Kimberly Gilbert! Do you realize how late you are?" My aunt Judy's voice woke me up from my deep slumber.
"Five more minutes." I muttered with a sleepy voice.
"Your interview Kim! You're going to miss your interview now get up and get to it!" My aunt yelled.
My eyes flew open in a second after I processed what she had said.
Interview.
"Oh my god! Aunt Judy!!! Why didn't you wake me up sooner! Am going to be late to the interview!" I scrambled out of my small sized bed and ran into the bathroom.
Judging from the start of today, today's definitely not going to be my day.
~KIMBERLY'S POV👠💄
Today's definitely not going to be a good day. First I wake up late, now I can't find my freaking wallet!
"Jessica, Jamie, did you guys happen to see my wallet lying around anywhere? I've looked everywhere for it." I said to my younger siblings who were churning on their cereal for breakfast.
"Have you checked on the couch. You were sitting there yesterday." Jamie said to me.
I rushed to the couch and thankfully saw my wallet laying comfortably there.
"Okay. I'm all set now. Documents and files check, Corporate outfit check, wallet check. Am I missing something?" I said actually wondering if I forgot to mention something.
"No you're not. Now go before they ask you to leave for coming so late. Interview by 9am and this is 7:15am and You know the company is a long journey from here and it'll take you almost hours to get there." My aunt Judy lectured.
"I know I know. You're right. Bless me family. We need this Job." I said lastly and aunt Judy and my siblings all patted my head for luck.
"Bye guys." I said to them and waved before closing the door behind me.
I took a few steps before picking up a race.
I need to get to the bus station as fast as I can so I'll join the 7am bus going to town.
Luckily I was a fast runner. I did some track field back in high school and they even called me zoom because of how fast I always ran.
After a few minutes of running, I caught up with the bus right on time before it moved.
I paid with my credit card and took a seat by the window.
I needed the extra air to dry up all the heat that was trickling down my forehead.
After what seemed like forever, we finally arrived into the main city.
I got down from the bus and stood by the bus stop to wave down a taxi that would take me to the company.
Luckily for me, it didn't take much time before I got a taxi.
I kept reviewing my own files and documents to check again if everything was intact and thankfully they were.
When the taxi got to the company gate, I had to get down from there and proceed by foot since I didn't come with an authorized car.
I told the security my purpose of coming to the company and underwent some security procedures including filling out forms and taking a snapshot of my face and thorough inspection for any weapons.
Now that is some tight security.
After successfully passing the security check, I made my way into the company building.
My eyes kept wandering around the whole building. It was gigantic, and so beautiful. I've never seen anything as beautiful as this before.
If the outside could be this beautiful, what more the inside.
My eyes suddenly landed on my wristwatch and I was shocked by the time.
It was 9:45am.
Oh no. I'm late for the interview. I ran inside the building and my breath was completely taken away once more.
I'm in heaven. This has to be it.
I looked up to the roof and was deeply immersed in the beauty of this place.
My eyes turned to every corner, admiring with wide eyes and open mouth.
A smile spread across my face.
The beauty of this place was making me feel emotional.
I kept looking up, from one end to the other, very slowly for the last time before continuing my journey but that's when I noticed someone watching me.
I locked eyes with a very handsome Man who was standing all the way at the top, looking right at me.
His gaze steady and unmoving and quite intimidating.
I broke eye contact with him just to look around me, perhaps maybe he was staring at something behind or besides me. But everyone surrounding me were all in a haste to get somewhere.
I looked up at him again and he was still staring right at me.
He suddenly raised an eyebrow and I raised mine too.
Who is he? An employee here?
After some minutes of staring at each other, I decided it was time to move on.
I made my way to the elevator and pushed the button. I gave the strange handsome guy one last look before getting into the elevator.
~~~
I made my way to the office where the interview was to be held.
And boy was there a lot of people here.
I was looking around like a lost puppy, then decided to ask the secretary at the reception if this was the place where the interview was being held.
She looked me up and down in a condescending way before adjusting her glasses.
"Yes. This is the venue. And what is your purpose here if I may ask?" She asked me.
"I'm here for the Interview." I said to her and smiled Brightly.
She scoffed.
"You're late. We aren't meant to receive anymore participants." She said to me.
Oh no no no.
"What? No please. I'm so sorry about my tardiness. It is all my fault and I take full responsibility. But I'm pleading with you, please help me get in. Please!!!" I said to her and showed her my poutiest face.
"I'm sorry but I can't help you. Good day." She said sternly and focused back on her computer.
Are you kidding? My pouty face always worked for me in getting out of trouble.
What am I going to do now?
I'm very sure this lady would never give in to my pleas.
I sat down at the far end of the chairs arranged in rows for the people doing the interview.
I kept thinking about how my life is always one big mess.
How am I supposed to tell my aunt that I missed the interview just because of my foolishness.
This was a once in a lifetime opportunity my aunt secured for me through a good friend of a friend of hers. And now I've wasted it.
I sat there staring at the others going in for their own interview and leaving one after the other until there was only one person left.
"Hey. Aren't you also here for the interview? Why are you sitting so far away?" The last lady asked me.
"I came a little late. I don't think they'll allow me do the interview anymore." I said sadly to her.
"Ohh. That's too bad. I'm sorry." She said sympathetically to me and I smiled slightly at her because zoning out again.
The girl was called in lastly and her interview didn't waste alot of time before she was out.
She came out with a Man in a very expensive looking suit. He must be the interviewer.
She then pointed towards me and I was suddenly alert.
Are they talking about me?
The man in suit motioned for me to come forward and my eyes widened.
Yes!
I ran towards them without wasting any second.
"I believe you're the last one remaining?" He asked me and I nodded.
"Yes Sir." I said to him.
"Okay come in." He said to me and nodded at the secretary.
"Thank you sir." I was feeling ecstatic.
We both sat down at the office chairs that was aligned beside a large table.
"Hand in your files please." He requested and I gave him everything in my file.
"Hmm. Interesting. So Miss Kimberly, why should we grant you this Job?" He asked me.
"I believe you should grant me this Job because it is my dream Job. I've always wanted to work in a big company like this ever since I was a child. I know I will be very diligent, enthusiastic, Work oriented, fulfilled and definitely take this Job very very seriously because it's all I've ever wanted." I said to him honestly.
"Okay." He said and wrote something down in my document.
"How will you manage the distance? From the address you have here, it won't be very convenient for you." He asked me.
"The distance won't be a barrier to me. Most important thing is how precious this Job is to me. That alone is motivation enough to get me up by 3am if I have to, just to be here on time." I say and smiled.
"Okay." He looked through my files once more.
"That'll be all. Thank you." He said to me.
"We're done already? Ohh. Okay. Thank you for giving me this opportunity sir. Even if I don't get the Job, just simply being here, in this whole building, is more than enough for me. It means I'm getting closer to my dreams. So thank you." I said to him and stood up to leave the office.
I let out a heavy breath once I was out.
What was that speech about?
Stupid Kim.
I waved the secretary goodbye before leaving even though she completely ignored me. Again.
I got into the elevator and made my way out.
I kept admiring the environment until I was out of the gate.
I walked a distance before I could see a taxi that would take me back to the bus stop.
Once I got into the taxi, I let out another heavy breath.
Can't wait to get home.
And I guess we'll see how it goes on from today.
On the day she chose to peruse the club, she noticed three men, all dressed in suits, standing on the upper level, near the railing. Despite her limited vision, she persisted in fixating on them. Their towering statues belied the toned bodies concealed by their sharply tailored suits-or so she could tell. The hair of two of them was short and dark, and the third had light brown-possibly blond-hair that reached the shoulders. The dark, crimson background incised their figures, exuding an air of mystery and strength. They stood in stark contrast to the unfiltered, primal energy that pulsed through the club.
