Marry my Husband

The distinct smell of disinfectant filled the hospital room with Nurses attending to the needs of other patients. Sitting on the bed, Kaylee stared into space.

The was an injection hand plug connected to her hand. Her skin pale and weight loss evident on her body. Kaylee stared at the children playing outside through her window, listening to their laughter and the rustling sound in the leaves of the tree.

Her thoughts were interrupted when her best friend, Delaney, stepped into the room and closed the window.

Delaney turned to look at her "cold wind is not good for you". After a minute of silence "Kaylee, look at you still looking pretty"

Delaney sighed "I will not forgive you if you leave me, do not forget you have me...You have to live a long life with me".

Kaylee smiled "Thanks...I got unlucky in my marriage, but I am glad I have you".

"Why would you say that? Blayde is a great husband " Delaney said as she drew a seat and sat on it facing Kaylee.

"He is cheating on me".

"What" Delaney asked feigning innocence

"He texted me 'I love you ' and 'I miss you' then he deleted it right away, I am sure it was sent by mistake".

"Do not get sensitive" Delaney checked her phone which was on the drawer. Kaylee noticed the shoes on Delaney's leg, it was red in colour. She gazed at it in admiration.

"Do you want me to talk to him" Delaney asked

"Forget it. I just need you" Kaylee said affectionately

"I only need you too" Delaney stared at her "Let us only think good thoughts. Okay, my other half?"

Kaylee nodded in affirmative.

They stared at each other in silence. The silence was interrupted when the Nurse gave an announcement "Miss Kaylee, it is time to go to the transfusion room".

Kaylee turned to Delaney fear written all over her face as she held Delaney's hands.

"This Medicine will not hurt at all, You will get better once it is done...Never give up!" Delaney assured. All Kaylee could do was nod as the tension she felt subsided a bit.

IN THE TRANSFUSION ROOM:

The Nurse connected the blood bag through the plastic tube into Kaylee's vein.

Kaylee laid on the bed staring at the ceiling "I can not remember the last time I was happy. So why do I miss it so much? I was given six months. Twelve months, if there was a miracle. It is all pointless now" Kaylee thought to herself. She closed her eyes as memories kept flooding her mind.

FLASH BACK:

On her wedding day, Kaylee threw her bouquet of flower and her best friend caught it. Everyone clapped while her best friend was just smiling sheepishly.

Her husband, Blayde walked up to her "Great Job, You look so beautiful today" Blayde said.

Blayde's mother walked up to Kaylee weighing her dress from head to toe "You look beautiful...I picked the perfect dress for you!" Then she hugged Kaylee slightly it was obvious she was mocking Kaylee but no one noticed.

The seats which her Parents were meant to sit on was empty cause she was an orphan.

"Forget it. You are part of our family now. You are my daughter". Kaylee saw the evil glint in her eyes when making the statement.

"You poor thing...it is not fault that you did not receive proper household. As your mother, I will teach you from now on. You pitiful girl" She said and hugged Kaylee again.

Everyone in the congregation clapped admiring the Mother-in-law and daughter-in-law relationship.

Days later, Kaylee turned into a house wife dressed in rags. Her head facing the ground as her mother-in-law was scolding her.

"Blayde is the third generation of families with only sons. Third generations! How dare you sever that?" Blayde's mother asked.

Blayde walked into the room, his eyes on his phone not minding what his mother was doing.

"I am sorry" Kaylee replied

"I took in a worthless girl like you. Why can you not have kids?" She hit the table "Do you even know how to do anything?" She asked hitting the table again. Blayde's mother stood up from her chair letting out a sigh.

Blayde held his mother "Mom, bear with her".

"Let go" She struggled and removed her hands from her son's grip in the process spilling the hot tea in the cup and it poured on Kaylee. Kaylee let out a sound of pain but no one seemed to care.

"What a waste. Sit down. Why are you so angry?" Blayde asked trying to appease his mother.

Kaylee came back from work late at night only to hear that Blayde quit his Job.

"What? You quit your Job? Kaylee asked

"I am going into stocks. Do you remember Roijental? Look" He said pointing at the screen of his laptop "A few more trades, and it could change our lives. But I cannot trade when I need to because of work. It will not work for me" He said standing up.

"We have monthly loan payments! We should have discussed this! Kaylee exclaimed

"Hey! Are you messing with me? Why would I have to discuss this with you?" Blayde turned to his mum who was sitting on the sofa and went to lay on her laps "Mom! Do you think I will do well? Do you think I will hit it big?" Blayde asked

"Of course. My son can do anything" His mother replied.

Kaylee just stared at the both of them in amazement. She wondered how he will just leave his work place for stock trading when there is a huge loss in it.

AT WORK PLACE:

"Issues at home? Does the world revolve around you?" The manager said throwing the documents at Kaylee. "Everyone has issues at home. This is why married women should not work" The manager exclaimed.

Kaylee went down on her knees to pick up the documents then she felt a severe pain in her stomach. Just as she was holding her stomach, blood dripped from her nose and fell on one of the documents on the floor.

Before she could understand what is going on she heard the Manager's voice "What are you doing?"

"I am sorry" Kaylee replied as she stood up to leave his office.
