I was shopping at the mall with my best friend when we unexpectedly ran into my husband holding the hand of a pregnant woman. The pregnant woman had one hand linked with my husband and the other hand resting on her belly as they walked into a mother and baby store. My friend looked at me in surprise and asked, "I'm not seeing things, right? Isn't that your husband who was supposed to be on a business trip in Luokou?" Yes, just yesterday, Zhang Jianye told me that the company sent him to Luokou for a three-day business trip and that he couldn't celebrate our wedding anniversary with me. He even gave me my anniversary gift in advance. I dialed that familiar number, "Honey, what's up? I'm in a meeting right now," Zhang Jianye replied quietly, covering his mouth while standing at the store entrance. If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, I might have really believed him. "Oh, it's nothing, you can continue with your work." After hanging up, Zhang Jianye immediately changed his expression and happily continued shopping with that woman.

Chapter 1

I worked hard to support our family, but my husband cheated on me and fooled around with women and men.

1.

While shopping with my close friend, I unexpectedly saw my husband holding hands with a pregnant woman.

She held my husband's hand with one hand and covered her belly with the other as they walked into a store for maternity items.

My friend looked at me in shock and asked, "Am I seeing things? Isn't that your husband who's supposed to be on a business trip in Leterroch?"

Yes. Yesterday, Colin told me that his company was sending him to Leterroch for a three-day business trip, and he couldn't celebrate our wedding anniversary with me.

He even gave me the anniversary gift in advance.

I dialed his familiar number.

"Hey, honey, what's up? I'm in a meeting right now," Colin whispered into the phone, covering his mouth as he stood at the store entrance.

If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, I might have believed him. "Oh, nothing. You go ahead and focus on your work."

After hanging up, Colin immediately changed his expression, accompanying the woman with all smiles as they continued shopping.

Colin and I were college classmates, though I was senior to him.

We met at a party, and then he pursued me passionately.

Our family background shared some similarities, which made us understand each other better.

Soon, we were together.

He treated me well, getting up early to buy my favorite breakfast and delivering it to my dorm.

He took on several part-time jobs just to buy me birthday gifts.

Like all couples deep in love, we attended classes together, worked part-time together, and planned our future together.

But I would never forget the night of Colin's birthday.

I had messaged him earlier to get the location of his party.

But I pretended I had a late part-time job and would join him afterward.

In reality, I was secretly preparing a surprise for him.

But I didn't expect him to give me an upsetting shock.

I excitedly carried a cake to the restaurant where the party was supposed to be, only to be told by the owner that there was no party there, just groups of students dining.

I called Colin, but he didn't answer.

So, I waited for him outside his dorm, only to witness him and another guy in an argument, which somehow led to them kissing.

From afar, I could still tell Colin seemed to enjoy it, while it gave me goosebumps.

The next day, I broke up with him, ignoring all his pleas for reconciliation.

We met again at the alumni reunion two years ago.

He stood elegantly with a wine glass among the crowd, and I was drawn to him once more.

When he learned the reason for our breakup, he was both amused and resigned.

He explained that a classmate had drunk too much and kissed him while being escorted back to the dorm, and he hadn't had time to react before I saw them.

We exchanged contact information, and eventually, the misunderstanding was cleared up.

We rekindled our romance and started dating again, making up for the regret of four years ago.

Colin worked as a sales team leader at a parts company, without a car, house, or much money.

But I felt he was more mature and ambitious than four years ago, and he treated me even better.

So, three months after getting back together, we got married.

Colin's parents had borrowed a lot of money to support his education over the years and couldn't afford a wedding.

He also had a thirty-something unemployed brother waiting to get married.

The entire family was supported by Colin. Feeling sorry for him, I didn't ask for anything from him, and I paid for the wedding myself.

For this, I was teased by my friends for a long time.

They said it was the first time they'd seen a girl pay for her wedding.

That year, I was twenty-nine, and he was twenty-seven.

After the wedding, Colin's parents moved into my place with his lazy brother, claiming they could help with chores since we were both busy with work.

Because they were Colin's family, I treated them politely.

Since graduation, I had been working at a foreign trade company, and over five years, I had been promoted to supervisor, with my salary several times higher than when I first graduated.

Over the years, I had saved nearly three hundred thousand.

Colin's sales job wasn't easy.

He changed jobs frequently and didn't have stable client resources.

Even though he was promoted to team leader, his monthly salary was only three to four thousand bucks.

To avoid hurting his self-esteem, I often introduced my clients to him and transferred thousands of bucks to him during various holidays.

I also covered the living expenses for his parents and brother.

I thought my kindness and generosity would earn more love and care from him.

Little did I know, in their eyes, I was just a naive cash cow.

2.

After saying goodbye to my friend, I returned home, suppressing my anger.

Unexpectedly, upon opening the door, I was greeted by smoke and smells of alcohol.

From the entrance to the living room, the floor was littered with snack wrappers and paper scraps, and broken bottles were scattered everywhere.

Taylor sat on my newly purchased leather sofa with a group of his rowdy friends, playing cards.

Anyone walking in might think my home was a frat house after a wild party.

I pinched my nose as I walked in, dropped my shopping bags, and immediately changed into protective gear.

I opened the windows to let in some fresh air, put on gloves, and started cleaning.

Not caring if there were guests in the house, I slammed the mop down loudly, aiming to let off steam.

Taylor slowed his movements, angrily pointing at me and shouting, "Can't you wait until we're gone to clean? Don't you see we're playing cards?"

I replied coldly, "You can go play elsewhere. This is my home."

Seeing that I wasn't tolerating him, Taylor called out for his mom.

Judith hurried out, wearing an affectionate expression towards Taylor as she asked, "What's wrong, Taylor?"

With his support here, Taylor immediately started complaining, "Mom, Tiffany just told me to get out, and she even embarrassed me in front of my friends."

Judith thought I was being unreasonable. "Tiffany, Taylor is your older brother-in-law, after all. Can't you save him some dignity when his friends are here?"

"What dignity does he have as a freeloader? If he had any shame, he wouldn't have turned my place into this mess!" Furious, I yelled at Judith.

I bought this house less than three years ago, carefully selecting all the furniture and decorating it myself.

I usually took great care of it, but he kept bringing people over to ruin it.

"This is my brother's house. Why can't I bring my friends over for gatherings?" Taylor shamelessly questioned me.

Wayne, Colin's father, came out, puffing on a cigarette and throwing his weight around. "Tiffany, how dare you speak to Judith like that? Judith, call Colin and have him come back to deal with his wife."

"No need. I'll call him myself." I took off my gloves and dialed Colin.

As soon as the call connected, I said irritably, "Colin, your parents want you to come back and deal with me. Hurry up!"

With that, I hung up immediately.

Judith, furious, pointed at me and cursed, "Colin marrying you is the worst thing to happen to our family. You're lazy, prodigal, disrespectful to us. Furthermore, you can't even have children. What a shame!"

She got so worked up that she started crying.

Seriously?

If I were lazy, they'd all be starving!

If I were prodigal, I wouldn't buy clothes for Colin and his parents, which were supposed to be in those shopping bags.

But after seeing him out with another woman, I returned everything in anger and replaced them with clothes, perfume, and bags for myself.

As for having children, raising a child in this environment would be a disaster.

I didn't back down and retorted, "You all live off me, so what right do you have to scold me? Besides, I'm spending my own money!"

Judith was indignant, "Your money? That's my son's money!"

My head was buzzing from her shouting, and I didn't want to argue anymore.

I locked myself in my room, and the world suddenly became much quieter.

3.

Within a few hours, Colin rushed back.

His family took turns complaining to him about me with exaggeration.

Perhaps Colin knew his family's true nature too well.

He scolded them and ordered them to clean up the living room.

Colin stood at the door, gently coaxing me to open it.

But the image of him with that woman made me sick.

I quickly packed a few clothes and went to Alina's place.

I had no choice. My parents' place was not a good place to stay, and I couldn't live in a hotel forever.

Apart from my best friend Alina's home, there was no other place I could seek peace from in this city.

The day after I moved out, Colin came to pick me up.

He brought lots of my favorite foods and apologized profusely outside the door.

I could only feel annoyed. Who could tolerate their husband cheating?

Colin was particularly patient, apologizing at the door for a full half hour.

Alina couldn't stand it anymore and went out to chase him away, telling him I'd return home when his parents and brother moved out.

Surprisingly, a week passed without a call or visit from Colin, and I started to feel uneasy.

Alina urged me, "You paid for that house. Why should they live there? If anyone should leave, it's them. Go back and kick them out."

I was so annoyed back then. I had only wanted to avoid seeing them and forgot it was my house.

But I was curious about what Colin had been up to this past week.

Fortunately, when I was decorating the house, Alina worried about my safety living alone and gifted me a nanny camera as a housewarming present.

I opened the app and reviewed the footage from the past few days.
