EVELYN POV
"I don't think this marriage can't work anymore. Let us cut ties"
Damon caught my attention with his words.
My eyes lit up and I stared into his eyes. They told me everything that I need to know; he is serious about it.
"The pack doctor says my womb has miraculously been opened and we will be having a child very soon" I replied, hoping he will change his mind.
"The same story for several years Evelyn. I am tired of walking around the pack mansion without a child."
Tears dropped down my eyes.
Despite all my effort to get a child, I am constantly reminded about my predicament. Now my infertility seems to have cost me my marriage
"The council members are on my neck. Everyday they keep asking about my child. I am fed up Evelyn" He said, turning around to leave the room.
"Damon!" I called, my voice shaky as more tears fell out of my eyes. "Please, just give me one more chance to make it up to you. I can feel the baby bump, we are going to have a child." My plea was desperate.
"We have tried everything possible Evelyn. It is not working. I cannot stand on your words again." He said with no show of emotion in his eyes.
As the door slammed on my face, I dropped to the ground and felt my world crashing before my eyes.
Getting married to Damon had ignited a spark of hope in my life, after several years of waiting. It felt like my dreams of marrying a stable individual had been actualized.
Till the pack doctor revealed that it will be tough for me to give birth to a child.
According to the pack doctor, it appears that my womb has been sealed and no medical skill could be used to open it up.
Where do I go from here?
It is obvious that Damon is going to get himself a second wife to give him a child.
The mere thought of another woman with him broke me down.
I summoned the strength within me and got up to my feet.
It is obvious there is no going back to Damon. His reaction showed that there is no amount of plea that I give which will change everything.
Later that night, I picked up my things and used the exit out of the pack mansion.
Returning back to my foster parents seem to be the only chance I get to stay in a place.
When I arrived at my foster parents house, I could sense the toxic energy in the air as they all sat down glaring at me.
"You should be ashamed of yourself Evelyn" My father expressed. "How can you not give the Alpha a heir? I cannot believe you became an embarrassment"
"If only you had listened to us before your marriage to Damon" My foster mother said "Who knows if you will be in this present situation"
I sat there absorbing each and every harsh sentence they threw at me, till I got fed up and rose to my feet.
"I don't deserve any of these insults! I am pregnant and my baby bump is here to prove that I am pregnant" I said, grabbing my belly.
"And you expect us to believe that?"
"You can choose to believe anything. It is obvious I am not welcome here" I grabbed my luggage and walked towards the door and paused.
Turning around to look at them, I had tears in my eyes "I came here seeking for support. I guess I cannot find it anyways" I finished my sentence and left the house.
I arrived at the pack boarder in the middle of the night and with one last sad look at Silverfang Pack, I walked out of the territory with my fate hanging in the air.
Walking through the thick forest, my breathing became slow and my throat dry up. I need water to survive in these place.
My journey through the forest seems not to end. My knees weak and my arms are heavy. I looked up to the sky hoping the moon goddess will seem me through.
I tripped over a branch and fell to the floor without any strength to get up again.
If this is the way I die then so be it.
Just before my eyes will close, my ears picked up the sound of growling and above my head a shadow towered over me.
"She is so weak"
I hear his deep voice speak before passing out.
*
The morning ray of the sun hit my face and I turned to the other side of the bed groaning in frustration.
After a few second, my eyes flew open and realized that I was in a whole new environment. I sat upright on my bed, taking in the marbled floor and the huge king size bed that I laid upon.
Where am I?
Just then the door opens and my breath is taken away by the presence of a man entering the room.
Time seemed to pause as he approached my bed.
His ash blond hair rested well on his head and his deep blue eyes pierced mine.
As he stood towering over me, my nose picked up a fresh smell of summer berry scent coming out from him.
"Are you done drooling?"
My thoughts are broken away by the sound of his voice.
"Sorry" I replied, my cheeks becoming shades of pink color.
"Where am I?" I asked.
"You could have been dead last night" He revealed. "We brought you back to my pack and chose to treat you with the help of the pack seer"
Silence came over the both of us. I was trying to recollect my thoughts over everything that happened yesterday.
"How is your baby doing?" He asked.
"How did you know I am pregnant?" I asked, touching my stomach.
"First because I am an Alpha and secondly the pack doctor confirmed it" He replied confidently. "So what happened to you last night"
I closed my eyes and take a huge breath ready to spill out my story to him.
