Five years. Five years since Valerie escaped this fancy city and her ex-husband's mean tricks. Now, she was back, and revenge felt good.
Valerie put on big sunglasses, hoping nobody would recognize her. Click-clack, her fancy shoes walked on the dirty street as she found a secret entrance to the giant Alan Tower.
The security guard knew her! His eyes popped wide. Up she went in a shiny elevator. The doors opened to a fancy waiting room with rich ladies holding expensive purses. One lady, all diamonds and fake smiles, glared at Valerie.
"Ms. Alan," the receptionist said snooty-like, not even looking up. "Mr. Alan is waiting."
The other ladies gasped. Valerie didn't care. She walked in, making the air feel weird. The office door opened, revealing a super handsome man who looked like he belonged in a magazine. He had a few more grey hairs now, but his cold blue eyes were still the same.
"Valerie," the man, Alexander Alan, said in a smooth voice that sounded dangerous. "Surprise."
"Hi Alexander," Valerie said, trying to sound calm. "Surprise isn't exactly the word I'd use. Especially after what happened."
He offered her a fancy chair, but she didn't sit. Instead, she opened her bag and showed him the worn teddy bear. Alexander's face turned white as a ghost.
"Is that Little Star?" Valerie asked, her voice angry. "The one your security guys 'lost' when I left?"
Silence. Then, Alexander smiled, but it wasn't a nice smile.
"Ah, memories," he said in a bored voice. "So, why are you here all of a sudden?"
Valerie leaned closer, her voice low and serious. "I have a deal, Alexander. A contract, a lot of money, and a chance for me to get back what you took."
