Chapter 1 Yeong Joon And Ji Hyun
Pagi hari di kota Seoul,terlihat seorang wanita muda yang tengah menyiapkan sarapan. Ia menggoreng telur gulung yang tebal, dan juga menyiapkan beberapa sayuran. Setelahnya, wanita itu pun memindahkan semua hidangan itu ke atas meja.
"Ji Yeong! Ji Hee! Mari makan!" teriak wanita tersebut memanggil kedua adiknya.
"Kak Ji Hyun, hoooaammm, aku masih sangat mengantuk," jawab Ji Hee sambil menguap.
Ji Hyun menggelengkan kepalanya sambil tersenyum,
"Kau ini, kakak yang begadang mengurus Yeon Ju kenapa kau yang mengantuk," ucap Ji Hyun meledek Ji Hee adik perempuannya.
Ji Yeong pun keluar dari kamar dengan seragam kerjanya,
"Itulah kenapa kau tidak dapat pekerjaan kak, kau selalu saja bangun terlambat," ucap Ji Sung meledek kakak keduanya.
"Apa kau bilang? Dasar! Sombong sekali," Ji Hee membalas dengan memukul kepala adiknya.
"Aaaa! Park Ji Hee!" bentak Ji Sung pada kakaknya.
Ji Hee meledek Ji Sung dengan menjulurkan lidahnya. Terlihat Ji Hyun yang tersenyum bahagia melihat kedua adiknya.
"Sudah sudah ayo makan dulu!" ajak Ji Hyun sambil menyuguhkan semangkuk nasi ke hadapan kedua adiknya.
Mereka pun sarapan bersama pagi itu, terlihat ketiga saudara tersebut sangat bahagia.
Mereka sudah lama kehilangan kedua orang tuanya. Ji Hyun merupakan seorang arsitektur di salah satu perusahaan konsultan di Seoul, sedangkan Ji Sung merupakan anggota kepolisian yang bertugas sebagai sipir di penjara Seogu Seoul. Di antara mereka bertiga hanya Ji Hee yang belum memiliki pekerjaan, ia merupakan alumni mahasiswa jurusan komunikasi.
Setelah kepergian kedua orang tuanya, Ji Hyun, Ji Hee dan Ji Sung hidup menggunakan uang asuransi kedua orang tuanya, dan mereka juga mendapatkan kompensasi dari perusahaan tempat sang ayah bekerja. Sedangkan ibu mereka merupakan seorang PNS yang bekerja di bidang pendidikan.
Selain mereka bertiga, Ji Hyun memiliki seorang anak asuh yang ia adopsi dari panti asuhan terdekat. Ia memberi nama pada anak asuhnya dengan nama Yeon Ju. Yeon Ju menggunakan marga milik Ji Hyun yaitu marga Park.

Mereka berempat terlihat hidup dengan bahagia. Setiap pagi ketika akan berangkat ke kantor, Ji Hyun menitipkan sang anak pada jasa penitipan, dan ia akan menjemput Yeon Ju ketika sore tiba.
Namun, kebahagiaan yang Ji Hyun tampakan hanyalah sebuah topeng, saat semua orang tertidur, Ji Hyun menangis tersedu di dalam kamarnya sembari memeluk Yeon Ju. Dalam tangisnya ia selalu menyalahkan dirinya sendiri. Hal ini sering terjadi setelah kepergian mantan pacar Ji Hyun.
2 tahun yang lalu, Ji Hyun memiliki seorang kekasih, lelaki tersebut bernama Yeong Joon. Yeong Joon merupakan anak dari rektor universitas yang menjadi tempat Ji Hyun menempuhi pendidikannya sebagai seorang arsitektur.
Mereka berdua selalu terlihat mesra di manapun mereka berada. Hingga beberapa teman menjuluki keduanya sebagai couple goals yang sesungguhnya.
Yeong Joon begitu populer di universitas, tak hanya karena ia anak dari sang rektor, ia juga selalu memenangkan berbagai kontes desain yang diadakan baik dari kampus luar, maupun pemerintahan.
Semua orang menganggap Yeong Joon memiliki masa depan yang cerah. Tak jauh beda dengan Ji Hyun, ia juga merupakan mahasiswa dengan rekam jejak terbaik di angkatannya. Ji Hyun selalu mendapat nilai terbaik dari teman sekelasnya, terlebih dalam mata kuliah desain perancangan.
Namun, kenyataan berkata lain, dikarenakan Yeong Joon 1 tingkat lebih dahulu dibandingkan Ji Hyun, ia pun lulus dan harus pergi ke luar negeri untuk melanjutkan pendidikannya.
Ji Hyun mengatakan bahwa ia tak bisa berhubungan jarak jauh, sedangkan Yeong Joon tak bisa melawan perintah sang ayah untuk melanjutkan pendidikannya ke luar negeri.
Di akhir perdebatan, mereka pun memutuskan untuk berpisah dan menjalani hidup mereka masing masing. Yeong Joon pun akhirnya pergi meninggalkan Ji Hyun menuju Conel university.

Beberapa bulan berlalu, Ji Hyun kini tinggal terpisah dengan kedua adiknya. Saat itu, Ji Sung baru saja menyelesaikan masa pendidikannya di badan kepolisian kota Seoul. Sedangkan Ji Hee tengah menyelesaikan skripsinya yang memang sedikit terlambat.
Selain memang Ji Hyun ingin fokus dengan karirnya, ia juga ingin menenangkan diri karena ia belum bisa melupakan Yeong Joon.
Di sisi lain, Yeong Joon yang kini berada di USA pun selalu memikirkan Ji Hyun, bahkan ia sering sakit, selain disebabkan karena banyaknya tugas yang harus ia kerjakan, Yeong Joon juga enggan untuk melakukan hal lain seperti makan dan minum, ia hanya fokus untuk mengerjakan tugas tugas kampusnya dan berharap segera lulus dan kembali ke Korea.
Hal itu membuat Yeong Joon sering sakit sakitan, dan mengalami gizi buruk. Namun, Yeong Joon yang sudah bertekad untuk segera pulang ke Korea pun tak memperdulikan kondisinya.
Hingga pada akhirnya, Yeong Joon dinyatakan meninggal dunia di dalam kamarnya dengan memeluk foto Ji Hyun dan juga tugas kampus yang masih berserakan.
Ji Hyun yang mengetahui kabar tersebut pun menangis sejadi-jadinya, ia merasa bersalah pada Yeong Joon, karena keputusannya saat itu membuat Yeong Joon benar-benar pergi meninggalkannya selamanya.

Di hari pemakaman Yeong Joon, Ji Hyun mengenakan pakaian serba hitam. Ia mengenakan dres longgar beserta jaket hitamnya. Ia menangis di depan foto Yeong Joon yang terlihat begitu tampan saat tersenyum.
Saat Ji Hyun selesai melakukan penghormatan terakhir pada Yeong Joon, ia duduk termenung di kursi tamu, tatapannya kosong namun air matanya tak berhenti mengalir.
Ibu Yeong Joon pun mendekatinya, ia menenangkan Ji Hyun dan mengatakan hal yang membuat Ji Hyun semakin merasa bersalah pada Yeong Joon.
"Ji Hyun, aku menemukan beberapa buku diari yang Yeong Joon tulis selama berada di USA, simpanlah buku ini!" ucap ibu Yeong Joon sambil menyodorkan tiga buku diari pada Ji Hyun.
Dengan terisak, Ji Hyun mengambil ketiga buku diari tersebut. Ia memeluk buku itu dengan air mata yang terus membasahi pipinya.
"Ji Hyun, kau tahu kan betapa Yeong Joon sangat mencintaimu? Sebelum berangkat ke USA, ia sempat bertengkar dengan ayahnya. Ia berkata bahwa tak ingin meninggalkan Korea karena tak ingin kau sendiri. Hari itu, mereka berdua bertengkar hebat, namun, keputusan suami ku sudah bulat, dan mengatakan pada Yeong Joon untuk tak pulang sebelum ia lulus dari universitas. Aku rasa, hal itu yang membuatnya terus bekerja keras hingga meregang nyawa. Ji Hyun, sering seringlah mengunjungi makam Yeong Joon nantinya. Aku berharap kau tidak melupakannya." ucap ibu Yeong Joon panjang lebar,
Ji Hyun kembali menangis tersedu-sedu, ibu Yeong Joon pun memeluknya berharap ia bisa lebih tenang.
"Kenapa kau menangis lebih banyak dari ku? Apa kau begitu mencintainya sehingga kau seperti ini?" tanya ibu Yeong Joon.
Namun, Ji Hyun yang kini sedang menangis tanpa henti tak mampu menjawab pertanyaan dari ibu Yeong Joon.
