Chapter 1 MY DILEMMA

ANNA

"Quickly, go and get the jam! How on earth did I forget it when I was coming back? Go quickly now, so we can eat!" my mom said hurriedly, her voice tinged with impatience. I looked at her, feeling a surge of anger.

"I'm tired. I don't want to go," I replied nonchalantly, my tone flat.

"Come on, please. I'm so tired. Please go!" my mom begged, her voice softer now. My relationship with my parents had never been close. They were always busy with work, leaving no time for me. This neglect had built a wall of resentment between us. I gruffly snatched the money from her hand and headed out to the convenience store, feeling the weight of my frustration.

At the store, I purchased the jam quickly and began the walk back home. My thoughts were scattered, and I didn't notice when I accidentally bumped into a man wearing a mask.

"Sorry!" I apologized quickly, my voice barely masking the irritation I felt. He didn't respond, just started to walk away. But then, something caught my eye-his hands. They were stained with blood. My heart skipped a beat, and I gasped, trying to make sense of what I had just seen. *What the heck? Why does he have blood on his hands?* I wondered, but I forced myself to mind my own business and continued walking home, my pace quickening as unease settled in.

As I approached the gate of my house, I noticed it was wide open. A chill ran down my spine. *Why is the door open?* I thought, my heart pounding in my chest. Fear crept into my mind as I cautiously stepped inside.

The jar of jam slipped from my hands, shattering on the floor as my eyes were met with a gruesome sight. My parents-both my mom and dad-were lying in a pool of blood. My world spun as I screamed, the sound tearing through the silence. Terror gripped me, my entire body shaking uncontrollably. *What do I do?!*

"Dad, Mom! Wake up! Please!" I pleaded, my voice trembling as I desperately tried to rouse them. With shaking hands, I fumbled for my phone and dialed 911.

"Please, come quickly! My parents are lying on the floor, lifeless! Please, hurry!" I shouted into the phone, panic surging through my veins. The urgency of the situation weighed heavily on me. I bent down beside my parents, my tears blurring the sight of their still bodies. As I checked their breathing, I realized that they were still alive-barely.

"Anna..." my mom's voice, weak and fading, reached my ears. I rushed to her side, my heart breaking.

"Yes, Mom, I'm here," I whispered through my tears.

"Remember, I love you... alright?" she said, her voice trailing off as the last of her strength faded. Her hand slipped from mine, her head falling to the floor.

"No! Mom!!" I cried, my sobs filling the room as the reality of the situation crushed me.

The ambulance siren wailed loudly as the paramedics rushed into the house, carrying my mom and dad on stretchers. They moved quickly toward the van while I ran after them, my heart pounding in my chest.

"You're the one who called us, right?" one of the paramedics asked. I nodded, my voice barely holding together.

"Yes, I am. I'm their daughter," I replied, climbing into the van with the doctors.

Inside the van, the doctors immediately began working on my mom, performing CPR and doing everything they could. But then one of them turned to me with a look of deep sorrow on his face.

"I'm sorry, but we lost her," he said softly.

The words hit me like a ton of bricks, and I broke down in tears.

"Mom! Wake up!" I cried out, my voice filled with desperation.

"What about my dad?" I asked the doctor, panic rising within me.

"He's still breathing. Let's get to the hospital first," he replied, his tone urgent but calm.

The van sped to the hospital, and as soon as we arrived, we rushed inside. Seeing my mom's body covered in a white sheet made tears stream down my face uncontrollably. I had never been the best daughter to them, and now... who could have done this to them? Who could be so cruel as to take their lives?

As I pulled back the sheet and saw the deep stab wounds, my mind flashed back to the image of someone with blood-covered hands. It might have been the person who killed my parents. I vowed silently, clenching my fists tightly, **I will find you and get my revenge.**

While I was still lost in my thoughts, trying to figure out how to catch the killer, one of the doctors rushed over to me, breathing heavily.

"What is it?" I asked, my voice trembling with worry.

"We're sorry, but we lost your father as well," she said, her face full of regret.

What the heck! I lost both my parents on the same day. I couldn't hold myself together anymore, and I collapsed to the floor, my entire body shaking. What do I do with my life now?

Before I knew it, I realized I had walked far away from the hospital and now stood before a bridge. As I stood there, a wave of mixed emotions washed over me. Should I just end it all? What should I do with my life now? What should I do next? Thoughts swirled in my mind, overwhelming me with sadness. But then another thought surfaced: it wouldn't be right to end it all just because my parents are dead. Even though they're gone, it's not the end of the world.

As I tried to gather myself, I remembered the man with bloody hands again. Could he be the killer? I'd make sure to find out, but first, I needed to get back to the hospital. Determined, I hailed a taxi.

"Taxi!" I shouted, and a cab pulled over. I quickly got in, but as the taxi started moving, a sense of fear crept over me. The driver wasn't taking the route I knew. He was heading in a completely different direction.

"Where are you taking me?" I asked, but he remained silent.

"I said, where the heck are you taking me?" Panic set in, and all I wanted was to get out of the car. I tried to open the door, but it was locked. Before I could react, someone I hadn't noticed earlier suddenly appeared in the back seat. He swiftly pressed something against my nose, I tried to struggle but he was stronger, and then everything went black.
