Chapter 1
Slap!
I looked at mommy as she did that to me. I wouldn't be surprised if she did that to me because I'm used to this pain.
"What did you do this time? Why did Anna tell me that you allegedly stole her painting." I looked where Anna was and saw the grin on her lips. I clenched my fist because she was starting again. Anna is the twin sister of Anika but they're different. I am a year older than them.
"That's right mommy. I even tore it apart." I smiled genuinely. I'm tired of pretending I'm not having a hard time because of what she's doing that she thinks I'm not her child. Even if I explain, I know that Anna is still on her side.
"Stupid woman! Get out! Go back to your condo!"
"I will get going now." I still respectfully said before I went down the stairs. At the end of the stairs I saw the concern on Anika's face but I just smiled at her.
"Sorry for that. Take care, sis." I smiled and hugged her.
Some people say that I am a spoiled little woman but they didn't know the story behind those materialistic things given to me. I thought to myself not to live anymore until I met the man of my life. He gives me hope to live in this cruel world. I imagined a life to be with him and make our own family but then all my hope crashed into pieces.
What can I do? He didn't like me because I am annoying but behind those words is what I saw in his actions. Since he did that to me I seem to have lost the remaining pleasure, happiness and my little trance but I can't give up because there are those who depend on me. Since he left me my life has become even more miserable. It seems like all the problems have come together since that, I no longer have time to have fun. All the problems were left to me by Mommy and Daddy as if I was their only child.
"He's going back tomorrow, Bea." I did not speak but just looked outside the coffee shop and watched the people passing around me. Jane who was left as my faithful friend and Klea who I knew during the times I was struggling, is still the same today.
'Who? I want to take a peek." I saw on my peripheral vision that Klea got up from her seat and took a peek at Jane's cellphone. 'The guy is so hot. Who is he, pregnant lady? " I just shook my head because on what Klea's remark. She used to call Jane a pregnant lady because it was true. Sometimes, I am thinking of being jealous on Jane because she has already have a family.
"He is Giovanni Castillo." Jane simply said and glanced at me with concern but I just gave her a smile. Klea looks and points at my face. I wanted to laugh when I saw how her eyes got big. I know that she would react that way once she heard the name of my ex-husband. She didn't know what he looked like but she knew very well what he did to me.
'W-What? Is he your..ex-husband? "
I nodded slowly, "yeah." I took a sip on my coffee and watched how will her react because my instinct told me that she would be furious and I was correct. She looked again at those pictures and grabbed the phone. She was about to throw it when Jane immediately stopped her.
"Hey, don't destroy my belongings."
'That scheming man. How dare he go back here. I swear to myself that it will be the death of him once I see him. I can't believe that you love that type of guy. " I shrugged my shoulders. Well, I can't believe it too. He is kind to me and I know why he suddenly changed the way he treated me. I will not forget the reason that I am hiding from anyone.
Since the bank took over our property my friends have left me and the only one left with me at that time was Jane. Mommy's relative didn't want to help me while my step father followed my step-sister Anika who was in another country and where Anna also lived. All the hardships came to me because Tito Dwayne, who is the father of Anika and Anna, told me then that I was not his child. Even if that's the truth, I still can't accept that he just turned his back on mommy. The reason he said was because Mommy was a paid woman and he could no longer receive it.
I also have no communication with Anika because I have cut off all my connections with our relatives even though she is not the one who criticized me badly. In fact she was a good sister even though we were just sisters on my mother's side. When I went to my Daddy I was surprised at how he reacted that day. He denied that he is my father and told me that he's just a friend of mom who helped her. I couldn't believe it until mommy told me the truth before she disappeared.
"I'll get going now." I announced that's the reason for them to glare at me so I just looked away. Today is sunday and I have another to comply with rather these things. What if he comes back? I don't even know if he wants to see me. I am sure he didn't want to see me since I destroyed his dream to be with the girl of his life.
"Bea, can't you just leave with that job." I saw how Jane's eyes teared up. I know they're just worried about me but I can't quit so easily. I have debts to pay.
"You both know that I can't."
'We can lend you some money. I know it's not enough but... "
I shook my head because of what Klea said, "I know you need that money too. Don't worry about me, I can do it. "
"Our poor, Bea." They quickly got up from their seats and approached me before hugging me. I hugged them too. Real friends are what I needed the most in this cruel world and I thank God that he gave me the best friends that I am looking for.
'Don't worry about me. What matters to me is that you are with me."
'You can do this, Bea. We will win in this cruel world." Klea said and hugged me tightly. Like me, Klea doesn't have parents anymore.
"We will!" The three of us shouted. I am glad that there are not so many people inside the café of Levi. The husband of Jane and the best friend of my ex-husband.
"I need to go, guys." I broke the hug and looked at them. I smiled and so did they.
'We will take care of them. No need to worry. " I know who they are talking about so I smiled genuinely.
"Thank you."
When I got out and away from the café my tears fell and my smiles faded. I don't like my job but if I don't continue it then I won't be able to pay the bank loan. I don't want to look for my real daddy because they might treat me the same way. Mommy has a lot of debt to pay in the bank.
"Hey, Madam Sy is looking for you." I nodded to the mansion bodyguard who is also the bouncer.
"Thank you, Brother Tom." He smiled.
I went inside the mansion. It is not an ordinary mansion as others think but I will admit that here inside this mansion I felt to be taught as a family. As I entered the living room I saw the others doing their own thing. Lerwick saw me.
"Gorgeous Ey, Mama is looking for you."
I chuckled before I headed to the stairs and got straight to Mama Sy's office. I knocked on the door three times.
"Come in!"
I slowly opened the door and saw Mama Sy with her right hand, which is Mister Louie.
"Mom, I am here."
"Take a seat." I approached and sat in the chair in front of her desk while she just sat there while still looking at the papers while Brother Louie stood like he does whenever he is here.
"Mama, is there any problem?" Earlier, she told me to go to the mansion before we even met three in the café. Rarely does she call whenever we have customer service and sometimes the reason for calling is a problem or whatever.
"Nothing, dear." She folded her hands as she sat on the table. I raised both my eyebrows when she smiled widely. "You're really my precious gem."
"What is this all about, Mama."
"I'll give you a one week vacation."
My eyes almost widened in shock. Is this true? Mama is a businesswoman so I know she has a replacement. But I am still shocked because of the news.
'A-Are you sure about this?"
'Of course, I am. That's all, you can enjoy your vacation. " I studied her actions but I saw nothing suspicious.
"Mama, what-"
She raised her hand to stop me, "stop with more questions. After your vacation you will start your job again sweetie. Here is the money. I want you to buy a fabulous dress before you meet our customer in a week. " My hand trembled up the money that was on the table. I wasn't able to speak again because Brother Louie already escorted me to the door.
Even though I don't like this job I have to do it because I need a lot of money and this is the only thing that can help me then. Even though I hate myself, let it go because that's who I am now. A private prostitute. How I said we are private is that it is because of our customers who are becoming wealthy. We didn't have to wait outside the bar and catch the customer. Just an approach and an appointment with Mama, they can buy us but it's not that easy to make an appointment and there are rules that Mama made for us so maybe we were called private because celebrities also approach Mama.
