I had been married to Alexander Cole, the Crystal Blood Pack's prospective alpha, for two years. I had repeatedly attempted-and failed-to gain his love over our two years together. I was his wife, and he hadn't even marked me yet. I also couldn't help but want my alpha to identify me as his because I'm a werewolf. In addition, it had been a while since he had returned home, and I missed his touch.
I sighed, sat back, and let out a yawn. I gaped open when I looked at the clock after that.
"Fuck! I anticipate being late. I hurried to the restroom to prepare for my monthly visit with Doctor Ryan Jacobs at the pack hospital and to take a shower. I hurriedly got dressed, then went down the stairs to the main door while reflecting on my marriage.
Even though there were problems in our marriage, I still deeply loved my husband. I had always dreamed of having a kid of our own, hoping that maybe Alexander would return home more frequently.
****
I was really nervous at the hospital when Doctor Jacobs finished his assessment and took his own blood sample for the test. After that, he departed the room, promising to return shortly with the results.
While I waited, I made the decision that if I wasn't pregnant this time, I would divorce Alexander and terminate my miserable marriage.
But Dr. Jacobs reappeared with a grin. "Accomplishments!" he shouted.
My jaw fell. "Really?" I caressed my belly and then foolishly inquired, "Is there a baby?"
"Babies," he answered.
My brows furrowed as I couldn't help but smile.
"Twins," he verified.
My cheeks were slathered with happy tears as they began to well up.
"However, I suggest you exercise caution," Dr. Jacobs stated. "The walls of your uterus are incredibly thin."
I was utterly shocked and shocked by his unexpected remarks. He shouldn't have said that, and as soon as I realized that, anxiety for my kids began to creep into my thoughts. I realized right then that I needed to exercise caution. There was too much on the line, and I couldn't afford to lose.
I replied, "I'll take care of myself," and grinned once more as I thanked him and left the hospital.
Well, till I got back home.
I discovered Alexander sitting on the living room couch with Lauren, his new girlfriend. I abruptly stopped. Lauren was crying, and he was giving her gentle consolation. I was overcome with hurt when I saw how kind he was with her. I clinched my fists, attempting to control my tears.
Alexander turned his enraged gaze on me. "How dare you come back!" he shouted. You are really cruel to Lauren!
How come? What topic are you discussing?
His face took on a fiercer aspect. Oh, kindly. You irritate me.
I hid in my bedroom, covering my lips, not wanting to cry in front of another woman, since I could take no more humiliation. After Alexander had mistreated me for Lauren the first time, I created a divorce agreement, which I got out of my nightstand drawer a few months ago. I had wanted to give our marriage another go back then. I had thought that if I became pregnant, it would help me win his heart.
But my hope had been misplaced. I rubbed the strong letters on the divorce decree with my thumb and muttered to myself, "He won't ever mark me as his mate. He won't accept my babies either since he would always make fun of me for his lover. I must proceed for the benefit of my kids. I have no other option.
I signed the form, wiped away my tears, and then sat on the bed, staring at nothing, trying to process what I had just done.
Alexander opened the bedroom door with great force after a short while.
After forcing the agreement into the drawer, I got up. I saw Alexander turn the latch and uttered the alarming phrase, "Ad-Alexander."
He walked over to me and shoved me into the bed before I could say anything else. "Do you believe you will lead this pack as its luna?"
Despite my attempts to move away from him, he gripped my head with his hands.
"Remember how you first set me up to get married to you." He started taking me apart. Even though I was being restrained by his strong arms, I cried out in protest.
"No!" I screamed, trying to push past him. "Please give up!"
He kissed my neck roughly. "You give up! Give up acting! That's what you requested, and you have destroyed my life.
I stopped moving as the weight of his charge became apparent and looked him in the eye. "Let's get a divorce then."
