Aurora's Point Of View
*Bang!* Came the sound from the door as Cassy barged in, startling me and Xenia who was reading a book while lying on my bed. Seeing my best friend's rage-filled face, I could almost immediately guess the cause of her anger.
"Boys are stupid! Boys are stupid! Boys are fucking stupid!"
I held my snicker. Of course, nothing can make Cassy this angry except for men. Cassy threw her bag on her bed, huffing as she snatched away the bottle of water in Xenia's hands.
"Hey!" Xenia snapped, throwing a pillow at Cassy who was gulping down the bottle of water.
"Are you okay?" I asked, not tearing my gaze away from the book in my hands.
"Wow. I'm having a mental breakdown here and the two people I call my best friends pay more attention to a book! A book!" She remarked, dramatically slumping on her bed. Xenia and I exchanged looks before bursting into laughter. This only made Cassy more frustrated. She buried her head in her pillow, cursing at intervals.
We put our books down and strolled to her bed. We sat at each of her sides. "Cassy, what happened?" Xenia asked, patting her back. She lifted her head from the pillow and turned to me.
"Emmanuel is a bitch!" She fired and I nodded, saying, "Everybody knows that. It's no news."
"Right. That was why we advised you against dating him." Xenia added tiredly.
"What did he do?" I inquired, pulling her to sit.
"Picture this as I tell you." She began. "I went to the bastard's house this afternoon after I was done at the salon and when I got there, I found him sniffing cocaine."
The room went dead silent. Xenia's and my eyes were filled with shock. "C.. cocaine?!" I exclaimed in disbelief.
"Jeez, I knew that guy was a dick but I never expected him to be into drugs. What the...he looks normal on the outside." Xenia says, arching her brow in confusion.
"I'm not done." Cassy continued. "I just don't know what will prompt him into that. I confronted him and he just shut me out, telling me it was none of my business and I was tryna tell him that for Pete'ss sake I'm his girlfriend! have every freaking right to know. The motherfucker just turned it into a big deal, started saying shits like I'm nosy, I'm too controlling..like...how does that even make sense?" She groaned in frustration before continuing. "Since when have I been nosy?"
You actually are. I said inwardly but I dare not say it out loud or she will pull my hair out.
"I was just being a concerned girlfriend. Which girl will find her boyfriend sniffing coke and won't question him? Or do something about it? We got into this big heated argument and out of nowhere, the dickhead sent two slaps right across my face! That asshole slapped me twice in a row!!"
"That dirty thing hit you?!" Xenia exclaimed in disbelief and Cassy nodded. The number of angry people increased by two. I can't believe that guy hit her. Has he been hiding his red flag until now? It was three months ago when Cassy came into the dorm, squealing. Saying Emmanuel asked her out. Of course, as her best friend, Xenia and I tried to talk her out of accepting his proposal. The guy cheated on his ex-girlfriend. That should be enough reason for her to say no but you know Cassy. Always going for the bad ones.
"That guy is an animal! So...did your leave him be without doing anything?" I ask and Cassy grinned mischievously.
"Leave him be? Leave the man who slaps me be? Of course not! I repaid him in the worst way possible."
Oh shit! What did she do? Destroy his car? Or...kill him? Should I be preparing to attend a murder trial? Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if that is the case. Cassy can be super crazy when angry.
"Did you kill him?" Xenia asked and I almost laughed. Cassy shook her head. "That would be too easy. I made him impotent."
Wow.
"You...you did what?" Xenia asked and Cassy's grin widened as if she was reminiscing about what she did to the guy.
"Well, thankfully there was a baseball bat nearby so I just got hold of it and wacked his balls with it. I wacked his balls about six times before stopping. That should make him impotent, right?" She says, a sweet innocent smile on her face.
Jeez, this girl scares me sometimes. But it could have been worse so... lucky Emmanuel, I guess.
"I'd be surprised if he isn't."
"Well, it's official ladies! Your girl is officially single again!" She announced loudly, throwing her arms around in celebration but I could see the sadness in her eyes. Xenia turned to me sadly and I sighed. We both wrapped our arms around her and that was all it took for her to break down.
"There there, sugar. That prick doesn't deserve you anyway." I say, patting her head.
"Aurora's right. You deserve better. You were just... unlucky." Xenia says and Cassy chuckled.
"Wow, thanks for your comforting words, Xenia." She remarked sarcastically and we all laughed.
"How about this? Club, tonight?" I felt discomfort in the pit of my stomach as Xenia mentioned the word, "club" Ugh! I don't understand why people go to that place. I'd rather stay home and read books under my cozy blanket than shove myself into the middle of sweaty people reeking of alcohol.
"Xenia, let's not-"
"Yes! I could blow off some steam!" Cassy said before I could protest.
"You two should go alone. I'll stay."
I gulped when they gave me disapproving looks. "you're following us and that's it. You're always inside, not engaging in the outside world! Don't you get bored?" Cassy asks and I raised my brow.
"Why would I be bored? It's comfortable being alone." I shrugged and they slapped their foreheads in disappointment.
"You're coming with. And that's it. It'll be fun, I promise. There'll be music, drinks, not to mention hot and sexy guys. Who knows? You might get laid."
I felt nauseated as Xenia mentioned the "fun" things. I got the most scared when I heard the word, "guys". I'm not good at talking with guys. I end up being so awkward with them. Number one reason I've never had a boyfriend. Who wants to be with a girl that prefers being at home reading and watching movie series?
"I think I'd pass on the 'sexy guys' part." I say scrunching up my nose in discomfort.
"Come on! Aren't you tired of being a virgin?"
I widened my eyes at how loud Cassy was. Doesn't she get embarrassed talking about things like this?
"Th.. there's nothing wrong in being a virgin." I say shyly in a low voice and they snickered, making me more embarrassed.
"You could really use some dicks in your life, baby. Just make an effort tonight, hm? What do you say? Ready to get laid?" Cassy asks, her face filled with excitement. I turned to Xenia who had the same look. I sighed in defeat and nodded. If I say no, I'd still end up going.
"It is settled! Let's go dress up!"
***
"Watch where you're going, asshole!" Cassy cursed at the driver of the car driving past us. I quickly bowed apologetically at the driver to avoid any commotion. I turned to Cassy, "Jeez, Cassy, that man is older than us."
"Who cares?" She parks our car and we stepped out. I kept pulling down my gown as we walked to the entrance of the club. Apparently, my closet is filled with only sweatpants and hoodies so Cassy lent me one of her club wears. How is she comfortable in these? After searching her closet for the most 'decent' club outfit. We settled for a black armless leather mini gown with a low back slit. I never knew black was my color until now. It suits my tan skin perfectly. I wore black knee-length high-heeled boots to finish the look. I looked like a whole different person after she finished my make-up and hair.
Now I know what 'catfish' means.
"You know the code, guys. Party, drink, get drunk, if possible, get laid." Cassy says, winking at me as we entered the club. I rubbed my palms against my dress nervously and we went further. Xenia and Cassy were beginning to shake their bodies to the music and then there's me, feeling so out of place. We took over a table and Cassy ordered drinks. I dreaded the thought of them leaving me alone to go dance with some guy.
Cassy and Xenia had alcoholic drinks while I stuck to non-alcoholic beer. We chatted for a while until the moment I dreaded came. Three guys came to our table and asked us to dance. Cassy and Xenia were eager to dance with them but I was hesitant. The guy asking me to dance looked... scary.
Everyone is scary to you, my subconsciousness said. I respectfully declined the man and he left but not without saying, "You're not even that pretty, bitch."
Tsk. Men.
"Will you be okay?" Cassy asks as she stood up. I nodded, assuring her I would be fine. I can stay with Mike, the bartender. He's a friend of Cassy's. I picked up my drink and strolled to the bar.
"Hey, Aurora." He greeted me with his signature smile which I returned.
"Surprised seeing you here. Let me guess, Cassy dragged you along?"
I nodded, chuckling. "She did."
"Let me make you a drink." He offered and I was about to decline when he says, "don't worry, you'll love it." He winked and I nodded. I watched as he mixed different drinks. I was fascinated. He is already handsome but he looks more handsome bartending.
"Here." He pushes the pink drink in front of me. "I call it, Aurora's smile." He says, winking and I blushed. I gulped before taking a sip of the drink.
"Wow, it's nice. Tastes just like strawberries."
He nodded, smiling proudly. "I'd give you more if you want. Feel free."
I nodded, gulping down the remainder. I ordered one more glass. One more glass turned to two more and before I knew it, I drank up to ten glasses. I began to get tipsy and pressed so I staggered to the bathroom. I almost emptied all the contents of my stomach as I puked. I washed my mouth and on my way out of the bathroom, I collided with a person. I almost fell but I felt a hand around my waist, holding me from falling.
I opened my eyes to see who it was. I was breathless when my eyes met his green ones. They were beautiful like the early morning grass.
"Beautiful." I say, trailing his cheek with my finger.
"Are you okay?" His thick cold voice sent shivers across my body. I felt something in me kick in excitement. He tried to let me go but I held onto him.
"Who knows, you might get laid?" Cassy's words echoed in my head.
"I...I want to get laid." I say innocently, tightening my grip around his neck. He arched his brow, his eyes holding amusement.
"Are you drunk?"
I shook my head. "Just a little tipsy."
"Who did you come with? Let me take you...
I didn't let him finish his statement. I pulled his neck closer and kissed him passionately. Faster than I could blink, he pinned me against the wall, claiming my lips dominantly. He pressed his body against mine, I could feel his bulge against me. He broke the kiss and said against my lips, "I'll give you one more chance, sweetheart." He whispered against my lips, his hand trailing up my thigh, "leave if you're having second thoughts." I whispers huskily in my ear, making me hornier than I already was.
I shook my head and pulled him closer by his shirt. "Just take me out of here."
He leaned back and grinned, "As you wish."
"If you thought you had just escaped hell, then you're wrong. Because you are in hell, Camille. And neither you nor that bastard child will come out alive," he spat, his voice shaking with rage. His words sent a shiver down her spine. "WELCOME TO HELL, CAMILLE!" he shrieked maniacally, as the guards dragged him away. For three years, I documented the slow death of my marriage in a black journal. It was my 100-point divorce plan: for every time my husband, Blake, chose his first love, Ariana, over me, I deducted points. When the score hit zero, I would leave. The final points vanished the night he left me bleeding out from a car crash. I was eight weeks pregnant with the child we had prayed for. In the ER, the nurses frantically called him-the star surgeon of the very hospital I was dying in. "Dr. Santos, we have a Jane Doe, O-negative, bleeding out. She's pregnant, and we're about to lose them both. We need you to authorize an emergency blood transfer." His voice came over the speaker, cold and impatient. "I can't. My priority is Miss Whitfield. Do what you can for the patient, but I can't divert anything right now." He hung up. He condemned his own child to death to ensure his ex-girlfriend had resources on standby after a minor procedure.
For eight years, Cecilia Moore was the perfect Luna, loyal, and unmarked. Until the day she found her Alpha mate with a younger, purebred she-wolf in his bed. She smiles as she hands Xavier the quarterly financials-divorce papers clipped neatly beneath the final page. "You're angry?" he growls. "Angry enough to commit murder," she replies, voice cold as frost. A silent war brews under the roof they once called home. Xavier thinks he still holds the power-but Cecilia has already begun her quiet rebellion. With every cold glance and calculated step, she's preparing to disappear from his world-as the mate he never deserved. And when he finally understands the strength of the heart he broke... It may be far too late to win it back.

Being second best is practically in my DNA. My sister got the love, the attention, the spotlight. And now, even her damn fiancé. Technically, Rhys Granger was my fiancé now-billionaire, devastatingly hot, and a walking Wall Street wet dream. My parents shoved me into the engagement after Catherine disappeared, and honestly? I didn't mind. I'd crushed on Rhys for years. This was my chance, right? My turn to be the chosen one? Wrong. One night, he slapped me. Over a mug. A stupid, chipped, ugly mug my sister gave him years ago. That's when it hit me-he didn't love me. He didn't even see me. I was just a warm-bodied placeholder for the woman he actually wanted. And apparently, I wasn't even worth as much as a glorified coffee cup. So I slapped him right back, dumped his ass, and prepared for disaster-my parents losing their minds, Rhys throwing a billionaire tantrum, his terrifying family plotting my untimely demise. Obviously, I needed alcohol. A lot of alcohol. Enter him. Tall, dangerous, unfairly hot. The kind of man who makes you want to sin just by existing. I'd met him only once before, and that night, he just happened to be at the same bar as my drunk, self-pitying self. So I did the only logical thing: I dragged him into a hotel room and ripped off his clothes. It was reckless. It was stupid. It was completely ill-advised. But it was also: Best. Sex. Of. My. Life. And, as it turned out, the best decision I'd ever made. Because my one-night stand isn't just some random guy. He's richer than Rhys, more powerful than my entire family, and definitely more dangerous than I should be playing with. And now, he's not letting me go.
Aurora woke up to the sterile chill of her king-sized bed in Sterling Thorne's penthouse. Today was the day her husband would finally throw her out like garbage. Sterling walked in, tossed divorce papers at her, and demanded her signature, eager to announce his "eligible bachelor" status to the world. In her past life, the sight of those papers had broken her, leaving her begging for a second chance. Sterling's sneering voice, calling her a "trailer park girl" undeserving of his name, had once cut deeper than any blade. He had always used her humble beginnings to keep her small, to make her grateful for the crumbs of his attention. She had lived a gilded cage, believing she was nothing without him, until her life flatlined in a hospital bed, watching him give a press conference about his "grief." But this time, she felt no sting, no tears. Only a cold, clear understanding of the mediocre man who stood on a pedestal she had painstakingly built with her own genius. Aurora signed the papers, her name a declaration of independence. She grabbed her old, phoenix-stickered laptop, ready to walk out. Sterling Thorne was about to find out exactly how expensive "free" could be.
My wealthy husband, Nathaniel, stormed in, demanding a divorce to be with his "dying" first love, Julia. He expected tears, pleas, even hysteria. Instead, I calmly reached for a pen, ready to sign away our life for a fortune. For two years, I played the devoted wife in our sterile penthouse. That night, Nathaniel shattered the facade, tossing divorce papers. "Julia's back," he stated, "she needs me." He expected me to crumble. But my calm "Okay" shocked him. I coolly demanded his penthouse, shares, and a doubled stipend, letting him believe I was a greedy gold digger. He watched, disgusted, convinced I was a monster. He couldn't fathom my indifference or ruthless demands. He saw avarice, not a carefully constructed facade. His betrayal had awakened something far more dangerous. The second the door closed, the dutiful wife vanished. I retrieved a burner phone and a Glock, ready to expose the elaborate lie he and Julia had built.
