Brandi only had one place to go. She had only one person she wanted to share this with. Zach was the only one who could understand this victory. He would also be the only person concerned about her as she hadn’t let anyone else in on the secret she was keeping.
When the elevator doors opened, Zach was standing there. He had on pants, but his shirt was unbuttoned and he wore no shoes. The bandage on his side was coated in red.
“Zach.”
“Brandi. What happened? Where did you go?”
Brandi took his arm and led him to the master bath. “What did you do? I hope you didn’t open the stitches. Sit.”
“Never mind that. Why did you leave?” he asked, his eyes wild.
“I had to go see my father?”
“What? What were you thinking?”
“It’s okay, Zach. I’m here.” I tugged on his arm. “Put this up so I can get to your wound.”
He did, but his interrogation wasn’t over. “Tell me, Brandi.”
She sighed. “Okay.”
