She slept in a narrow storage room beside the kitchen where sacks of grain and broken tools were kept. The room had no window and barely enough space for the thin blanket she called a bed. When winter came, the cold crawled through the stone floor and wrapped around her bones like ice.
But she had learned not to complain.
Complaining only made things worse.
The moment the door burst open that morning, a deep voice echoed through the kitchen.
"Omega. Get up."
Seraphina pushed herself off the floor immediately.
Her body ached from the long day before. Her hands were raw from scrubbing the pack house floors and washing clothes soaked with blood from the warriors' training. Even lifting the heavy water buckets had become painful.
Still, she lowered her head and stepped out of the storage room.
Three warriors stood in the doorway, their large forms blocking the weak grey light outside. Their wolves were strong, their bodies powerful. Compared to them Seraphina looked fragile and small.
One of them tossed a bundle of dirty clothes onto the floor in front of her.
"Wash these before breakfast," he ordered.
Another warrior glanced around the kitchen and frowned at the clean tables.
"You missed a spot yesterday," he said coldly. "Do it again."
Seraphina nodded quietly.
"Yes."
Her voice was soft, almost swallowed by the silence.
The men were already leaving when the third warrior suddenly paused. His gaze slid toward her and a cruel smile formed on his face.
"You know tonight is the coming of age ceremony," he said.
Seraphina did not answer.
The ceremony happened once every year when wolves who had reached adulthood gathered before the pack to celebrate their strength and the possibility of finding their destined mate.
For most wolves it was the most important night of their lives.
For Seraphina it was only another reminder of what she was not.
The warrior laughed softly.
"Imagine an omega like you finding a mate," he mocked. "That would be a tragedy for the poor man."
The other warriors laughed as they stepped outside.
The door slammed shut behind them.
Silence filled the kitchen again.
Seraphina remained standing in the middle of the room for a moment before bending down to pick up the clothes. The smell of sweat and blood clung to the fabric.
She carried the bundle toward the washing basin.
Her reflection appeared faintly in the water.
Dark hair fell loosely around her shoulders, tangled and uneven because she rarely had time to care for it. Her grey eyes looked tired and distant.
Sometimes when she stared at her reflection long enough, a strange feeling stirred deep inside her chest.
A restless sensation.
Like something inside her was trying to wake.
But the moment always passed quickly.
Seraphina dipped the clothes into the water and began scrubbing.
She had lived in the Crescent Moon pack for as long as she could remember. The elders once told her she had been found alone near the forest border when she was a child.
No parents.
No family.
No history.
The pack had taken her in, but they had never treated her like one of their own.
She was an omega.
The lowest rank in the hierarchy.
An omega's purpose was simple.
Serve.
Obey.
Endure.
Seraphina finished washing the clothes as the sun finally began rising above the trees.
The pack house slowly filled with voices and footsteps as wolves prepared for the day.
She moved quietly through the halls carrying water buckets and cleaning cloths. No one paid attention to her except when they wanted something.
By midday the entire pack buzzed with excitement.
Tonight was the coming of age ceremony.
Decorations hung around the central clearing and long tables were being prepared for the feast. Warriors laughed loudly while young wolves whispered nervously about the possibility of meeting their mates.
Seraphina kept her head lowered as she passed through the clearing with a basket of herbs.
She almost made it to the healer's house when a familiar voice stopped her.
"Well look who decided to show her face."
Seraphina froze.
Lyra stepped into her path.
Even under the bright afternoon sunlight Lyra looked flawless. Her golden hair flowed down her back like liquid light and her blue eyes sparkled with confidence.
Everyone in the pack knew who she was.
The future Luna.
She was the Alpha's daughter and the strongest female wolf in the territory.
Lyra's gaze slowly traveled over Seraphina's worn clothes.
"You look worse than usual," she said lightly. "Did you sleep in the dirt again?"
A few wolves nearby laughed.
Seraphina lowered her head.
"I was just bringing herbs to the healer."
Lyra crossed her arms.
"That is strange."
Her voice turned cold.
"Because the healer came to me this morning looking for missing herbs."
Seraphina blinked in confusion.
"Missing herbs?"
Lyra stepped closer.
"The sacred moon herbs," she said slowly. "The ones used during the ceremony tonight."
Murmurs spread through the clearing.
Seraphina felt a chill crawl down her spine.
"I did not take them," she said quietly.
Lyra tilted her head.
"Then how did they end up in your basket?"
Before Seraphina could react, Lyra reached forward and pulled the cloth covering the basket aside.
Inside, wrapped between the ordinary plants, lay a bundle of glowing silver herbs.
Gasps filled the clearing.
Seraphina stared at the basket in shock.
She had never seen those herbs before.
"I did not put those there," she whispered.
Lyra laughed softly.
"Of course you did."
The Alpha of the pack stepped forward from the crowd. His presence immediately silenced everyone.
His eyes were hard as he looked at Seraphina.
"Stealing sacred herbs is a serious offense."
Seraphina's heart pounded.
"I swear I did not steal anything."
But no one listened.
The Alpha raised his hand.
"Kneel."
The word echoed through the clearing like a command carved in stone.
Seraphina slowly lowered herself onto the ground.
Dust clung to her knees.
Around her the pack watched with cold curiosity.
The Alpha's voice carried through the silence.
"You will be punished before the ceremony tonight."
A warrior stepped forward holding a whip.
Seraphina closed her eyes.
She had endured punishment before.
But today something felt different.
A strange pressure filled the air.
Then suddenly the pack gates opened.
A powerful scent swept through the clearing like a storm.
Every wolf froze.
Royal wolves entered the territory.
Four enormous black vehicles rolled into the clearing surrounded by elite warriors wearing the crest of the royal werewolf clans.
A tall man stepped out of the first vehicle.
The moment his boots touched the ground the atmosphere changed completely.
His presence was overwhelming.
Power radiated from him like heat from fire.
King Kael.
The ruler of all werewolf clans.
The Alpha of Alphas.
The entire pack immediately bowed their heads in respect.
Seraphina remained kneeling on the ground.
Her heart suddenly began beating faster.
A strange warmth spread through her chest.
King Kael walked forward slowly while the Alpha of the pack hurried to greet him.
"It is an honor to welcome you, my king," the Alpha said nervously.
Kael barely looked at him.
His attention had locked onto something else.
Something unexpected.
The small omega kneeling in the dirt.
The moment his eyes met hers, his wolf exploded inside his mind.
Mate.
The word roared through his senses like thunder.
The scent reached him at the same moment.
Sweet.
Wild.
Dangerous.
Completely irresistible.
Kael stopped walking.
The entire clearing fell silent.
Seraphina felt the strange warmth inside her chest grow stronger. Her breathing became uneven as a sudden wave of energy rushed through her body.
Something deep inside her responded to the king's presence.
Her wolf stirred violently.
But it was not the only thing awakening.
For a brief second another scent spread through the air.
Not just wolf.
Something darker.
Something ancient.
A faint trace of witch magic.
And beneath it, a cold immortal note that did not belong to any wolf.
Vampire.
The elders stiffened in shock.
Kael's eyes darkened.
The omega kneeling before him should not carry such a scent.
It was impossible.
Seraphina suddenly gasped as pain shot through her veins. Her vision blurred and her nails dug into the dirt.
She did not understand what was happening.
Inside her body, three ancient bloodlines stirred.
Wolf.
Witch.
Vampire.
Kael took one step closer.
His wolf demanded he claim her immediately.
But something about the strange scent surrounding her sent a dangerous warning through his instincts.
This girl was not just his mate.
She was something the world had not seen in centuries.
Something powerful.
Something unpredictable.
Kael slowly straightened and turned away.
"Release her," he ordered calmly.
The Alpha hesitated.
"But my king she stole sacred herbs."
Kael's golden eyes flashed with authority.
"I said release her."
The warriors stepped back immediately.
Seraphina lifted her head in confusion as the pressure of punishment disappeared.
Kael looked at her one last time.
His voice dropped low.
"You will not be harmed."
Then he turned and walked away.
But inside his mind his wolf was still roaring one word again and again.
Mate.
And somewhere deep inside Seraphina, the ancient power sleeping in her blood began to wake.
