Wounded Heart

"Love is never the excuse to hurt people.

When Elena Kent was pressed down on the bed by the man, she was still wondering what was going on.

This man was her supposed husband. Elena could feel the man's hot and strong body under the dim light; she was not even clear about his appearance.

But the man didn't give her much time to think.

For the past three years they were married, Williams Hunter has only returned twice. Though she was reluctant to give her v-card to him, still this was the man she had loved for eight years.

Although she professed to be a tough girl, she cried when she felt the man inside her body.

She couldn't believe that she had given her first time to her drunk husband, whom she has only met twice since they got married.

'Do you have any idea how much I want you, Anna?'

Elena froze; she couldn't contain her tears. If she was correct, Anna was her best friend whom she tells everything. Anna was closer to Williams due to their differences. When she found out that she had feelings for Williams and confronted her, that was when she got the shock of her life that she had always pretended to be her.

After a long night...

Elena could not recall when she fell asleep. However, when she woke up, the man was still asleep with his face buried in the pillow. She felt embarrassed and angry, so she sat up, got dressed, and left the room quickly. She went to the bathroom, looking at her reflection in the mirror; she felt like a drowned cat.

When Williams woke up, he looked around, saw the stain on the bed, and realized what happened.

Elena finished cleaning up. Just as she was at a loss for what to do, the bathroom door opened; they were both staring at each other through the mirror.

'I will transfer some money to you. Get a contraceptive, because this night never happened.'

That was all he said, went back to the room, dressed up, and left without even taking a glance at her.

Elena sat on the bed and cried until nighttime. She was heartbroken.

Then she went out to buy the drugs. After that, she went back home, kept the drugs in the cabinet, went to prepare dinner for herself.

For three years, she lived alone to the point she preferred it as it was now part of her." Elena grew up with her aged grandmother. Her father abandoned her mother when his mistress gave birth to a son for him.

He brought his mistress home and told her mother that he didn't want his lineage to end. Her mother became devastated; she couldn't bear the pain of the betrayal and became mentally unstable, ending her life.

Her father married his mistress barely three days after the funeral. Her stepmother said she didn't want her around, so her father sent her to live with her aged grandmother, and that was the last she heard of him.

She managed to get a scholarship to the best school in the city. She was a very intelligent student.

That was where she first saw Williams. He was one of the most popular kids in school. Her school life wasn't a good experience as she was treated like rag due to her poor background.

Then Anna became her friend when she helped her with her assignments. They got really close, and that was when she began telling Anna about her feelings for Williams, who encouraged her to talk to him.

She never did; instead, she begged Anna to help her. It was later she realized that Anna also had feelings for him and instead told lies about her just to spoil her name.

Everything she did to make Williams notice her, Anna pretended to be the one who did them. Although she never really understood why Anna did that after all she treated her well and helped her whenever she needed it.

Elena spent the remaining time of the night remembering the past.

After all her reflection she realized that the only time were she was happy truly were not much and that was the time her mother was alive and the time she spent with her grandmother in the village, these were the only moments she was carefree.

Just roaming about in the village going to the ocean and joining the fisherman. She really missed her mom and her grandma who has been in a coma for three years and probably won't wake up for lifetime.

The next day, she prepared for work. She worked as a designer in a publishing firm. Though the pay wasn't much, it was enough to cover her living expenses and her grandma's treatment.

Although she didn't enjoy working there, it was better than nothing and also helped her forget, at least sometimes. When she was done, she got a call from the hospital that her grandma's case had gotten worse.

She should come over. Then she rushed to the hospital. The doctor told her that they needed to do a brain surgery for her grandma, else she won't last up to six months.

The price of the surgery was $18,000, which was more than her yearly earnings. She left the hospital feeling devastated.

She then called the office to tell them that she will be absent from work. She took care of her grandma spent some time with her and went back home after, immediately she slump on a chair and feel asleep.
