*EMILY*
"Bye Emily" my colleague said as she left leaving me alone in the laboratory.
"Take care" I replied.
"I have to finish this up, today's work should be for today as tomorrow is a new day" I encouraged myself, fully knowing that I'm tired and wish to go home.
(Phone Rings) i picked up my phone and it was Ethan, my boyfriend, I answered it.
"Hey babe" I said to him
"Hi baby, are you free. I have something urgent to tell you" he said with a strict tone.
"Uhh,I'm kinda in a bit of something. How about in 30 minutes" I asked.
" it's urgent and can't be postponed" he said
I felt a lot of command in his tone, but didn't think much of it since he has always been like that.
I hurriedly cleared the lad as I left for the address. I took a cab and in no time I was standing before a huge and grand hotel, a top notch.
I headed in as I located his table
"Hi babe" I said wearing a wide smile
"Hey, have a seat" he said
"What would you like to have" he added
"Uhm....a steak would be great" I replied.
Ethan called for a waiter and placed an order.
"So what's the urgent case you talked about" I asked curiously and worriedly
" don't be in a hurry, we shall talk over the meal" he replied giving me a warm smile.
"You should have told me beforehand so I can dress properly" I said in a sad tone.
"You don't have to worry about others opinion, focus on me alone" he said to me
I was already blushing to the extent my cheeks were all red making it obvious that I'm madly in love with him
"Sorry...I would like to use the restroom" said as I stood up heading to the restroom.
Standing against the mirror in the restroom looking directly at it. I could see an elegant young lady even though she wasn't dressed properly for a date.
"Stop thinking negatively Emily, you man loves you the way you are and no one can say otherwise" I said to myself.
After using the restroom, I attempted leaving when I hit my hand against a basin which made me loose grip on my bag.
Just then my bad fell hard on the floor and opened letting out my stuffs. I bent down to pack them back into the bag when I noticed something unusual.
A sample of my new chemical which is yet to be tested. "How is this in my bag" I asked myself.
Then a memory flashed back to me. The chemical was meant to be given to my superior for testing and authentication in order to acknowledge my product.
I probably dropped it in my bag and forgot it there in a hurry to meet Ethan.
I packed them back and left for the my seat at the table.
"I'm back" I said as I sat down
"Welcome" he said
"Here you go ma'am" the waiter came immediately I returned.
"Thank" I said as I dug in.
"Aren't you gonna have anything" I asked him
"No, I'm fine" he said with a strange expression on his face.
"So let's go into the matter of the day" I said while slicing through my steak with the cutleries
"Emily" Ethan said in a cold voice.
"Yeah, Ethan speak. You've been acting strange lately" I said worriedly.
"Let's end it here, Emily" Ethan broke the silence
I trembled upon hearing those words come out from Ethan, a person who I have future plan to spend the rest of my life with.
"I don't get that, could you please recap..........you mean end the meal or what?" I said without trembling or crying like other ladies would do.
"I'm sorry Emily" he said
"Drop the apology, why are you apologizing" I spoke angrily.
"I'm in love with another" he released those heavy words into the air
I was so not myself that you didn't know when i inserted my hands into my bag, bringing out the little vacuum containing the sample of my new chemical.
I used my thumb to flip the cover open and dashed my hands forward to his face letting the content settle on his slim, pale face.
"Ahh" Ethan exclaimed as he used his hands to cover his face.
I boldly stood and left him there in pain
"You can't do that with me, I'm not other girls" I said as I left the hotel leaving all speechless.
I was so downcast and devastated that I went to a store to get some drinks and chicken.
I got home
"Hi Emily" my younger brother greeted me.
I glanced at him with a sad face, didn't say anything and just continued heading to my room upstairs.
"What's wrong with her" I could hear Mason whisper to himself.
I entered my room, took out the alcohol and decided to find solace in it.
"I'm in love with another" those words kept ringing inside my head.
I drank myself to stupor and slept off.
"Uhh" I muttered as I woke up with a sharp pain on my head. At that moment, my head was throbbing, making it impossible to see clearly what was before me.
As I tried opening my eyes, a bright light from my partially opened window penetrated through my eye lids making my eyesight obscure.
"You're awake?" I heard a familiar voice said to me
"Yeah" I said as I tried standing up
"Just relax, here is a tonic to help you with the hangover" the voice said to me.
I collected it and drank, trying to relax my head as my sight became clearer. The person talking to me was my mom.
I must have drank a lot last night which made me not to recognize my mom's voice. "It must have had a lot of effect on me" I mumbled to myself.
"Thanks mom" I said to her
"You're really of no use" my mom nagged as she hit me hard on my back.
"Ah, mom that's painful" I complained
"Yeah, it should. That's for making us all worried last night, you drank until you were almost lifeless".
"Are you trying to sought solace in drinking, if that's the case then I advice you to quit; it's of no use" my mom said to me
"Alright mom, enough of the nagging. My head hurts" I said to terminate the conversation.
"Alright, get dressed and get downstairs for breakfast" she said as she left my room slamming the door behind her.
"Alright"
