Chapter One : Married

Veronica's pov

" Smile for Veronica. I won't let you ruin my wedding day " My mother said .

We are currently in the dressing room helping her get ready for her wedding day.

My mother is getting married to the richest man in the country. I should be happy for her but I can't help but feel my hatred toward her .

It has been just two weeks since my father died . I can't believe she has the guts to get married fourteen days after his death . I heard whispers from the four corners of the building and received pitiful looks from the guests.

Everyone is talking about my mothers unfaithfulness towards my fathers sorry late father.The rumors have it that she has been cheating on my dad with a man called Vince De Crabilo.

Just thinking about sending shivers down my spine. I can't believe he would replace my father's place . I can't call him my stepdad and talk more for dad as my mother insisted I should .

I feel cheated. First it was my grandmother, then Daniel and now my father. These were the only people that cared about me . They meant the whole world to me and now within a year they are all gone .

" Of course mother " I replied sarcastically

" Don't you dare use that tone on me . I'm doing what is best for us . Vince will give us everything we've always wanted. He is going to give us the life I have always dreamed of . That psycho luke was nothing but a loser "

" Don't call my father a psycho . He was everything I've always wanted. He lying in his grave has some respect mother " I can't believe she is saying that .

I admit that he is not rich compared to Vince for goodness sake but he gave me everything I have always wanted.

" Looks like you want to end up like him as a loser but I won't let you do that . I'm getting married to Vince De Crabilo, the richest man in the whole continent and beyond I will be called Mrs Crabilo . I will have everything . Don't spoil this for me or I will kill you so you can be with your dad"

" It's really true what they say you are nothing but a whore "

And then she snapped and gave me a hard slap on my red cheek . Tears were running down my face . I can't believe this is my mother. Which mother will raise her hands on her daughter for selfish reasons.

" Stop crying and cover the mark with makeup. I don't want scandalous gossip on my wedding day . Is that understood?"

" I hate you " I voiced out . I know she can feel the hatred dripping from my voice .

" I don't care . Now off you go and be quick ". She said, I ran and ran until I got to my room . The room bears all my stuff and has been moved to Mr Vince's house . I managed to drag myself to the bathroom. I wash my face with cold water . It eased the pain from my left cheek . I stared at my reflection in the mirror. I look horrible. My eyes look swollen and sad . I can't believe my mother is getting married.

After applying my makeup. I exited the room and walked to the car . Five expensive cars were packed in front of our house. I decided to use the car reserved for bridesmaids . It was a black Lamborghini.

After that everything was a blur . Fake smile plastered on my face greeting people of the high class society and eating chicken.

" Everyone, I would like to have your attention. I want to say thank you for honoring our invitation and being part of today's celebration. I also want to say thank you to Mrs De Crabilo for saying yes I love you so much " said Mr Vince

Really? I despise Mr Vince so fucking much. And my mother for kissing him so passionately in public. The scene is enough to make me choke on my third plate of drum sticks.

" One more thing I would like to say is thank you Veronica for giving me the chance to be the father you deserve. I won't let you down .

"To family " he added while raising his glass of wine up.

I couldn't say anything but send him a glare. Bastard .

" Thank you " I managed to say and covered it with a fake smile .

I can see my mother nodding her head in approval . I'm glad she buys my act . Looks like I'm getting good at my acting skills.

After cutting the cake and lots of toast later the wedding party came to an end . I can't wait to leave this place .

I hate pretending but I have to make it a habit of mine in order to leave this place. I can't find my freedom unless I'm through with college considering I have two years left .

" Veronica I'm sure you would love my son Bruno . He is a nice guy " said Mr Vince. He has been trying to get a conversation with me but he keeps failing.

" Yes Mr Vince " These three words were enough to make him lose interest .

" Be nice Veronica. I don't know what your problem is' ' my angry mother said from the other side of the limousine.

" It's okay baby she is just trying to get used to her new life, a life that her late dad wasn't able to give her " said Mr Vince . I hate them both and I also hate them for making fun of my dad's financial status.

I averted my gaze from their little make out session seriously. They should get a room . We pulled out in front of a magnificent fortress. Three cars trailing behind us and two at our front .

This is like an estate and it can pass as a mini state . I can't believe someone lives here .

" I know you will be impressed, " said Mr Vince .

And damn it he is right . The dude is very rich but I didn't know he was this rich .

" That's why he is called De Crabilo, '' my mother whispered to me . We made our way into the main building and boy I was so mesmerized by the beauty of this place . Water fountains, beautiful flowers and portraits.

Various art displays. The theme of the house is white and gold . Looks like step daddy will come in handy .

" Madam Montana take Veronica to get room, " said an impatient Mr Venice. I wonder why he is in such a hurry . I bet he wants to fuck her . I cringed from the thoughts.

" Right this way mam" said madam Montana. She is a petite middle aged woman . She is really beautiful and looks kind of Asian . Her smile is very contagious. I can't help but smile back at her . She led me to a glass door but not a transparent one though.

" If you need anything please give me a call,

" she said with a bow .

My room is really beautiful. It is painted light nude . Nude is my favorite color . All my stuff was already neatly arranged . I walk towards the closet to get rid of my gown . I'm surprised to see all my clothes here .

The walk-in closet was filled withp clothes of various brands Dior, Valentino, fendi , prada and lots more . I feel like a princess but also guilty . I should be moaning not feeling like a princess. Dad is dead and mom just got married.

I quickly changed into a beautiful pink night dress . And made my way to my king size bed . The bed is very soft and comfortable but I was not able to make myself sleep. After hours of tossing side by side I finally decided to go out for some fresh air . I think I saw a garden earlier . Grabbing a robe and my phone I exited my room .

The hallway was quiet. After walking, I couldn't find the garden . Great, I'm lost . Who wouldn't be ? This is a very big house.

I kept on walking until I reached a door that was slightly open. Curiously got the best of me . Why is the door open?

" Who the fuck are you ?" said a voice
