It was a cold winter evening in the busy streets of New York. A crowd of people could be seen, some hailing taxis, others walking home while some went to their usual leisure places. In a big building with a sign boldly written "CAMERON PHARMACY", came out a group of three girls, all probably in their early twenties. They were all incredibly beautiful, all with their own unique charm but the most outstanding was the one in the middle, Kimberley. At the moment the girls were talking excitedly about Kimberley's latest breakthrough in her research for a cure for cancer.

Yes, all these girls were Medical Scientists, dedicated ones at that. It was their first year though and they hadn't really made a name for themselves but Kimberley was already quite well known among their cycle.

"It's not really quite a big deal. Y'all are just exaggerating this. It's not like it's confirmed that I actually came up with the cure yet." said Kimberley. One of the girls, Kayla, sighed.

"You really are something else. You think this is not a big deal? Gosh, you just came up with a pill, with almost no side effects, that can fuckin cure cancer and you think this ain't a big deal? You know that currently people just go for chemotherapy, which is quite painful and expensive and even the chance of getting completely cured is less than eighty percent and then you tell me this ain't a big deal? This literally calls for a celebration." she said her tone exaggeratedly dramatic. The other girl, Mia nodded.

"I hate to admit it but for once in her life, Kayla is right. This is a big thing. You've literally outdone yourself this time." she said, a soft smile on her lips. Kimberley sighed.

"The results aren't even out yet.. there's still forty eight hours before the department gets back to us with the evaluation results so you guys shouldn't be so sure yet. I mean, what if the department finds the pills ineffective?" she said, an inch of worry lingering in her voice. Kayla chuckled, dropping one arm on Kimberley's shoulder.

"The company already did the first two rounds of the test and the results clearly showed the effectiveness of your pills. We are only just waiting for the patent from the department. After that, you'll launch your own pills and they shall be bought by all the big hospitals around the world. This whole ordeal will bring you a lot of reputation and it will elevate your status. In just two days, we'll have a celebrity friend." she said and Kimberley couldn't help but smile, feeling her long since anxious heart calm down. She playfully nudged Kayla with her elbow.

"You really do know how to make a person feel better." she said. Kayla shrugged.

"I'm a natural. Now.. how about we grab a drink or two, you know, just to celebrate."she said. Kimberley shook her head helplessly.

"There's no achievement as of yet." she said. Kayla grinned.

"Then we'll just call it a pre celebration." she said before practically dragging Kayla away. Luckily for them, their company was in the busiest spot in the city and had many bars around. They walked to a luxurious bar two streets away, with Kayla dragging Kimberley while Mia trailed behind them.

LUXURY BAR

As the girls entered the bar, the sound of loud music instantly hit their ears. The stench of alcohol filled the air, smoke from cigars blurring the room. Their blood quickly boiled with adrenaline, excitement filling their eyes. They exchanged a glance as a smirk appeared on Kimberley's mouth.

"It's been a while." she said before they entered practically dancing to the rhythm of the music.

As soon as they entered, they caught the attention of almost all the guys but they paid no one attention as they waltzed to the dancefloor. They were wearing the plainest clothes amongst the woman here( they were wearing casual jeans and hoodies ) but they shone the brightest. Many woman cast them resentful gazes but the girls just ignored them and focused on having fun. After dancing for a while, the girls finally decided to buy something to drink. They unhurriedly made their way to the bar table before ordering a few shots.

"And bring us some cocktails please." added Mia, flashing a smile at the bartender. The bartender nodded, dazed for a moment before hurriedly bringing their order.

"Thanks babes."said Mia as she took the things, deliberately brushing her hand against his. The man shivered slightly before nodding and quickly excusing himself. Kimberley and Kayla burst into laughter.

"Did you seriously just tease that poor guy?" asked Kayla. Mia shrugged.

"He's cute." she said and yeah she was right. That young bartender was super cute and was probably in their age group. Kimberley chuckled.

"Yeah right. And then you'll see someone else and completely forget about him right?" she asked mockingly. Mia rolled her eyes.

"Don't you know me better?" she asked and they all burst into laughter. Their characters were pretty obvious. Kayla was the funny one, Mia the playgirl, and Kimberley, the wild flirtatious but innocent girl.

After a few shots, the girls were starting to feel a little tipsy. Kayla and Mia decided to go to the dancefloor while Kimberley chose to remain in the sidelines. While casually sipping her cocktail, a man's voice sounded behind her.

"Hey gorgeous." the guy said and Kimberley turned around and sized the man up and down before saying dismissively.

"Get out of here." The guy was shocked and a little angry, especially when he saw the dismissive look in her eyes. His anger flared and his eyes turned several shades of red.

"Do you know who I am?" he asked. Kimberley glanced at his face thoughtfully for a while before speaking up. The man thought she had recognised him and was about to boast when he heard her next words.

"I don't know you. Do you not know yourself? Maybe you got some kind of amnesia." she said seriously. The people nearby who had been quietly observing couldn't help but laugh. This girl..

The guy's face turned purple with anger as he raised his hand to hit her when another slender hand held his arm. As he turned to see who had dared to stop him, a punch met his face and he fell down. Kayla stood on top of him, casually wiping her hands with a handkerchief before spitting out.

"Be careful of who you hit 'cause one day you might just find yourself handless." she said, her voice laced with venom. Kimberley smiled softly before gently holding her arm.

"I'm okay." she answered the silent question after seeing the concern in Kayla's eyes. Kayla nodded and glanced at the man coldly.

"What are you still doing down there? Looking for a beating?" she asked. The man quickly stood up and hurriedly left but not before threatening.

"I'll make you pay for this." he said as he left. Kayla smirked.

"I'll be looking forward to it." she said. Although apparently carefree, Kayla was the toughest in the group and also the richest, being the only heiress of the third richest family in the city of New York, the Bryson family followed closely by Kimberley and then Mia. That man was probably some other ignorant fool that didn't know his own position. He certainly didn't scare Kayla.

"I'm tired." muttered Kimberley. Mia quickly came to the rescue.

"I'll book a room upstairs." she said. Kayla and Kimberley didn't think to much and nodded for her to proceed. Without wasting time, Mia left but stopped once she was in a secluded area.

"Everything ready?" she asked. I don't know what the other party said but a satisfied smile appeared on her face as she nodded.

"Good." she said simply before hanging up. A small sinister smile appeared on her face as she took out a room key from her pocket.

"Tonight will be your doom." she said before walking back inside.

Kimberley walked alone in the corridor, heading towards her room, Room 354. She was feeling drowsy and as a medical practitioner, she quickly realised that something was wrong with her body. Was she drugged? As that thought surfaced, a hint of panic flashed in her eyes as she quickened her pace. By the time she reached the room, she was already aching.. no, they couldn't have given her those.. It took a lot of effort to open the door and she almost fell when she entered but she quickly steadied herself. The door closed with a bang behind her and as she turned, a large hand pulled her forward before her lips met with unfamiliar ones.
