Chapter 1 Prologue

Tick,tick,tick.I've been hearing this sound for some time now but I couldn't place where it's coming from.Each sound felt like I was being drawn further into an abyss.I strained my ears to decipher the sound and it's meaning.A clock,it was surely a ticking clock.But where am I ,I tried to remember the event of the previous day but that only caused a sharp pain to my head,I winced but no sound came out or maybe I thought I did.I tried to move but my body felt like jelly,I couldn't feel my body.Fear gripped me, what is wrong with me.

Then I heard it.Voices.I was not alone, thank goodness.I tried to put a face to the voices but the words were incoherent and I couldn't understand anything.

Slowly,I opened my eyes but the ray's of sun that met my eyes caused me to close they immediately.I tried opening them again but this time carefully while trying to adjust my eyes to the light.

As if someone could sense my plight,a lady figure went to close the shutters and I could now freely open my eyes but they were blurry and I couldn't see clearly.

I looked round to see where I was.I was in an hospital and I was lying on an hospital bed.Why I'm I in an hospital and how did I get here,i couldn't remember any of these.

I heard the voices again,it was then I noticed them, the three figures hovering over me.The first was my mother and she was looking at me with worry and concern etched on her face, the second was my sister, April,she must have been the one who closed the shutters.She was saying something to me,I tried to listen but I couldn't understand anything of what she was saying.

The third figure was a male, the face was familiar but I couldn't seem to recognise him.He was a young man who seemed to be in his mid-thirties and had nice looks.He also had a look of concern on his face and looked at me in such a way that tug a string at my heart.I couldn't bring myself to take my eyes off him and for some reason I started shedding tears.

I closed my eyes and when I reopened it ,he was no longer there.I was met with only the concerned faces of my mum and sister.I tried opening my mouth to speak but no sound came out.

I need to know what happened,I need to know why I'm here and why I can't seem to remember anything.

I closed my eyes again and focused on remembering what happened yesterday, but nothing came to mind.I tried again starting from the morning, slowly the pieces of my memories started coming to me.The letter in the storage,my argument with mum,my meeting with John and then I remembered... DAD!

It was dad,it was all dad's fault.20 years of pain and torture, and it was all dad's fault.The realization hit me hard and I wished I hadn't try to remember.Now I just want to forget everything.

By now I'm crying so hard and the pain is just so unbearable.My mum and sister are also crying and trying to console me.But I'm past being consoled.The damage has been done and it's beyond repair.

Slowly, slowly I slip back into a world of unconsciousness and I wish I could just remain there forever and never have to face the harsh truth of my existence.
