Chapter 1 At the party

"You weren't male enough!" Those words hurt a lot. They were like stabs straight through Kurt's heart.

"I should kill you!" He said, almost out of breath. And then he would do something that would hurt himself even more. “I, Kurt Dolph, Alpha of the Shadow Moon Pack, reject you… Alexandra Dolph, as my mate and Luna.”

After that, only darkness.

KURT’s POV

The night couldn't be more boring. All that chatter about subjects that didn't interest me at all was extremely annoying and I just wanted an opportunity to get rid of it. At least the food was good, but the drink could be better. Or stronger.

“I'm going to get some air, Finn,” I said to my Beta, Finley Hawking, patting him on the shoulder, before walking away from the hall. He didn't answer anything, just nodded, indicating that he understood my words.

The double doors leading to the gardens were wide open, allowing a pleasant breeze to enter the room. I walked farther away, in order not to stay close to that werewolf pack. Males wanted to talk about politics or battles; females wanted to flirt; and some were dying to get rid of their beloved daughters and had hopes I would make one of them my future Luna. As if that was ever going to happen.

The counter was empty, for which I thanked Selene. A little peace, and… I stopped to listen better to what I thought was a moan. Yes, it was moaning, but not from pleasure. I knew I was frowning, because according to Finley, that's what I do when I'm concentrating on something or irritable. And I was irritated. I thought about ignoring the sound, but it was impossible, after all, if I was there to get away from others and relax, there was no way that could happen listening to someone whining.

“Oh, but that’s just great!” I cursed, after giving one of the balusters a small kick with my foot and pushing against the marble railing with both hands. I would have to follow that sound that took away my chance of peace at that bland party.

When in human form, our senses are not as sharp, however, they are still far superior to humans and I, being an Alpha, could feel much more than others, both smells and noises.

“P-please…, “ a female voice pleaded. And then, the smell of blood invaded my nostrils. I quickened my pace and there was the scene: a figure curled up on the ground, trying to protect its head with its hands and the torso with its legs, while a werewolf with blond hair kicked it and two others watched.

“What the fuck is this?” I asked and I think it was loud enough, because the three attackers jumped, with wide eyes. While the two onlookers seemed to shake with fear, the blonde seemed to relax a bit.

“Oh, Alpha Kurt” He greeted me, smiling. ”We're teaching this thieving omega a lesson.” He pointed to the creature on the ground, most likely the alleged delinquent. A female, I could finally say.

“A lesson? You were spanking her!” I retorted. “Is this how things are resolved in this pack?”

“She stole, Alpha. And she is nothing more than the daughter of a useless werewolf”. The blonde said and when he took a step forward…

"I think you better get away from her, pup." My voice was menacing. I saw him swallow hard, but he didn't lower his head.

“I'm Gabriel Redley. You can't threaten me like that!”

“Oh, you're Gabriel, the Alpha's nephew,” I said with a smirk. “And I'm an Alpha, boy. Let's see what your uncle thinks of all this. But until then, get away from that female.”

Gabriel, despite looking like he wanted to keep acting with defiance, he knew he couldn't. I only needed to use a little Alpha aura for him to eventually relent. I used the mind-link to communicate with my Beta, asking him to find the Midnight Pack Alpha. There was a situation that needed to be resolved immediately.

‘Yes, Alpha. I'm already looking for him.’ Finley said.

I approached the omega on the floor and she backed away from me as I approached. I couldn't see her face. She kept her head down and her brown hair in a curtain. When she moved a little farther, the light from one of the streetlamps caught her and her hair gleamed. It was reddish. I didn't like females with hair that color and felt immediately repulsed by her.

“What's going on here?” Alpha Idris’s voice made me turn my head away from the omega, which pleased me very much.

“This little wolf was beating up an omega. Him and his two friends over there.”

I said seriously, looking at the blond male, approximately forty years old, a little shorter than me. He glanced at the figure behind me and at his nephew, as well as the boy's two other cronies.

"Gabriel, what the hell?"

“She was stealing, Uncle,” Gabriel said, eyeing me sassily. “I was just teaching her the gravity of her actions.”

"What did she steal?" Idris asked, bringing his hand to his face and pinching the bridge of his nose between his thumb and index finger.

“This.”

I didn't believe it when I saw it. It was a small lump of money.

"She stole money? Your money?” I asked and looked at her. She shook her head, denying it. I looked back at Gabriel.

"She stole from someone! How could she have money?”

"Are you telling me you don't even know who this belongs to? Did you see her stealing?” I snapped, holding myself back from jumping on that brat’s neck.

"Gabriel, how do you know she stole it?" Idris asked. I saw that he wasn't angry with his nephew, he was just bored with having to solve that problem.

“She's an omega. How would she have money?”

"Where did you get that money from?" I crouched down and asked her.

She was shaking, but I could tell from her breathing that she was trying to speak. Gabriel started to try to say something, but I held up my hand, indicating that he should shut up.

“If you don't tell me, I can't help you.”

“I-I… It is mine. My parents…they left it to me.” Her voice sounded sweet, even thought she was clearly shaken.

"If her parents left it to her, then it can't be hers!" Gabriel finally said and I glared at him. He was very cheeky!

“And why is that?” I questioned, using what little patience I had left.

"She is a daughter of traitors! She is an omega, daughter of a worthless one! They lost everything, therefore this money is NOT hers!”

“Gabriel…” Idris started to speak and I looked at him.

“She's coming with me.” I didn't even know what came over me to say something like that.

“I beg your pardon?” Idris asked, astonished. I could see in his eyes that he wasn't expecting this. Nor did I, in fact.

“I am completely against this type of intervention. If you don't want her, I'll take her with me.”

“But…”

"Do you have a problem with that, Alpha Idris?" My pack was the biggest in the country. I'm not the monster everyone thinks I am, but I am a warrior who doesn't forgive in battle. And no one would dare challenge me. The Midnight Pack was no match for Shadow Moon Pack.

“No, I'm not against it. Take her and do as you please.” He finally answered me.

“Uncle!”

“Shut it!” Idris snarled at his nephew and glared at me. "Take that omega with you, Alpha Kurt."
