I had finally mated with Alpha Jaxon Buell of the Moonshine Pack. Just a little while ago, we said our vows under the shining moon, which was a special ceremony that connected our hearts forever.
An older member of the pack with his hair, a mix of silver and grey, walked over to me while clapping his hands. "Finally, Erica! We were beginning to think you wouldn't get Jaxon's attention!"
I smiled with my cheeks turning red. "Thanks! I can't believe this is happening."
"And here's to love!" Jaxon lifted his glass with his bright eyes sparkling with joy as they locked onto mine. "To our future together, and may each day be as lively as this party!"
"To Erica and Jaxon!" The crowd cheered with their drinks held up high, with laughter filling the air around us.
My heart raced as I looked into Jaxon's eyes. I felt special like never before. All the doubt I had felt for years disappeared, replaced by a strong sense of my value.
I had always been the quieter and weaker twin in the shadow of my more confident sister, Erin, but this moment felt like my chance to stand out.
As the party went on, I saw Erin on the other side of the room. Her long hair shone brightly, and her strong presence caught everyone's eye. I made my way through the crowd while pulling toward her like a moth to a light.
"Congrats, sis!" She said with her voice more strained than I thought it would be, with a hint of something I couldn't understand showing in her eyes.
"Thank you!" I said while full of joy. "I can't believe this day is finally here."
"Are you happy, aren't you?" Erin asked with her voice careful but showing a hint of something that confused me.
"Definitely! I've never felt better... like this."
"Sure," she said quickly with a sly smile on her face. "Just watch out. Things aren't always what they look like-"
Before I could ask her what she meant, she turned and disappeared into the crowd, leaving me looking after her with a frown. Why did Erin's sudden change in mood upset me? Shouldn't she be happy for me?
I let it go and turned back to where Jaxon was amusing our guests with his fun jokes. Laughter filled the air, but I started to feel a little uneasy. Leaning on the bar, I twirled the champagne in my glass while watching Jaxon as he excitedly told a story from his past.
"I swear I once dared a bear to a fight! But because I was drunk!" he said while spreading his arms wide with his eyes shining with fun. I couldn't help but smile weakly at his lively spirit.
With all the celebration around me, I began to feel drowsy. I felt lightheaded, but not from the drinks-something deeper was bothering me, maybe a hint of unease from Erin's comments. The lively mood felt at odds with the growing sense of worry that was just under the surface.
With a forced smile hiding my growing worry, I stepped back from the bar while wanting fresh air and a moment to think. I tried to move but staggered as my foot caught the leg of a stool. I slipped, and even before I could hit the floor, the world blurred into darkness.

I woke up suddenly with the sound of people talking bringing me out of sleep. My senses slowly became clear; the warmth of the blankets felt good but also a bit too much. I blinked rapidly in confusion while trying to recognise my surroundings.
I was in bed-was it mine? Confusion hit me when I felt the strange weight beside me. My heart raced as I looked over with fear hitting me like a cold wave. A stranger was next to me with his chest bare and caught in the sheets.
"What is going on...?" I murmured with my voice just a whisper as fear gripped my throat.
Before I understood what was happening, the door slammed open with a loud noise. A crowd hurried inside, and I saw Jaxon with his face showing both shock and anger, with eyes wide with surprise. "Erica!" he yelled while running toward me.
"Hold on, let me-" I began while quickly moving back against the headboard. My thoughts were jumbled, and just as I was about to speak, Erin walked in last with a grin spreading across her face.
"Just like I said," she said happily with arms crossed and a big smile on her face. "It seems like Erica has a boyfriend."
My face felt hot as panic grew inside me. "No! It's not what you think! I-" The words spilt out confusingly. My brain was moving fast, but I couldn't keep up with my speech. "I-I didn't mean to-"
"Erica," Jaxon said, his voice not helping to ease my fear, but he sounded a bit confused as he looked at the man next to me. "Who is he?" He turned back to me with his look intense and blaming. "What's going on?"
"I don't know! I was... I can't remember!" I shut my eyes tight while trying hard to recall that night. "I fell... and then... I must have passed out...
"Wow, you shocked everyone." Erin moved in closer, her smile a bit mischievous. "Did you think a quick thrill wouldn't reach Jaxon?"
"Erin, stop!" Jaxon shouted with his voice angry. "This isn't useful!"
The air felt tense, and slowly pushing away the confusion. My heart raced, and I sensed the stranger looking at me with his face unreadable, causing my panic to grow.
"Erica?" Jaxon said again with his anger rising. "Do you know what you've done?"
The walls seemed to be closing in. "No! Please just hear me out! I didn't mean for this to happen, I begged, with panic filling my heart. "I didn't even-"
"You didn't even what Erica?" Erin cut in while leaning on the wall with her arms crossed. "Think about what could happen. Or was this your plan all along-to cause trouble on your special day?"
"Erin!" My voice shook while filled with emotions. "That's not fair!"
"Fair?" Erin tilted her head while making fun of me. "You're in bed with some random guy, and you believe that's fair?"
"I didn't want this!" I shouted with tears starting to form in my eyes. "I got mixed up... I stumbled, and now I'm here!"
"Enough!" Jaxon shouted while making us all quiet. "This is
not just a small mistake. I thought I knew you, Erica. I didn't know you were a whore!"
