Miss Whyte, if you are unable to secure a contract before the end of this week I'm afraid we would have to demote you" he said, staring straight ahead unblinkingly.

That was Cornor Braille, the managing director of Love and Money - the contract company Theresa worked with.

"You have been with us for the past four years and you have only signed a contract once. This particular contract, you were unable to conclude and cost the company a lot of money with the refund. Did you say you had a bad feeling about it?" he asked,his hands swinging into the air quoting his last statement with false mockery.

Theresa stared unflinchingly, she had nothing to say. This was not the first time he was going to talk to her like that and it probably wouldn't be the last.

Why would he talk about demoting her when all she craved was being fired. She was tired already, the past 4 years had been the worst for her but she really didn't have a choice. She had bills to pay, things to take care of and she hoped to live at least, as an average American.

The only opportunity she had was this and she took it, she really didn't bother with the rules and regulations because she thought since it was from Sophie then it could not be bad. Only if she had known...

" You have never generated a single income to this organisation, all you do is incur debts and give excuses" he continued his lashing, breaking into her thoughts.

"Now look at you acting all dumb, if it wasn't that we do not employ those with disabilities I would have assumed you were deaf too. Because all the words spoken to you in the past four years seems to have been falling on deaf ears "

"Please get out of my office and shut the door. Who knows, you just might be the janitor before the end of the week." He said, chuckling lightly.

That was all Theresa needed to hear as she immediately shuffled her feets and got out of his Godforsaken office.

She had disliked him from the very beginning and with everyday that passed, the dislike grew. How can one have a boss that behaves so inhuman and uncouth, she mused to herself with a shake of her head.

"Well, well... who do we have here? If not the high and mighty Theresa Whyte, who went from grass to grace and would most definitely soon be back on the grass. I had known all along that the grass was where you belonged." Alexa laughed hysterically as she said this.

Theresa turned to look at her.

Calm down, she's only trying to get on your nerves, Theresa told herself, clenching and unclenching her fists.

"Oh, yea. I forgot you cannot speak, that's probably one of the major traits of people in your family " Alexa snickered, taunting her even more.

At the mention of her family, Theresa charged at her with a clenched fist. If there was anything she disliked, it was people dragging her family into whatever business they had with her.

She got within arms length of Alexa and screwing up her face, she repeatedly punched Alexa on the nose not caring about the strict No Fight Policy in the workplace.

"Miss Whyte, what the hell?!

That was Cornor Braille again, the ruckus had started just outside his office and he rushed out to meet a fiery looking Theresa and a whimpering Alexa who had been screaming hysterically like an animal being preyed upon.

"You are suspended till further notice" he said to her as he grabbed Alexa and walked out of the passage.

"Suspended? I thought we agreed that you would keep your head above water and stay out of trouble till you are able to leave the job" Sophie whined as she eased her car out of the parking lot.

Sophie Marceau, Theresa's best friend and most trusted ally.

"She pushed me beyond my limits Soph, there was no holding back. How dare she mention my family?"

"I know how you take family Tessa but the fact still remains that punching her repeatedly on her nose was excessive and an unwarranted behaviour"

Theresa positioned herself better as she sat, resting hear head on the head-rest and just listened on. She was not willing to have this conversation with Sophie.

"You could have just reported her or something, you went too far by taking the law into your hands."

Looking her over, Theresa did not reply. She turned up the volume of the radio in the car and droned on the music. She really was not having that conversation, did Sophie know what her family meant to her?

She could never understand, never.

"Tony and I are hanging out later, care to join?"

"Just drop me off at home" Theresa replied as she rolled her eyes. She had disliked Tony since the first day she met him. Wait did I say disliked? Hate please, that is the right word to use.

What does Sophie even see in him because I am definitely not seeing it, she wondered. She packed her things as Sophie pulled up in front of her apartment, it was quite a small house.

Her first salary from the contract company was used in securing the apartment, it was the best she could get with the money she had.

The time was past 4 already, "bye Sweet, try to have a goodnight" Sophie said as she zoomed off.

"Of course, I would have a goodnight"

Theresa eased herself into the house, inhaling deeply as she loved the scents that greeted her. She sighed as she realized she was finally in her safe haven. She had not been home in three days yet it seemed like nothing had changed.

Finally, she could go bulk wide. She dropped her baggage and went ahead for a shower. Her phone buzzed as she dropped the bag.

Who could it be? Theresa brought out the android from her bag, she had hoped to change it as soon as possible.
