In a world full of doom, she's his only calm. A forbidden story where Anna Floss is given an untimatum; to go rogue or marry Alpha Damon. As a weak and powerless human, Anna was never meant for survival. With dead parents who left her and an intimidating pack, she's all by herself. What happens when she seeks love in hades?
(ANNA'S POV) Trees rustling and a cold breeze against her skin, Anna stared out the open window at 3am. A cup of steaming hot coffee in trembling hands, Anna thinks back to how life used to be. Happy home and two parents who completely adored her; she didn't need anything else. Growing up, Anna always thought about how she was going to someday fall in love, just like her parents did. Those two couldn't keep their hands off each other. That was true love and little Anna wanted it someday. But then, an incident occured that changed her life forever.
She had just come home from the grocery store only to find police cars and tapes surrounding her house. She froze. "Please God tell me it's not what I think it is." She thought. "Hey" a voice said behind her and she snapped back to reality. She turns around and sees a police officer. "You're not allowed in here." The police officer said to her. "What's happening?" "Where's my mum and dad?" Anna screamed at him. "Your parents were incinerated. I'm so sorry." The police officer said to her. Anna couldn't process anything he had just said and ran into the house in search of her parents. Before she could open her parents' covered bodies, someone pulled her. Anna kicked and screamed and cried. Everything she could do to wake her parents up she did but nothing worked. The situation finally dawned on her; her parents were gone and she was going to be alone forever. Weeks had now passed with Anna slowly but painfully coming to terms with the fact her parents were no more. She struggled to eat and only stood up when she had to take a shower. It was so bad that her best friend May, decided to move in with her and help her out. She'd known May since she was a kid. They'd just move in and May lived next door with her parents at the time. They bonded immediately; they'd seen each other and remained best friends ever since. "What was I going to do without May?" Anna thought to herself. She decided to shower and start searching for a job. She was conflicted as she didn't know what to do. Living in Zuba where the werewolves ruled wasn't rosy especially as a vampire. They were treated like outcasts and could only interact with their kind; vampires. She didn't mind though, as long as the people closest to her were safe and free from any drama that'd make them get killed. Anna quietly jumped out of bed, careful not to wake May up who was still asleep, drool threatening to escape from her mouth. She tiptoed to the bathroom and did her morning business which consisted of brushing her teeth and washing her face. When she was done, she took her clothes off and stepped under the hot shower, letting it fall into her skin. When she was done, she wrapped her towel around her and stepped into the bedroom to find Mau already awake and rubbing her eyes. "Hey babes." May said. "Did you get enough sleep?" She asked even though she knew the answer. Anna gave her a small smile and turned to the closet. She knew May had tried for her by just being there and being super supportive especially since the incident. She put on a pair of loose jeans and her favorite sweater; the same one her mother had knitted for her. When she was done, she walked back into the bedroom to find May still in that position. "Don't worry about me May. I'm going to be fine. It just hurts so much still " Anna said while going to sit beside May on the bed. May hugged her and said "I'm always going to be here for you." "Thank you May. Without you, I'd be lost." Anna said and hugged her tight. "Enough of the love it's too much." Anna joked. "I'm going jub hunting today. I just hope I find something good." "I don't doubt you would. Go get 'em girl." May jokes. "Alright love. I'll see you in a few hours ok? And stay out of trouble would you?" Anna said ruffling May's hair. She kissed her cheeks and ran out before May could tear her apart. May always hated when Anna did that to her. Made her feel like a baby even if she was only a year younger than Anna. Anna walked the small city of Zuba thinking of the job she wanted. Just as she was about to cross the road, something caught her eyes. It was a small bookstore around the corner. She silently said a prayer and walked inside the bookstore. Immediately she stepped foot in, she felt peace envelope her. She knew she wanted to be here. She saw an old lady sitting behind a table and walked over to her. "Hello, good day. My name is Anna and I'm actually looking for a job." Anna said politely to the old lady. "Oh dear, you came in at just the right time. I'm actually looking for someone to assist me seeing as I can't take care of the store alone," The old woman said to her. "My husband owned this place before he was killed by the werewolves many years back," The old woman further explained. "I'm sorry about your husband. I also lost my parents some few weeks ago but I really don't want to think about that for now. That's why I need a job. Something to take my mind off things for a while," Anna said to her sadly. "Oh dear I'm so sorry. It gets better with time I promise," the old lady said to her. "Well you got the job. Dust, arrange the books, attend to customers, do anything your young heat pleases," she said. Anna was happy and thanked her. She went further into the library and was awed by how big it was. Books nearly in place on the big shelves, tables and chairs in another section, Anna couldn't wait to get started. She went ahead and picked a book and decided she was going to spend her day reading. She got so lost in the book she didn't realize it was dark outside. She put back the book and went over to the old lady. "I'll resume properly Mrs?" Anna said to her. "Oh dear, call me Helena." The lady smiled at her and handed her a bunch of keys. "Now that you work here, you need your keys." "Thank you Helena. See you tomorrow." Anna waved and walked out of the bookstore. She walked home since it wasn't too far from home and when she reached her house, she saw that the lights were still on which meant May was up. She walked into the house and saw May stirring something in the pot. "Hey, how was your day?" May asked. "Pretty good. Got a job at a small bookstore. Got lost in the book I was reading and didn't know it was late. I'm so hungry," Anna said to her. "Dinner will be ready in 5 minutes. Go change and come back." May said to her. "Love you May," Anna said and rushed into the room. Anna took her clothes off and dumped them in the laundry basket close to her bed then stepped into the shower. Allowing the warm water cascade onto her body, she felt relieved. She turned off the shower and dried her body with a towel. Stepping into her bedroom, she put on a big shirt and some booty shorts and put her hair in a messy bun. Anna went into the living room and saw that May had already served dinner. "Thank you May, you're the best," Anna said. "Whatever. Now go ahead and eat. Make sure you eat enough seeing as you've not had anything in your stomach all day," May replies. "Yes mum." Anna says and rolls her eyes. They both finish dinner in silence. Anna gathers the plates and puts them in the dishwasher and goes to join May in the living room. "Hey I'm going to retire to bed now. Goodnight May," and with a kiss to May's cheek, Anna strolls into the bedroom. Immediately her head makes contact with the pillow, she falls into a deep sleep.
