This was dangerous! The patient was bleeding more and more. The pregnant woman was unconscious and there were bruises around her face, Ameera observed carefully. After the patient was transferred, the nurses and resident doctor rushed to take her for further examination by the gynaecologist.
"How is the patient?" asked Doctor Jhonny, Ameera's senior at the hospital, to one of Ameera's colleagues named Lucyana.
"Lucy!" Ameera elbowed the colleague beside her. Instead of answering, the colleague looked nervous, trembling as Doctor Jhon asked for her analysis.
"I'm ...." Lucy stammered. Doctor Jhon turned to her with a cold, annoyed look. Because his junior was not answering his questions quickly.
"Say it quickly!" urged Doctor Jhon. He was impatient that his junior was silent.
Lucy was still stunned. She was at a loss to answer the question if Doctor Jhon kept cornering her. All eyes were on her. Including Ameera's.
Lucy should have been able to answer the specialist's question. However, whether it was nerves or something else, Lucy's lips suddenly twitched and Doctor Jhon lost his temper.
"Suck it!" sneered Doctor Jhon. "What have you been up to, huh?" he scolded.
"I'm sorry, Doctor Jhon!" regretted Lucy as she hung her head in shame. She really regretted it.
According to the medical team, the pregnant woman was involved in a road traffic accident. She was driving alone while heavily pregnant and suffering from severe depression. After the accident, the patient was immediately rushed to the nearest hospital due to heavy bleeding and the baby she was carrying had to be saved immediately.
Other problems began to emerge after Jhon examined her. It turned out that there was another history experienced by the mother. Ameera had noticed the pregnant woman's physique. She remembered something about the patient.
"AMEERA!" called Doctor Jhon half shouting. "Explain your analysis!"
"It looks like the patient has Placenta Previa," said Ameera somewhat hesitantly.
The pregnant woman was haemorrhaging due to the low position of the placenta. Her gestational age is about 35 weeks. Placenta Previa has a higher risk of causing bleeding before and after birth, premature birth, and detachment of the placenta from the mother's womb. That's how Ameera analysed it. Because not long ago, she observed a patient who was having problems in her womb.
"So, what should we do next when faced with a case like this?" Doctor Jhon asked Ameera again. His senior was testing the general knowledge that Ameera had learnt during her time as a physician's assistant.
"Caesarean section," Ameera opined. She was terrified at the prospect of making a decision.
"Are you sure?" Doctor Jhon confirmed. Even though he knew the answer. He still tested Ameera's knowledge and that of the young doctors crowded into the emergency room.
"I'm sure, Doctor!" Ameera answered steadily and loudly.
'How confident she is,' Jhon said to himself. He had made Ameera break out in a cold sweat. Ameera was terrified that she would make a mistake when she made that emergency decision.
However, Ameera was still afraid. If she made a wrong decision, the consequences could be fatal. The patient's life was at stake.
If anything happened to the patient, Ameera would have to take responsibility for it. It was a difficult choice for her. However, she is required to be able to make decisions quickly and decisively. The more delay, the more the patient's life could be lost.
"Quickly prepare the operating room!" Doctor Jhon ordered the young doctors who had been waiting for his orders.
All the young doctors rushed to prepare the operating room. Including Ameera. Meanwhile, Lucy was still silent. She was the doctor's assistant who received special attention from Jhon.
"You!" Jhon pointed. Lucy turned her head. Her face looked very anxious. Her hands and feet were shaking.
"You'd better learn more. You could kill a patient with your stupidity. Understand?" Jhon advised. However, his words offended and hurt Lucy at that moment.
Lucy clenched her fists. She was angry and very upset because she had been treated badly by her senior.
"Lucy!" called Ameera as she ran towards her. "Let's go to the operating room now!" she called. Lucy smiled briefly.
Lucy is forced to follow Ameera to the operating theatre. There, she hoped to learn more. So that one day Doctor Jhon wouldn't swear at her in front of his colleagues. That, right, was very embarrassing. Lucy was hurt to be treated like an outsider by her senior.
Was it because Lucy wasn't as talented as Doctor Jhon had alluded to? Lucy thought about what Jhon had said the other day. When he gave a medical seminar at her university.
***
"Ameera!" called Jhon after coming out of the operating room.
"Yes, Doctor," Ameera replied as soon as she could.
"Tell your friend to come to my office immediately!" Jhon ordered as he walked away.
"Yes, Doctor Jhon!" Ameera obeyed. She watched as Jhon walked quickly towards his office.
"That arrogant man will definitely scold Lucy again," Ameera thought.
If so, Ameera wouldn't let it go this time. Because her best friend could be his victim again. Poor Lucy. Her best friend could be mentally affected if she was constantly pressured by Jhon.
'Why can't he just give in a little? So senior, so powerful,' Ameera muttered as she walked away.
Ameera went after Jhon to his room. He ran hurriedly for fear of being left behind. Unintentionally, someone followed her from behind. The person saw Ameera entering Doctor Jhon's office. When Ameera looked back, the person immediately hid.
Squeak!
Ameera opened the door and closed it slowly again. She saw Jhon lying on the sofa, exhausted after operating on the bleeding patient.
Jhon didn't quite hear Ameera enter his room. As far as he knew, Lucy had told him to come to his room.
"If you continue like this, you won't be able to become a specialist doctor. Why are you so stupid and don't understand my words?" Jhon was very upset. He was too angry because his junior was lazy to study and lazy to memorise all the material he had been taught.
"I'm... Ameera," Ameera said, twiddling her fingers awkwardly.
Hearing that the junior who was ordered to appear before him was absent from his summons, Jhon became even more angry and took it out on Ameera.
"So, you're going to replace her now?" Jhon looked at her. He noticed Ameera's appearance from head to toe.
Ameera's dishevelled and chaotic appearance made Jhon even more annoyed. Ameera had to distract Jhon. She had to do whatever it took to keep her senior from scolding her.
"Would you like me to make you some coffee?" Ameera asked. "I will make it for you right now. So you can relax for a while."
Ameera tried to smile even though she was forced to. She also explained her purpose for coming to see Jhon in his room. In essence, she wanted to defend Lucy, her best friend.
Ameera is trying to win Jhon's favour to get Lucy off scot-free. That was her initial intention. However, suddenly there was another incident that put Ameera and Jhon in a position that could make others misunderstand if they saw it.
Earlier, Ameera gave Jhon a cup of hot coffee. Suddenly, her foot tripped on the carpet near the table and she accidentally spilled the hot coffee right on Jhon's sensitive area.
"Aaaarrrrrggghhh!" Jhon groaned in pain. The hot coffee spilled on his groin.
Spontaneously, Ameera took a tissue and cleaned the coffee stain on the doctor's trousers. Oh my! She accidentally touched the forbidden area and made Jhon furious.
"What the hell are you, huh?"
