I let out a piercing shriek as I witness my Dad being devoured by the ferocious beast. The vicious creature, clad in fur, was on all fours and staring at me with bloodshot eyes. "Run". The words keep ringing in my head but my legs refuse to move from the excruciating pain. I was breathing heavily and covered in blood as I struggled to stand up and run, and with my heart still thumping fiercely in my chest. The ferocious beast materializes out of nowhere and charges at me with incredible speed as I wait for the end. **** In a heart-stopping moment, Ivory Hunter's world shatters twice: first, catching her fiancé in a betrayal with her best friend, and then witnessing her father's brutal demise by a monstrous beast in the very forest he'd warned her against. Blaming herself and reeling from grief, Ivory's life takes an unimaginable turn when she transforms into the very creature she fears. Thrust into a world of supernatural beings she never knew existed, she meets Alpha Rolf, the enigmatic leader of the Knight Moon Pack, who reveals he is her destined mate. Torn between her haunting past and a bewildering future, Ivory stands at a crossroads: can she accept her new identity and the love that promises to heal her broken heart?
"Dad!, Dad". I called out yet again. I sucked in a deep breath and pushed the door wide open, entering the room. I scanned the room to catch a glimpse of his presence.
"Dad, are you in there?" I asked, creeping closer to the bathroom as I heard a rumbling voice, probably the tap running.
The bedroom was dark, and the silky rug muffled at my legs as I took long strides to the sagging curtains at the window, adjusting them.
I widened my eyes, satisfied, as the efficacious brightness illuminates the room, providing a soft glow.
My dad stepped out of the bathroom holding a hand towel, rubbing his hands on it as he threw it inside a waste bin in front of the bathroom.
His countenance hardened noticing me as he leaned by the entrance of the bathroom door.
"I will be going to Aunt Marie's place " I informed him staring at his face for his expression.
"You can go, did you need anything?". He asked not glancing up crossing his hands on his chest
"No, I don't think so". I replied to him with my subtle tone fondling my hands. He didn't give a response as usual again, I stomped my legs and dragging my legs in anger to my room to get ready.
I freshened up moving to my wardrobe to pick out an outfit, I picked a long-sleeved A-Line midi red gown with a black belt and black heels decorated with crystals.
I packed a few clothes in my small suitcase should I sleep at her place since I am just bored at home? I picked up my phone to inform my aunt from my makeup table after applying a little touch on my face to compliment my look.
Carrying my small suitcase and handbag, I hailed a cab to Philadelphia International Airport.
I took a long strides to the checkpoint and an air hostess glanced up, and attended to me.
"When is your flight schedule ma'am?" She asked me with a full-fledged smile, her dimples showing by the side of her cheeks.
"Afternoon, 2:00 PM to be precise". I relayed bringing out my passport and handing it over to her.
"Ma'am, a mail has been sent to you, the flight has been canceled likely there will be a storm in Philadelphia this evening as per the weather forecast". She divulged.
Enraged, I furrowed my brows running my hands through my hair as this had ruined my plan.
"We are sorry for the inconvenience this might have caused you" She muttered with a low tone apologetically.
I dragged my feet carrying my suitcase heaving a long low sigh knowing I would go back to meet my Dad cold yet distant face.
Deciding to call my best friend to sleep over at her place but she wasn't picking up, I stood in front of the airport flaring my nose with my hands constantly rubbing my neck.
I hailed a cab telling the taxi driver my destination, I settled inside the cab staring out the window feeling a knot in my stomach.
The taxi driver dropped me off at her place, taking a long stride to the entrance I knocked but there was no response, I knocked again before deciding to enter, I walked briskly to her room dropping my suitcase in the living room.
I hwld on to my sub-consciousness as the scene unfolding before my eyes seems like a nightmare.
I opened the door slightly. I froze, my brain couldn't process the scene unfolding before my own eyes.
My best friend was on her toes naked gripping the edge of the bed, her face flushed with beaded sweat on her forehead as my fiance was thrusting into her aggressively drowned in their moments of intense pleasure.
I couldn't believe my eyes as I shook my head in disbelief with tears threatening to pour out, I felt the air stilled around me I couldn't breathe, I was gasping for air while holding my chest and gripping my phone hard till it fell making a sound which startled both of them as they raised their head.
"Just fucking release into me, Jace," Clara said with a smirk while casting a dismissive glance at me.
"No, this isn't real". My breath hitched as I took my phone on the ground while rushing out, bumping into Mom by the doorway.
There was terror on her face as she was shaking frivolously staring at me not uttering a word as to what was going on.
"So you knew, Mom" I choked out, the words hanging in my throat. I cried out in disbelief as tears streamed down my cheeks.
She looked at me avoiding eye contact, at least she felt guilty unlike those idiots with their nonchalant attitude as I saw Clara descend the staircase with Jason trailing behind her like a scaredy cat.
Jason was dressed in a brief and singlet while Clara wore a strapless bra showing the hickeys on her neck.
"Did you enjoy the sex scene, my dear friend". Clara said with a smile plastered on her face as she moved to Jason kissing him on the lips while rubbing deep circles on his chest.
"You think you have the whole world at your back, Ivory" She said and scoffed rolling her eyes.
"You're dumb, bet that's why you couldn't see what was beneath your nose ". She scoffed displaying a wide grin on her face.
"Did you really believe Jason loved you?" She questioned, arching her brows and smirking.
My hands were shaking, my stomach churned as bile rose up my throat, and I was silently fighting back the tears that were about to fall.
"My dear, it was just a bet and Jason here needs money for his tuition fees which you don't hesitate to give out". She said smiling and rolling her hazel eyes.
"You are a fool and all the kindness you show by offering to help is just a facade. You always think you are kind, always giving off the classic and intelligent babe in college." Clara added gritting her teeth.
"Are you envious of me?". I questioned scoffing at her petty outburst coming out from who I thought had my back.
"Who is jealous of your miserable, lonely existence?" Jason laughed and put his hands around Clara's waist.
"Everyone around you suffers because of you; your mother died giving birth to you; you are a curse." She continued, drawing nearer to me.
I paused my lips into a thin line and couldn't believe what I heard from whom I thought was my friend. No way I am gonna cry out in front of them, they would be satisfied if I broke down in front of them.
She winced and held her cheeks as I stepped in closer to slap her, raising her other hand in retaliation.
"Don't you dare!!". I held her hands before they could collide with my cheeks as she struggled to free her hands while looking over to Jason.
"That is for putting my life in jeopardy." I balled my fists and kicked Jason in the groin.
"And for you ma, train your daughter so she won't turn into a community whore taking people's leftovers". Clara's Mom's face darkens frowning her face.
"I will make sure you regret ever living, I will make you feel miserable, I will make you forget to breathe, each one of you". I swore as I raised my chin throwing them a threatening look.
I rushed out of the house as the tears poured out streaming down my cheeks. I called a cab rushing inside to let the tears fall freely.
"Where to, miss". The Cab man asked looking at the rear view mirror with a concerned look.
"Just drive". I told him feeling lightheaded looking out at the window, with tears in my eyes.
