With tension building up in the room, Sarah Cecilia's step mother walked in after overhearing the conversation from the bedroom.
'I don't think it is a bad idea' she said, adding more tension to the room
'Cecilia is old enough and I don't think she has a boyfriend or even a fiancé and not to mention he is a billionaire, other ladies would die for this opportunity' She added in a firm voice
Tears rolling down Cecilia's face as she knew her stepmother was saying all these to get rid of her from the house. She had never cared about her or her feelings and has always made her feel like an outcast in her father's house after her mother's death.
'I would sell my house a hundred times before I give my daughter out to Him, I want her to marry someone who would love and cherish her not to some man who would not care about her feelings and make her feel lonely' he said angrily as he stormed out into his room banging the door behind him as he carried his briefcase along with him.
Sarah was starring aggressively at her with disgust and anger and how her father had always loved her even when she tried so hard to poison his mind against her. He had always prioritized her and cared for her deeply.
'It would be selfish for you if you don't accept the billionaire's terms, your father has always worked hard for us and now when he needs someone to be there for him, you are running from it' she said in an angry tone before leaving the room.
She could see that she didn't mean well and how she wanted her away from the house but couldn't help but think about what she said. He had always been there for her in his little way; this is a way of repaying him back for all he had done.
Cecilia started crying as she remembered how her mother used to tell her to always sacrifice her happiness for the people she loves. She had always planned to marry someone who she had loved from first sight, someone who would understand her and made her feel safe but all that would come to an end soon.
'I know what to do' she said in an affirmative manner leaving the room to enter her bedroom.
She had thought about it and everything her mother always said came echoing into her mind,
'I must sacrifice my happiness for dad' She whispered as she lay on her bed lost in thought and eventually slept off.
The next morning, she decided to tell her father about agreeing to the marriage and marrying the billionaire. She reassured him of her choices and made it known that she was willing to do that for her father. He cried after hearing what his daughter had to say and they both hugged each other tightly and consoling each other.
She had decided to meet the billionaire herself, she concluded that he shouldn't be as bad as people claimed him to be. She was sure that behind those walls he built around himself, there should at least be a soft heart.
She entered into the law firm in a blue floral blouse and fitted pant trouser as she let down her blonde hair with her heart racing with anxiety.
'Good morning, ma'am, I'm here to see Mr. Aaron Gosling' she said as she approached the receptionist at the counter.
'Do you have an appointment with him?' she asked
Instantly regretting her actions, she remembered she had not made an appointment to see him,
'He is a billionaire and a CEO and he would definitely have tight schedules and meetings' she thought to herself.
No ma'am, but please can you just put a call across to him and tell him Cecilia Matthews is here to see him' she said hoping the receptionist would catch her puppy eyes.
Okay ma, she responded with a smile 'but you will have to sit down while I put a call across to him'.
'Sure! Thank you so much', she said as she made her way to the bench placed beside the receptionist desk. She admired the structure of the building as she has never seen anything like it before and she kept thinking of how her future husband would look like or if she would even experience love at first sight as she had always imagined.
Minutes after the door of the elevator opened and a young man dressed in black with black shades came out.
Miss Cecilia? He said with a stern look and a perfect figure suited to be a bodyguard or an assistant.
Yes, that's me She responded curiously
Is this my future husband? she wondered
'I am David, Mr. Aaron's assistant, he has asked me to accompany you to the company's private lounge' he said swiftly
'I am here to see him, is he not in? I can come back later' she said sounding almost irritated.
'He is, but he is currently in a meeting and has asked you to wait' He responded as he took her to the lounge and ordered a waiter to serve her.
She followed him to the company's lounge and started thinking if coming was a bad idea in the first place and she should have given him a notice through dad.
He had planned to see her on the wedding day but she wanted to see who her future husband is and how he looked like hoping she could at least get to know him better.
She was served some iced americano coffee with sandwich and made comfortable but she was anxious as feelings of uncertainty started settling in.
Hours went by and yet no sign of Mr. Aaron, she was getting frustrated and irritable but she was determined to meet him before the wedding.
Suddenly the door leading to the lounge was opened and a tall handsome man with big muscles that were so obvious even in his suit walked in, his presence alone was authoritative.
'This must be him' she whispered walking towards him.
'Hello Mr. Gosling, I'm Cecilia Matthews and I'm sorry for coming here unannounced, I was hoping we could have a chat before the wed.......' she stopped as Aaron raised his hands requesting for his assistant in a cold manner.
'Kindly book a ride for miss Cecilia and prepare my ride for the conference in Madison square garden' he said in a sharp and authoritative tone.
She was shocked and immediately got irritated with her expression changing so quickly as she tries so hard to comport herself.
'I've heard a lot about you and I thought for a second maybe he isn't like that but you just proved me wrong, anyway do not be late for the wedding, it starts by 2pm tomorrow and bring a ring if it so pleases you my lord' she said sarcastically.
She was about to walk away from his presence when he suddenly stopped her in her tracks by holding her wrist in a tight yet soft grip sending cold yet satisfying chill down her body with her cheeks getting red.
'My lord? oh you are quite the jester' he said with a devilish smirk on his face as he faced her.
'Let me get something straight to you Cecilia, I am only doing this to help your father because he is a valuable asset to my firm. I do not care about your feelings or how you think of me, I do not love, and I would advise you not to fall in love with me because you are going to end up breaking your heart. I only suggested to marry you because you are the only thing valuable to your father and I am a man of value' he said tightening the grip he had over her wrist and starring intensely into her eyes.
She was lost in his eyes but could not help but think that his eyes were saying the opposite thing, his eyes were cold but behind it lies someone yearning to feel something, someone scared and alone.
'Let go of my hand' she said softly swinging her hands out of his grip. She walked away from his presence picking her bag up and heading straight to the door.
'I suggest you follow what I say, I have rules and I will give them to you immediately after our wedding' he added stopping her in her tracks.
Tears rolled down her eyes has her dream of falling in love with a guy at first sight was nothing but a fairytale, he was cold, mean and nonchalant about her. She quickly wiped away her tears so as not to come off as weak to him as her back was turned from him and her facing the door.
'Your ride is here ma'am' David said after entering the room. He accompanied her to the lobby and made sure she entered the cab heading straight home. He had secretly written down the taxi's plate number as instructed by Aaron.
Aaron kept thinking about how Cecilia stood up for herself and was sincere about how she felt about him, no one had dared look him in his face like that nor even dared say an opinion.
I will make you submit to my will he whispered.
