is everything so frustrating!! * * * ............. To be continued..............
"You're mine, little puppy," Kylan growled against my neck. A soft gasp escaped my lips as his lips brushed my skin. My mind screamed at me to push him away-the Lycan Prince who had humiliated me again and again, but my body betrayed me, leaning into him before I could stop myself. He pressed his lips against mine, and his kiss grew more aggressive, more possessive as I felt my legs weaken. What was I doing? In a split-second, I pulled away and slapped him hard across the face. Kylan's eyes darkened, but the smirk on his lips exposed his amusement. "You and I both know we can't fight this, Violet," he said, gripping my wrist. "You're my mate." "And yet you don't want me," I replied. "You told me you were ashamed of me, that l'd never be your queen, that you'd never love me. So please, accept my rejection and let me go." "Never," he whispered, his grip tightening as he pulled me closer. "Soon enough, you'll be begging for me. and when you do-I'll use you as I see fit and then I'll reject you."
