Ember's Point Of View.
The wind was cold to my skin, Brooklyn was nothing like California, and the breeze blew harshly against trees nearby. I could hear the voices of wind in my ears, as it howled every second and flowed through my clothes.
I felt so cold, goosebumps pump out of my skin, even though I was wearing blue jeans and a black long-sleeve, it wasn't helping and if I wasn't struggling enough to walk, it would have blown me off too.
I was quite a light weight.
My red hair flew all over my face, my pointed nose began itching, my flushed face was full of tears streaming down my dark brown eyes, my little dimple cheeks hurt, my white pale skin was full of goosebumps, my feets hurt from the cold, despite the black pointy boots I was putting on, my numb red lips were cold as an ice, I had to give it a little bite to feel my lips.
I was over five feet tall, my cute short feet couldn't even fit in my boots properly, do I care?
No! I was tired, I shouldn't have left the apartment on this cold night, wasn't I putting my life at risk at this rate.
At this point, I don't care anymore, I just want a car to hit me and throw my body into the woods.
There is nowhere else for me to go, my loved ones have left me, my life was really a mistake.
My parents were right, I should never have been born.
Never.
I have no hope for living anymore, everything was falling apart, what had I done to deserve this, why was everyone abandoning me? Was my life so cruel to me because of something I did in the past, whatever I did in the past was in the past, it doesn't have to affect me right now.
Tears dripped down my face as I walked, it was so painful that my heart shattered into pieces, hurting so badly that it almost ripped out of my chest.
My heart aches.
I cried bitterly with a running nose as I fell to the ground on my knees. I managed to get up with my trembling legs, strolling with no destination in mind.
I kept walking nonstop with tears streaming down my cheeks, I was exhausted as it is, sitting down on a bench close to the park. I sobbed so much and prayed for death to come to visit me.
Why was my world falling apart, what had I done to deserve this? Noah broke my trust, after everything we've been through, I thought we were going to have a happy and peaceful life together, I guess it was all just a dream.
A fairytale, I presume.
Who knew he had other plans.
He betrayed me.
I sobbed for God knows how long and then, I felt someone handing me a designer's pink handkerchief, I looked up and a saw handsome dude beside me, he was fucking gorgeous.
Brown hair, amber eyes, pointed nose, pink lips, he had an almond shaped expression, his white skinned, appeared muscular and slim in stature. He also had a tiger tattoo on his arm, wearing a white long sleeve that was folded backwards to both arms. He was wearing a black trouser and folded his legs across each other, sitting on the bench.
If anything, he would have been a celebrity, like those Korean Actors in Tv.
"You can use this to wipe off those tears if you don't mind.' His voice was the most sexist goddamn thing I have ever heard.
Just kill me.
I took it from him. "Thank you," I muttered.
"You are welcome,' he said and kept smoking his cigarette. "Go on, act like I'm not here."
He was quite a gentle dude.
I took the handkerchief and wiped off my tears, the more it came out, the more I cleaned them off and my eyes burned with them.
I sneezed so hard, wiping my nose properly as I stared at the handkerchief and my hands.
"It's cold, isn't it?' He calmly asked.
I raised my head up, my gaze falling on him. "Yeah, it's really cold.' I agreed.
He smoked so heavily, lolling his head and staring up at the sky. I stretched out my hand at him.
He looked at me. "Want a cigarette?'
"Yeah, I want one.'
He barely even knows me.
He took a packet and a lighter from his pocket and handed it over to me. I took one from inside it and lit it, I began smoking too.
It's been so long since I smoked, I thought I was going to throw away this habit, it seems like I picked it up again.
"You know how to smoke.' He chuckled, it was more like a question than a statement.
"Huh, why do you chuckle,' I frowned.
"You look cute.' He confessed.
"Huh, thanks.' I replied.
"Care to share.' He threw the one he was smoking and lit up another one, he smelled so nice.
I looked at his every move. "Share what?"
"What's bothering you,' he said. "You seem downcast.'
"Oh,' I muttered and looked down at my handkerchief and without a second thought, I blurted out.
"Have you ever been cheated on?' I dread the moment I asked, I should have just kept my mouth shut, my hands were sweating, despite the cold.
"Everyone gets cheated on at some point.' He answered.
That doesn't answer my question. "Really.'
"Huh, huh.' He shrugged his shoulders, staring at the trees.
"Why do men cheat?' I tightly shut my eyes, clutching my hands. "They say they love you, but behind your back, they do the opposite.'
"Men are animals,' he spoke. 'You know it's harder for a man to control his body than his heart, have discipline and self-control, also based on decisions at times. If he doesn't have those, forget it. At times, it's because of unmet needs, unhappiness, dissatisfaction with the relationship, boredom and sometimes, they just have no reason. They just want to explore, go on adventures, have fun, fuck with different women, that's all, I think. That's why I said, 'it's a decision and nothing else.'
"I did everything to please mine.' My voice broke. "I loved him so much, I did everything to make us work, who knew it would all be in vain.'
He was...silent.
Why the hell was I speaking with a total stranger?

"Lucien, let's get a divorce," I said in a peremptory tone that was long overdue, the most decisive farewell to this absurd marriage. We had been married for exactly three years-three years that, for me, were filled with nothing but endless loneliness and torment. For three years, the husband who should have stood by my side through every storm, Lucien Sullivan, had completely disappeared from my life as if he had never existed. He vanished without a trace, leaving me alone to endure this empty, desolate marriage. Today, I finally received his message: "I'm back. Come pick me up at the airport." When I read his words, my heart leapt with joy, and I raced to the airport, thinking that he finally understood my love and was coming back to me. Even if these wounds will remain with me for the rest of my life, I refuse to have anything to do with him ever again. He should know that it was his own hand that trampled our love underfoot, that his coldness and betrayal created this irreparable situation. But when he heard those words, he desperately clung to this broken, crumbling marriage, unwilling to let it end-almost as though doing so could rewind time and return everything to how it used to be. "Aurora, come back. I regret everything!" Regret? Those simple words stirred no emotion in me-only endless sadness and fury. My heart let out a frantic, desperate scream: It's too late for any of this!
