The little boy lowered his head, looking desperate.
Madeline grinned and stood up to comfort him. "Don't worry. I can..." But before she could finish the sentence, Julius interrupted her.
"Butler, take the little guy upstairs."
"Yes, sir."
The butler nodded earnestly, picked up the little boy, and carried him upstairs.
Madeline looked up and watched the butler leave with the little boy. She walked forward to follow them, but Julius extended his hand, halting her in place.
"Wow! You're really capable."
Julius looked at Madeline, a faint smile tugging at the corners of his lips.
After a moment's pause, Madeline looked away and sat on the sofa. "I don't understand what you mean," she mumbled.
