The Expose of Thomas Greene
Small-town journalist Austin James receives an assignment from the chief editor of The Rebel to investigate a local crime deal at a warehouse gone wrong. She visits the scene only to discover that she was the first one there. The warehouse was dilapidated, with its cascading roof and a big gaping hole where an entrance was supposed to be. As she enters, the floors chip away at her every step. The rubble and ash left behind foretell signs of an explosion. 'What happened here?' She thought to herself as she made her way further into the warehouse. In the dark corner, near a shipping container, she spots a shoe. 'Damn it! It's a dead body. They might haul me up to the station for interrogation. Wait- Did it just move?' She carefully approached the other end of the container and saw a man hunched over a crate. The man's suit was ripped from the shoulder with dried bloodstains on the collar. Her breath grew unsteady, 'He might still be alive. Only one way to find out for sure.' She extended her hand. As she was about to check for a pulse, the man flinched. "Ah!" She screamed in terror. As she stepped back in panic, the loose flooring caught her foot and she fell. Her vision grew foggy as her head hit one of the beams that had fallen from the roof. Before she passed out, she took a glimpse at the man. He sat upright, his dark hair disheveled with soot on his cheeks. But what struck her the most was his intense brown eyes that looked as if the soil and sand collided in the warm summer sunlight. She then awakes inside a vehicle and sees the same man in the driver's seat.
