Chapter 1

On the day of my father, David Ford's funeral, it was raining cats and dogs outside.

With my mother having passed away long ago and the remaining relatives not being close, I was left alone to handle all the details of the funeral.

At the hospital, I watched as my father's body was covered with a white sheet.

Then, I followed the funeral home staff to deal with the various processes.

The people in the photo were her college friends, and Kate was standing very close to Josh, looking very much like a couple.

So, his "important matter" was celebrating Kate's birthday.

I could no longer deceive myself.

The irony hit me hard.

I looked up at the sky outside.

The sky was gloomy, and I caught the large raindrops falling from above with my hand.

I managed a bitter smile as tears mingled with the rain.

"Dad, there's no one left to love me anymore."
