"Why should I visit the Powell family? It's not worth seeing anyone there."
Madeline glared at Jorge as she recalled what had happened years ago.
When her ailing mother was on the sickbed, no one from the Powell family had bothered to visit her and offer their support.
"Stop living in the past. It happened a long time ago. Why are you still holding grudges against us? After all, the Powell family is your family too. You should visit us often.
Your aunt still misses you. She said she would cook your favorite food when you visited."
Jorge pretended to be sweet and kind in front of Madeline.
His behavior disgusted Madeline. He was a cunning, hypocritical man. The way he spoke implied that everything was Madeline's fault.
Julius, however, could tell whether Jorge was telling the truth or not.
Seeing the pain in her eyes, he understood that Madeline shared a complicated relationship with the Powell family.
