Michelle stood with folded arms, staring at the new edition sparkling shoes on display, with lots of thoughts running through her mind.
"Will we ever get to wear those kinds of shoes in our lifetime?" She heard a plain voice said beside her, it was Deborah, her friend and coworker.
"Talking about the typical Cinderella's shoes, commoners like us will never get a chance to" Deborah added, shaking her head.
"Why can't we?" Michelle asks with a slight frown.
"Hey, those are meant for princesses, the amount alone is enough to feed our family for a good ten years, how would you afford such a hefty amount?" Deborah stated, and even though Michelle knew Deborah had a point, she felt it was unfair. They're humans also, why should they be categorized to such low level.
"Don't overreact, you can never say what will happen in the future. Life can't be predicted, we can become the Cinderella tomorrow, or better still someone better"
"So says someone who's still struggling to pay off her student loans. Hey, wake up will you! Except you have a one night stand with a freaking wealthy guy, who's nice enough to take you as his paramour or you become a surrogate to a freaking rich guy out there, don't even dream of it. Life is not a fairytale, okay!" Deborah scolded with seriousness, before walking back to her duty post.
Michelle remained standing, staring at the sparkling beautiful thing. "Funny..." She muttered. "I spent five years selling stunning shoes like this to people, but I've never got to try them on myself, or even buy them for myself...it feels so unfair to just stare at it all the time, they are just mere shoes, why are they so out of reach, why are they so hard to get..." She sighed, not taking her eyes away.
"Anny Wang isn't good enough, find someone better, I'm sure there are lot of pretty barbie out there who are responsible, I don't want a whinny little doll..." Job said to his P.A as they walk through the Hall.
"Anny is perfect but I'll try to look for a more better choice...Sir" His P.A replied, but Job wasn't paying attention anymore.
"Sirr??" He called again, but he really seems out of it. Job's eyes lingered on the pretty lady a little far from him, staring at some beautiful shoes with tired eyes. His eyes were blank, as he stares at her, none can say what's he's thinking actually.
Michelle sighs one more time, before pivoting but unfortunately, she collided with a woman whose coffee poured on her. "Oh! My goodness!" She shrieks as the hot thing poured on her hand.
"Michelle!" Deborah quickly rushes over to her, asking if she was okay. "Oh! No, you got burned. It must hurt..." Deborah says worried. "I'm fine. Don't worry..." Michelle said back to her.
"Hello...can't you two see I'm the one who got hurt for real here!" The woman, she collided with waves to their faces.
"I'm sorry ma'am, are you okay? Did you get hurt?" Michelle quickly asked, checking her for any injuries but the woman pushed her away roughly, Michelle stumble backwards but fortunately didn't fall.
"Okay?? Okay!!" The woman scoffs. "That took you forever to ask. And also, do I look okay to you? You spilled my coffee and even ruined my precious beautiful coat! What are you gonna do about it!" The woman roared in anger. Michelle looks at the coat and truly, it has been stained with black coffee. "Excuse me Customer, but you were the one who bumped int_"
"Deborah stop!" Michelle stops Deborah who was trying to confront the woman. "I'll take care of this" She faced the woman and bowed deeply. "I'm sorry ma'am. It's due to my carelessness, if you don't mind you can give me your coat for dry cleaning" Michelle said politely but the woman scoffs out angrily. "Dry cleaning! Do you think that's what I need right now! Do you know how much this cost uh! Do you!!" The woman shouted at her, gaining others attentions in the store.
"Calm down customer, if you can let me I will_" Michelle tries saying but a slap from the woman, rendered her dumb for some seconds. Deborah gasps.
"Hey!" The woman poke her shoulder, "look at me very well, do I look like someone who has the whole time to stand here and deliberate all day with you! What are you gonna do with my coat! What are you gonna do you lowly b*tch!!"
"What's going on here?" A husky voice stepped in, which got Deborah gasping more. "Oh, no. This is not good..."
Job got between the woman and Michelle, his face hardened. "Can someone tell me, what is going on there?" He asked again, his voice deep and husky.
"And who are you! A hero who has come to save her sorry ass!" The woman asked rudely. Job turned to her, then bring out a business card from his suit, giving it to her. "What's this?" The woman collected it hesitantly, looking at it.
"I'm Job Butts, the CEO of RICH DEPARTMENT STORE. there seems to be a problem, may I ask what happened?" Job ask politely and the woman cleared her voice.
"As the CEO, how do you train your workers here exactly! Do you just hire any body crying here for job! You should have done better! Your sorry of an employee spilled coffee on me, ruined my expensive coat and even has the nerves to act arrogant towards me! Is this the best you can do here uh!"
"But she nev_" Deborah tried talking but a look from Job made her swallowed the rest of the words.
Job sighs softly. "I'm sorry for any inconvenience any of my employees may have caused you ma'am. I promised such wil never happen again. Why don't you follow my P.A over here, he'll take care of you and your ruined coat. I hope you could overlook this mistake, ma'am" Job bowed slightly and the woman clears her throat again.
"At least you have manners...teach some to your employees...not everyone will overlook your mistakes every time just because you've got the looks and manners." The woman said.
"Please follow me ma'am" Job's P.A's said and the woman reluctantly followed him. Job said nothing as they left while Deborah breathes out.
Job turns to Michelle who had her head lowered throughout and said. "Meet me in my office" He walked away immediately while Deborah quickly rushed over to Michelle.
"What are you going to do. I think he's gonna scold you again. He looked really angry, what if he fires you!" Deborah said worried but Michelle just gave her a small smile.
"I'll be fine" She walks away while Deborah breathes out. "Fine my foot. He's obviously gonna yell out on you a lot. What to do, poor Michelle..."
Rena got into an entanglement with a big shot when she was drunk one night. She needed Waylen's help while he was drawn to her youthful beauty. As such, what was supposed to be a one-night stand progressed into something serious. All was well until Rena discovered that Waylen's heart belonged to another woman. When his first love returned, he stopped coming home, leaving Rena all alone for many nights. She put up with it until she received a check and farewell note one day. Contrary to how Waylen expected her to react, Rena had a smile on her face as she bid him farewell. "It was fun while it lasted, Waylen. May our paths never cross. Have a nice life." But as fate would have it, their paths crossed again. This time, Rena had another man by her side. Waylen's eyes burned with jealousy. He spat, "How the hell did you move on? I thought you loved only me!" "Keyword, loved!" Rena flipped her hair back and retorted, "There are plenty of fish in the sea, Waylen. Besides, you were the one who asked for a breakup. Now, if you want to date me, you have to wait in line." The next day, Rena received a credit alert of billions and a diamond ring. Waylen appeared again, got down on one knee, and uttered, "May I cut in line, Rena? I still want you."
"There will be no falling in love, we will only act as a loving couple when we are in public, we will share a room to make it believable, but no intimacy, touching is off-limits. We'll only have sex once a month, and that's solely to produce an heir. You won't interfere in my business, and I won't interfere in yours. You will be my wife in every sense and you will not be involved with any other man," he said, arrogance seeping from every word. I watch his mouth move, I'm not ready to fall in love with any man, especially not one as arrogant and egoistic as him. I can handle acting as a loving couple, and as for intimacy once a month. I can agree to that just to satisfy my sexual cravings with no strings attached. "Where can I sign?" I asked since I had nothing to lose. *** Nadine's wedding dreams turned to nightmares when she caught her sister and fiancé cheating! With a secret recording, she's ready for revenge. As he handed her the trophy, he suddenly reached for her hand and pleaded humbly in front of the audience, "Chelsea, I'm sorry I didn't cherish you before. Could you please give me another chance?" "You're mine, little puppy," Kylan growled against my neck. A soft gasp escaped my lips as his lips brushed my skin. My mind screamed at me to push him away-the Lycan Prince who had humiliated me again and again, but my body betrayed me, leaning into him before I could stop myself. He pressed his lips against mine, and his kiss grew more aggressive, more possessive as I felt my legs weaken. What was I doing? In a split-second, I pulled away and slapped him hard across the face. Kylan's eyes darkened, but the smirk on his lips exposed his amusement. "You and I both know we can't fight this, Violet," he said, gripping my wrist. "You're my mate." "And yet you don't want me," I replied. "You told me you were ashamed of me, that l'd never be your queen, that you'd never love me. So please, accept my rejection and let me go." "Never," he whispered, his grip tightening as he pulled me closer. "Soon enough, you'll be begging for me. and when you do-I'll use you as I see fit and then I'll reject you."
