Eternal Mourning: The Alpha's Unydying Love

"I'm not doing this again with you mother", Landon yelled at his mom. "How many times will I tell you I won't take Lyca as a bride?"

Looking so sad at her son's condition she reached for his hand and said softly, do you know how much your sadness makes me worry? It's been over twenty years, when are you going to get over her?"

Landon lamented with a heavy heart as he moved away from his mother with teary eyes, "I wished she was here mom, it feels just like yesterday, saying strongly I never meant for her to die speaking with pain and regrets. She should be here with me right now, I wish I could just take a look at her right now and not just at her picture, I long for her like our past alphas long for power, she is my strength! I honestly can't take it again mom." Still feeling helpless and crestfallen, Landon continued his lamentation, "I wish there was something I could have done differently, I wish I could go back in time, she will always be in my heart till eternity."

Evelyn, still feeling sorry for her son, replied tactlessly, "the pack shouldn't see you teared up like this my son, I know you love her, but you have to move on", speaking with affected care, "Juliet had been a good luna all through her life, everyone knows that, however, here comes a better luna", smiling and looking up at him, she said, " it's time to show them you are over Juliet's death, even her parents have moved on. The pack must not see their mighty, fearless alpha, still mourning his late luna, twenty years later, how absurd will that be? This is why I told you to marry Lyca, she is just as good, beautiful, intelligent and charming as your beloved Juliet who loves you dearly, she'll be a good luna and indeed a better daughter-in-law".

"Besides, having her father on our side makes you more powerful, fearful and respected in the whole of moon blue and its neighbouring towns. We both know power and influence are important for any strong alpha. It's high time you considered Lyca, her presence makes our family stronger, we'll make the strongest ally- a fearless Alpha and an influential Luna. I want Juliet dead in your heart, move on and lead our pack to greatness". Landon heaved a sigh of relief and Juliet and Lyca's topic ended for the day.

"We are done here mom", he said and was about moving out when his mom called out again. "Mom!" Landon exclaimed, feeling tired and exhausted.

"I heard one of the neighbouring towns has trespassed again and since you are not in your right frame of mind, nothing has been done. Our spies speculated about it being an intentional plot from the Everest pack, you know they have been wanting to broaden their horizon", Evenly quickly ruled out.

"Mom I have heard all you have to say, the minister of war will see to it, no one frowns at his intransigence", speaking softly but confidently, Landon made a move to his bed, his eyes itchy, red and heavy, indeed he is feeling dizzy. Landon has known his mum to be a talkie, unlike him, who was a man of few words. He always tries all possibilities to avoid long conversations with her but today was just one of his unlucky days.

As she was leaving her son's room, Evenly was stumbled upon by Quinn, Landon's brother who was also the beta of the pack. "The king is sleeping", Evenly was quick to point out.

"Sleeping?, my alpha does not sleep, does he? Ha ha ha, first time I'll be hearing my alpha sleep, may he have a wonderful dream in his sleep", Quinn said sarcastically and bowed.

"Silly boy, when will you ever be serious? You take all things for a joke, why can't you just be like your brother" she said as Quinn briskfully and cheerfully walked to his room.

"Oh my brother, the fearless, strongest alpha I've ever seen, being weighed down by a late luna, twenty years after her death, whinging over her day and night, what a love?", Quinn said jokingly and smiled softly into his room, meaning no offence.

"Mtcheeew, it's all a joke to him", hissed their mother as she entered her room too.

As soon as Quinn saw that his mother had entered her room, he quickly sneaked out and headed for his brother's room. Without knocking he barged in carelessly, smiling at his brother from afar.

The Alpha, still half awake, opened his eyes only to see his beloved brother's face glaring at him. "Holy shit, this silly boy" he said as he rose up to sit.

"Oh brother, mother said you'll be marrying Lyca, the daughter of the most influential man in moon blue", he announced. Looking in his direction Landon gave him a burning gaze but Quinn doesn't give a damn, he has got used to his brother's scary face and learned how to look directly into it, his work is almost accomplished by pissing off his brother.

Still smiling, he continued, "Lyca will be a good Luna for you, a perfect match indeed. She's gentle, soft, intelligent and beautiful. Most of the leaders' sons are into her already, which means you have to grab her while the time is right brother". He said this without expecting a reply, he already knew he wouldn't be getting one.

He rose up to leave the room realising that his brother is not in the mood, he suddenly remembered something, he turned back and said to his brother, "lest I forget, she asked me if you will be in today and I said yes", finally drawing the attention of Landon closer to him.

Landon growled, "you said what!" Smiling and admiring his talent, he ran out of the room knowing he had stepped into his brother's danger zone. He couldn't stand his brother's gaze, no one could and he definitely can't fight him off, not without his brother strangling him. Landon was strong, fierce and fearless no doubt, he was the bravest in the pack even before his emergence as the alpha.

"I got him, I got him hard, ha ha", Quinn thought to himself on his way to his room he derived joy teasing his family because if he does not, who dares?, chuckling on the way out.

"I need more leather dad, " Lyca grumbled all about the house screaming her head off. She looked up to the entrance of the door, only to see the Alpha's messenger at her sight, she moved closely to him looking overjoyous. Being the only child has made her a spoiled brat over the years, she gets all she wants with just a snap of her finger, she even has people kill chickens when she wants to eat.

"The alpha invited you to dinner, asked me to escort you to the palace", the messenger said.

"Oh wow! Am I good to go like this, daddy?" Lyca asked her dad, feeling excitefully restless and anxious.

Lyca's father smiled as he looked at how grown his beautiful daughter has become, he told her how ready she is to get married to the Alpha. He was bent serious on making that become a reality and most importantly satisfying his beloved daughter's desires.

Lyca smiled shyly, "thank you dad I'm going to make you proud. I will give birth to many alphas and one day our bloodline will dominate all the packs".

Her father shook his head proudly at his daughter. He saw the potential and he knew she was perfect for the job. "Don't worry my love, soon, you will be the envy of all the twelve packs". He kissed her on the forehead and said, "right now I will get you all the leathers you need, my princess has to start learning to live like a Luna".

"I love you dad", she said and hugged her dad. "And is that all Lyca?" he called her name with fatherly love, she nodded with a bright smile.

A few hours later, Lyca was in her best attire ready to go to the palace. She checked herself out after the maids had dressed her, she affirmed how pretty she was and fumbled within herself. "Only a goddess can be as beautiful as I am, I'm indeed a goddess", she left with the messenger happily.

"It's a week to the meat feast", said Tiana, a personal maid to the alpha's mother.

"I know that, don't you think I keep track of time more than you do?" she frowned.

In a calm voice, Tiana lifted her head and said, "you asked me to remind you ma'am".

"Oh yeah, did I?" asked rhetorically, the Alpha's mom looked away. "Where is the water I asked for? I asked about that about twenty minutes ago, what about that?" Tiana stood up like a lightning flash and went to get the water

Lyca walked in the palace doors with elegance, meeting the maid on her way to the Alpha's mom door.

"I'm sorry, let me get the door ma'am", Tiana said, being polite.

Harshly, Lyca held her hand and brought it close to hers, making the tray of water fall off. "Mother, I don't know why these maids don't do their jobs well", she said smiling.

Immediately the Alpha mother got angry and rose to her feet to hit Tiana. Lyca kept smiling, this time, silently, feeling satisfied.

The queen mother moved back to her seat and adjusted her clothes, putting a smile on her face to impress Lyca. Lyca returned the smile and hugged her tightly telling her how much she missed her from the last time she came to the palace.

"Why haven't you come to visit me, my daughter?" the Alpha's mother said, patting her at the back.

With remorse, Lyca replied and said, "that's my father's fault, he always want me to put on the best dress, so getting new leathers was hectic and I can't come here looking nothing less than the princess I am, that's not right mother, I have to look good for my Alpha", she said smiling childishly at her fingers.

"That's right my daughter, you should always look your best".

"Thank you mother," she said, hugging her one more time.

"You came for Landon, but I will advise against it because he is in a bad mood now", Evenly said, her facial expression suddenly changed to a sad mood.

"Mother, don't worry, I will cheer him up, that's my job", she said confidently. "I'm here, he would always talk to me".

Evenly, knowing that may not be the case just nodded as she left the room in a good mood.

"Ms Lyca", called out Quinn. "You are going to see my brother, I should warn you beforehand that you should be careful. My brother may appear ridiculous and scary".

Lyca showed no interest, she smiled knowing he doesn't really care about her but how his brother deeply felt.

"He just had an episode with mother, I'm not sure he will be in the mood to talk to you", he said to her.

Lyca moved closer to him, facing him and looking seductively into his eyes, she said, "I know that already, so tell me, why are you really here". She said this without expecting a reply.

Quinn watched in disbelief as she headed towards the entrance of Landon's door, the posture of an archaeologist who suddenly had a gut feeling that something precious was hidden in the very ground on which he stood.

After checking herself one more time in the mirror beside the alpha's door, Lyca adjusted her clothes properly", she placed her hand on Landon's door and barged in.

Landon scoffed immediately when she came in as the smell of her perfume filled the entire room. "Who told her to come in, Raymond ?, he asked in a strict, low but firm voice.

Raymond panicked, he thought the alpha always wanted the minister of war's daughter in, any time. "I'm sorry sir", that was the only thing he could remember at the time, everyone feared the mighty alpha. Respectfully, Raymond faced Lyca... "Ms Lyca, you can't be here, " the Alpha's guard said, trying to escort her out.

Lyca did not budge, she remained standing like she wasn't the topic of the conversation. "On whose orders?", she said authoritatively, leaving the guard in a state of confusion.

She walked past the guard, leaving him in his confused state and approached Landon, elegantly. She spoke in a calm voice, "My Landon, do you really want me out?" The expression on her face immediately changed to that of a reprieved little baby, holding her breath deep. ...knowing fully he couldn't do that as Landon kept mute, made her take a bold step closer to him, she sat across from him, like a host, fully ready to interview his guest.

"Landon", she brought her hand closer to ruffle his legs, "I know you will not want me out", she said seductively. At the moment, among the birds, her voice will probably have the sweetest melody.

"You can leave Raymond", the Alpha said and then faced Lyca. "Now tell me what you are here for", his voice echoed in a pretended dismissal voice.

Lyca sensed the tone in his voice but that won't make her go away. "I have experienced worse than Landon", she thought to herself, a flash of anger showed on her face at first, but she got over it in seconds as she put up a smile."I just want to be around you Landon, why don't you wanna see me around?".

She stood up from the chair and moved to the bed where Landon was sitting, exposing her thighs and seductively looking directly into his blue-green eyes as the oceans looked straight to the sky. She scanned his face for any reaction but she found none.

Contrary to Lyca's expectation, as Landon looked back and saw her thighs wide open, his eye colour became red, with his face filled with anger. "What the hell are you trying to do?" his voice echoed as he moved closer, held her by her neck and made her feel his strong presence. ...surrounded by a strong aura, Lyca gasped for air.

Though panicked, Lyca found her way to take off his clothes and moved closer. She was afraid but summoned courage to touch his chest, she made a mistake, she could feel it, Landon cannot be seduced.

Landon grabbed her hands before it moved further, "you don't touch me I said", he dragged her up now closer to the wall standing few centimetres away, he chuckled with the intention to scare her away since he has never been this close to her, he held her hard against the wall.

Lyca gasped several times for breath, his aura was strong and unwelcoming. She immediately knew she was going to get hurt by him and wondered what made her try to seduce him, ...scared to death she mustered up courage, "are you not tired of being alone? She tried to ease herself off the pressure and she was successful to an extent. Landon could not discern her next move but he knew she wouldn't try anything because he just scared her.

A lot went on in her head, she thought to herself, "I didn't even have to seduce him long today before I got this reaction. I bet he feels really moved today, I guess the clothes worked magic", a lot of thought going on in her head, she even thought of how their home will be if they finally get married, she smiled and gathered more courage to open her eyes.

Landon bent his head closer and lower to her neck, almost placing a kiss on her neck, she held her breath.

"Just go ahead", she said in a muffled voice.

On hearing the voice, he went wild and tightened the hold on her neck. He kept pressing hard and hard and hard on her neck until she began to choke on her words...
