Zach woke knowing something was wrong. The feeling nagged at him as he readied for work and followed him to the office. He wanted to trust that Brandi could take care of herself and that her father wouldn’t do anything stupid, but he wasn’t so sure. The man was in a desperate situation and if he had any idea that his daughter had turned away from him he’d be in even worse straits.
Zach stared at his computer. Kendra came in several times to look at him. She finally sat down. “What gives?”
He glanced at her then shrugged.
“You miss her already,” Kendra said.
He did, but not just for the reasons that Kendra thought.
“You want to talk about it?”
“No, thanks. I’d rather not rehash a very public breakup.”
“You are the talk of social media right now.”
Zach rubbed his eyes. He didn’t care who was gossiping. He just wanted to know where Brandi was. They agreed on radio silence for a day, but he was going to break that because of this feeling in his gut.
